My favorite thing really is to hear other guitar players just riff/jam/woodshed. Love seeing great players just play, not perform, just wank around. Naturally in person jamming with others is great hearing first hand people noodling.
I always thought the Duncan SH6 was one of the keys to the Sykes tone so I put one in my Les Paul but I was proven wrong here with PAFs. Great video! This is what I feel defines the 80s guitar tone. To me it's the best tone of the 80s hair metal bands..

Coverdale robbed himself and us from another great WS album. Slip of the tongue wasn't bad, but with Sykes it would be much juicier and heavier and I dare say better.

Great guitar tone ! Super tight and 80’s ! I was suprised when I saw their main tone comes from a Mesa mark amp... I always thought they used Marshall heads. Again great work ! Would that IR work on my AX8?

I took a MB-C300 for a drive in ‘90; that monster 1/2 stack was so juicy on it’s own, it just didn’t need anything, besides my usual reverse delay habit. Amazing monster.

That LP has the best flame, and that burst is just cool, and it reminds me of seeing Kiss and he had one if the Dimarzio super distortion pickups in that creme color like you. I never forgot that. i ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TONE....I added it to my rig and added the 5150 blue amp in parallel and mixed the blue in just to add some bottom for me. I'm going from my Axe FX iii to a carvin 1000 watt stereo amp into (2) Mesa 4x12 cabs! It is my live scene set up now. PERFECT!

I have the Katana Artist for bedroom jamming. I've nailed this tone with the Brown setting deep resonance a TS, delay and reverb on my Les Paul with a Duncan SH6 and SG with an SH5. It honestly sounds better than my EVH does.. The Katana Artist kicks ass for what it is.. I'm buying the WAZA headphones soon as well.

Adrian Brandenburg really laid it down on that album. Whitesnake was was here in Detroit 3 times for the tour of that album. Once at Cobo Arena and twice next door at Joe Louis Arena ("The Joe") Happy to say I was all 3 shows.
Ok sir, you seem to be very good with the Axe effects stuff. Is it basically a computer program and you use speakers (not an amp) with it? Kind of like a Helix? I like the tones you get for your 80's stuff (like the tones i hear in my head) so im trying to wrap my head around something to get when my wife lets me make my GUITAR CAVE :)

@@LeonTodd Bad Boys and We All Fall Down Live from Bad Boy Live (2004) is the Syke tone that made me fell in love with him. I guess I always stuck with the modded 800 because of this. But the more I listen to your Mesa clip, I see more and more similarity!
just in case you didn't know, apparently on the album he used a mark III coliseum slaved into another Mark III coliseum with some sort of chorus between the two!!!

@@LeonTodd I tried the two c++ as well it seems to be warmer and less kinda like fizzy I would give it a shot. I think it’s closer to the III who knows. I heard he used a coliseum head for that recording with the ev and celestion speakers.

It’s interesting that you went with a mesa amp, to my understanding he’d used a jcm 2000 combo to record the whitesnake album. Why not a Marshall amp? You can also hear a chorus effect on the album. The chorus is real subtle and warbley on the rhythm guitars, but definitely there.
Martin makes great stuff. I'm not sure what the exact specs are on these but if you email him and ask what he did with these in sure he'll be able to sort you out.
On this note.... I'm really digging the tone Aldrich has on the 2004 Live dvd. It's SO saturated, sharp and fizzy but not in the usual way that would sound horrible. It's a kind of fizz i've not came across before. Incredible tone. Having a hard time getting even close on my Ax3. Any ideas?

Sykes is one of a kind! Fractal don't do NAMM as they sell direct, so i'd keep my eyes peeled for the FM3 when it hits the market.

For this kind of thing it's always a toss up between this and the C++ - the C++ is a bit tighter but this one rules for ultra juicy stuff.

It's a hardware modelling preamp. You can connect it direct to powered monitors (that's what I do) or use a power amp and guitar cab.

@@totc6196 these pickups are pretty bright for humbuckers, so you can always add a little more treble and dial the bass back a tad more
