I don’t think any AI music is going to sell a lot. Even my favorite artist I don’t want to listen to some fake AI shit that isn’t them.
Honestly, I don’t even like these fake rap songs where fans take a beat and then just take like three random artist like ice cube, Eminem and Snoop Dogg and try to pass it off is real. I think it’s corny.
The first three 2Pac albums that came out after he died. I really liked, but that was really 2Pac. I think the problem with what happened was they started trying to release everything as quick as possible. He had seven albums worth of material and they kept releasing a 2Pac album. It felt like every year or every other year.
I don’t have a problem with what his family had done with it but the stuff that Suge knight had the rights to and everything death row release they just made it overkill to where it didn’t feel special anymore. Imagine in 2024. They had only released four of the albums after the Makaveli album. I think those albums would still be good today. But Suge kept throwing everything he could together to keep selling 2Pac albums, and then he started remixing those albums.
If I could have a face-to-face conversation with Dr. Dre, I would seriously talk to him about the idea of these hundreds of songs that everyone that he’s worked with keeps talking about and try to set something up so like if something happens to him or Eminem or Snoop Dogg or 50 or Xzibit or Kurupt or whoever to use some of that because all of those guys I just named have all said they’ve done hundreds of songs with Dr. Dre that have never seen the light of day.
But the AI stuff? I’m not going to ever listen to that. It’s not the artist I don’t even care if they give permission.
I feel differently about movies though, because those are actors playing characters. So they portraying somebody else anyway but as far as music goes, that’s too personal to try to duplicate like that.
I got 1 ai song I like but I listen to the original artist version that made it as well. I just happen to like the ai person's voice that was used to cover it. So I can see the appeal of AI from a consumer stand point especially as time progresses cuz younger generations like what older generations perceive as weirder and weirder stuff.
It won't appeal to everybody but people already like things that aren't genuine. You can see it everywhere in every facet of life. We are definitely heading towards some black mirror Rick and Morty dystopian levels of technology. I can totally see 20 years from now people being completely enamored with totally AI generated artists, influencers, politicians, entertainers, and anything else you can think of as we further collectively lose what it means to be human.
