first of all The Bible is complicated enough. And what your trying to explain has complicated it even more in my view. I love this film The Gospel of John. It has brought new light and meaning to me. I have seen it more than 20 times and I continue to watch it, because every time I do I see or understand something new.
I understand the film of the Gospel of John only uses the words from the Bible so in that sense is God's Word. But it doesn't use the whole of the Gospel. Tim generally makes things easier to understand and those teachings can be found elsewhere. I am enjoying that he explains this book in detail. I found reading it initially quite confusing. How has John's Gospel changed your life? Cheers.
Thank you! Yes, yes! Ha! I cannot get past chapter one. Constantly the words of the first part come to me over and over, and yet, i know i still am missing more after all of these years! I love how you showed the faceted illustration, so perfect, so rich...the depth we might miss. Also, if you read all of the Johns, "love" is repeated more than any other books. He also uses blunt language about anyone who misses that part of Jesus message. Fascinating! Thank you.

At 20:00mins, when you say the differences between Matthew and John's writings, it's like Matthew was pushing it so hard that could be unbearable, and John seems slight of hand about it, it's like, we kinda need to be in the middle of that. Like we know the truth, but we need to know our past to understand our future, we need to relearn what this all means in a loving way, of not pushing, but showing our actions in a loving way.
Tim has really encouraged me to enjoy reading the Bible. But no one understood the Bible and that includes the OT until after Jesus explained it to them and then only after the Resurrection. The writers didn't come up with these amazing Gospels on their own. They are reflecting the very words and teachings of Jesus himself. When Matthew quotes examples from the OT he is quoting Jesus Himself. When he says 'He will be called a Nazarene' it was Jesus who explained it too him.
when Jesus (yeshua) taught about people who are led by the spirit... I always thought he was teaching US how to live I think he was hinting that HE is doing some weirdness next-level stuff and we're not going to understand it he was teaching about HIMSELF yes, it can supply to us as well but I think that passage was MOSTLY about "him"

This video is being broken into multiple parts as searching thru five hours of material can be a difficult task. The entire video can be found online or at this archive in multiple parts as I can find the natural breaks and process into separate videos in my spare time. Can definitely see something at play in the nervous energy of some and their comments here and their need to have it all at once and right now. I would encourage everyone to take in manageable amounts of material and contemplate what God would have for you in those sometimes small morsels. An hour is far from a small morsel either.
Is it possible that the Gospel according to John does not contain an account of the Passover meal because it’s described in a previous Passover in chapter 6?

He does usually go on a lot of tangents but mostly always help me understand the material better than if he condensed it down too much. You can try watching his stuff at higher playback speed if you want, might be worth it for you
