This is an amazing review! Fun Fact: with Hidden Side, we actually know what might have happened to Harry Cane. In the 2020 biplane set, Harry Cane is shown as the boss ghost for that set in the app. So it seems Harry Cane survived his death and lived the rest of his life alone in the Amazon. You have a better ending to him.

One of the most iconic adventurers set. I remember this flying around in Lego Racers. Man, the nostalgia....
Sadly I only have the desert line from this theme, but the Amazonas subtheme was always close to my heart, I remember browsing the old catalogs for hours as a kid. Your channel injects too much dose of joy and memories :D

Got this set for my eleventh birthday, always enjoyed using the airship part to make my pirate ships into steampunk flying craft
Great reviews. Love the Adventurers and their sets. I never imagined anything grim happening to Harry Cane. I always thought of him as a hired hand/hired help for flying them into places or if it was a really big job and then always went away to do other jobs or adventures. That was always my take on him 😂
Well, that’s a lot more cheery than my idea of what happened to him, lol! Much better than dying in a blimp explosion. 😄👍

This was one of my favorites as a kid. I love the adventurer series. I would spend hours making landing pads and temples for the zeppelin to land at. I think I one point my balance on had machine gun mounts that I added so I could act out sky battles with the biplanes. Such a good set.
It took me awhile to stomach the black market price for this set, but eventually I picked one up in 2018 for about $113. The stickers and blimp were in decent condition, no box but yes instructions, and outside of being a unique model for Adventurers, I also deemed this iconic for that era of LEGO, as it made many appearances in media such as video games featuring the Adventurers team. And I agree on the shrine, having a somewhat unique slide function. Thanks for sharing and well done on the review.
second-hand market I believe is what you were going for. Nobody's selling these alongside pilfered art or archaeological finds ;)

Toyhax/Reprolabels should definitely make repro Lego stickers. They use a vinyl based material
Sounds to me like Lego thought that Harry was stealing some of Johnny’s Thunder and decided to axe him.
I bought a big box of Legos at a garage sale over a decade ago, and for the longest time, I had no idea what that "zeppelin thing" was, or if it was even Lego initially. The decals were all long gone. Was I ever surprised when I saw a picture of this set for the first time.

I had it but i had to left it in the Car when i was younger and when we came back the Zeppelin Part was completly melted, i cried so bad it was not a good day.
Beautiful video! This has been my favorite set for a long time... In dreams of course. I still have a memory, belonging to the other century in which there is this airship in the package with the extremes of outside - the package I remembered perfectly since then, I did not have to search the internet to bring back the memories - on a shelf that will have been lower than me, on the left side from my Point of view, I will have yes, I must have been 7 years old, it has never been given to me and my mother believes that for years she has been looking for it in vain for me, because she had ever found it I would certainly have taken it, but nothing to do. Back to the video... it's fascinating how you tell your vision about Harry Cane, as a child I had Mr. play the villain. Dog, because it seemed to me a rival in some way of Johnny Thunder, of course, I created the stories, starting from the photos of the brochures, and never having had this set, I could not imagine the boys were on the same side, my only set with Harry is the seaplane biplane, which unfortunately I have never been able to rebuild, too many missing pieces. Of course I would have also wanted the temple of Anubis, never had and today at unattainable prices, the airship has always been my dream, I was also disturbed by the wheels below and the "gondola" so much disproportionate has never made me crazy ... But the idea that the fuselage even the container... ah what a pleasure ... I would like to buy it myself now that I am an adult, but I have difficulty finding used ones on the internet. Beautiful review, is a super set, nice video compliments!

I also like old LEGO a lot more than new LEGO. Maybe we can do a collaboration? Thanks so much! I have a ton of retrospectives lined up; more Pirates, season 3 & 4 of Adventurers, some space stuff, more Western sets, etc. etc. I’d pretty much like to do a retrospective on every Lego theme ever, lol.
And I’ll definitely keep that in mind! Right now, besides my day job and other side projects, it’s all I can do to put out one retrospective video a week. I actually still have this set from when I was a kid. The parts are scattered in part containers, but I kept the box that it originally came in so I still have all the pieces.

I feel like I've had a few of the Amazon line, but this is the one I remember the most. Unfortunately all of my childhood Lego collection was lost in a hurricane that wiped out my home.
Very nice review again! I got this set for a measly 35 euros 99% complete, I sure got lucky there. The sun disk that was included however was basically gray, no shine left to it 😂

When I was young I had a few of these jungle sets along with the islanders sets from the pirates theme and I made lord Sam sinister get the sun disk the same way Belloq took the idol from Indiana Jones.
Yaaay! This is a REALLY cool adventurers set! I think it's fun that the balloon is also a container for bricks! I never knew that the stickers were that hard to get on there - expecially the shark mouth! There seems to be a lot of rare pieces in this set - probably why there isn't many for sale on BL! The figs are really cool! Ha ha ha - I love that you gave Harry such a nice send-off! Great! :-) Thanks for your thoughts on getting this - I'm not sure I'll be looking for this anytime soon - it's just too expensive! Keep up the good work :-)

I really like your videos and I think you should do a season two of the pirates. But this time with the red coats. My favorite Lego pirate set with the red coats in it is set 6277, the Impirial trading post.

Another great review. Sadly you didn't make a "Harry Cane Tribute"-Theme to play while you waved him goodbye :D However the he will live on in our hearts forever.
My copy of the set has cost me 17 Euros on ebay, so I'd say that was a good deal. It is incomplete tho and I need to get some missing parts. Also my Blimp is in great condition, except for the fact that when I open it the interior smells like someone used it as an ashtray. Don't know what the former owner did with it...

Do you collect any "new" lego themes? (ones that are in the stores right now) I just wonder because I feel like there is not really anything interesting enough in Legos actual portfolio right now. Except for some Creator models that are kinda cool...
That’s true... I think my best score to date was Pharaoh’s Forbidden Ruins for $40. Or perhaps the Skull’s Eye Schooner with box and everything for $200.
And there’s nothing that I really collect these days specifically, other than the modular buildings. Besides those I kind of cherrypick City, Star Wars, Creator 3in1s, and Ideas. But every time I go Lego shopping it makes me miss the old non-licensed themes a little more...
@@TrikBrix I absolutly know what you mean. I like Star Wars kinda bit, but wasn't a Fan of the new films, so the lego models for those I don't really care for. Creator is cool but I rather save my money to buy some nostalgia with it. There is just nothing so cool, that it would be better than an old pirates, western, adventurers or castle set (my favourite lines lego ever did)
I like most of the films that lego does licensed things for, but the sets are 1. expensive and 2. limited in what the designers can do, as they model after scenes in films.
A few days ago I went to a store with the intention to buy something and in the store I decided to order me a western set on ebay instead. Got myself the sheriff's lock up with the legendary Sheriff Silver (as he was called in germany) alongside Deputy Danny (also german name for the redshirt cowboy)
That happens to me all the time... I look at something like the UCS Millennium Falcon and think: I could buy so many pirate ships instead, lol. But I do still want to get that one someday.
I did just finally pick up the 2018 Hospital, which I thought had a cool design. Still, it was $100 I could’ve put towards M:Tron or something... 😕
And I love the Sheriff’s Lock Up! Excellent choice!
Don't hate me for it, but I got it last year on ebay for just under 12€. With (heavily damaged) box but without shrine and Rudo. Blimp in good condition though.
Probably the greatest deal in my life.
I just wish I had this as a child. It's such a unique thing to have and jolly fun to play with. And there's a sense of pride in owning it.

It IS crazy how much sellers ask for this one... I cringed as I placed my order for it.
Rock Raiders is certainly a possibility, although right now I only own one small set, so it might be awhile. Eventually I’d like to cover every set from the 80s & 90s; if I could just win the dang lottery! Lol

No, the one I have is 4920 Rapid Rider (I had to go look, lol). I remember my brother had one or two of the medium sized sets, like the Loader Dozer, and I liked the teal bricks and a lot of the specialized elements.
I wonder what it would be like to get this set without the blimp piece, and just brick building a replacement instead.

I was tempted by this set until I learned the blimp wasn't harder plastic and is prone to damage. Just not worth the going price to me, although it does look great.
I loved this Thing since i first saw it in lego racers 2 ! But nowadays one in good condition costs around 240-300€
You know if I ever get this set I think i'll just try building that bug mech thing that Rudo is riding and just use the balloon as pieces storage.
I wonder if the bug mech is steam powered... 😄
@@TrikBrix Maybe....? Aren't the Adventurers themes set in the 1920s when coal/steam powered stuff was still in main production before petroleum took over?
Yeah, although they did have gas powered cars and truck, but I think most big machinery was still steam powered at the time.
I had that blimp piece for over 20 years and recently had to throw it out due to it taking up so much space :(
I'm pretty dumb I could have sold it for over a hundred. Was in perfect shape.
On one hand I'm sad to see Harry Cane go out of the Adventurers theme for sure! But on the other hand, I kinda see why he didn't return in future sub-themes. I mean, we had Johnny Thunder the obvious leader and man of action of the group, we had Dr. Lightning the brains of the bunch and miss Gail Storm the feisty reporter, compared to them Harry comes off as somewhat bland. But still, I agree with the fact that he must have been the wisecracking somewhat reckless daredevil of the group. Perhaps Lego was afraid to be sued by Disney for having a character similair to Launchpad McQuack, I don't know.
I don’t know why I always liked him so much... but for me Harry was second only to Johnny as far as favorites go. And the fact that he got replaced with Mike in Dino Island still bugs me, lol.
I’m sure Lego had their reasons. Perhaps he didn’t test as well with kids or something like that. We’ll probably never know.

I really want to take one of those pirate ships Lego made and turn this blimp into proper air ship. Alas, the price would cost too much.
It's a shame they never made any other blimp sets. I like them much more than normal old planes.

When I compare my balloon to this it’s a little sad. But boy you can’t say that thing wasn’t loved.
Quite surprised people really like this set. I had this as a kid (still have) and remember not being a big fan, esecially because the big blimp piece not being that versatile to play with.
It was my favourite set as a kid and still is. The idea of a floating base/research lab/exploration vehicle really appealed to me, plus airships are just plain cool.

Harry Cane did appear in Lego Soccer Mania as a member of the Adventurers Pilots team. But i'm not sure if that really counts.

@@TrikBrix Maybe, classic Lego games don't really have any proper continuity between them or the sets.
Older Lego themes didn't really have a massive plot to them like someone dies or something like modern themes. Adventurers has some plot but not a heavy one which is where the whole ''you imagine and decide what happens'' comes in.
I already came up with a reason to why Rudo is nowhere to be seen in the Amazon Ancient Ruins set
That’s one of my favorite things about vintage Lego; it was all about imagination.

@@TrikBrix I just simply thought that some time before arriving at the ruins Palomar backstabbed Rudo and abandoned him. As Palomar is on his own in 5986. There's an old magazine which gives a rather subtle hint that Palomar doesn't care about Rudo as the comic features them almost being getting caught by a giant spider but Johnny and Kilroy help them by using the anchor of the balloon. And what does Palomar say to Rudo? Tells him to let go of the anchor cuz he's too heavy even though there's a giant killer spider on the ground waiting to gobble them up. Yeah Palomar just told Rudo to give up his life just so Palomar can save his own sorry behind. I think Palomar simply saw Rudo as a tool to get through the jungle and find the treasures. To be honest I think Rudo has come from a more rougher and harsh background then Palomar, considering he looks all rugged and Palomar is all fancy looking in white

Back in the day for 20$ (just in America) it was worth it. In other countries it costed more than 20$.
Now? Well, if you're collector and have plenty of money to blow just to have in room showing like in museum then probably yes.
Other than that, no.
If it came with 5986, it'd be useful.

Honestly I think this set is highly over priced and not worth it for me. I think ill just by the pieces and then make a custom blimp to go on it.
The high price cones from the rarity. Most people would have thrown away the blimp piece mistaking it for a non-lego object.
