Lowkey, the friendship (or at least I assume so) between Mandalore and Sseth is some of the most beautiful, heartwarming thing - in a shitposty, degenerate kind of way.

Sseth you've given me hundreds of hours of good games thus far with your reviews. Thank you for dredging through the muck to give us the hidden gems that we've passed over/missed. Normally vg reviews are a dime a dozen and are full of shills. You sir are not a shill. You are as real as it comes.
Agreed. I've encountered more amazing games that are easily some of my favorites (Starsector in particular) that Sseth alone directed me towards. If he is a shill, he's one I respect. His legendary invasion of the Qud fandom still resounds in my memory.
Ross is my favorite UA-camr by far. He's like a mad genius of video game content. Wish he'd upload more often, but despite his longs breaks every video he posts is pure gold and extremely rewatchable.
Thank you for noticing this. I feel like Sseth was ahead of the curve with his editing style for years, and then youtube became green screen meme/zoom spam at faster and faster pacing which makes his older videos seem 'slow'. But now, he's doubled down on the density of his editing and outpaced everyone by also keeping the writing quality high. Seriously Sseth is a cut above because he's actually fucking funny which most people have no hope of imitating
I'm actually genuinely happy with how Sseth has started matching their edge with some tonal breaks. The intensity of their earlier content inspired a lot of shitty behaviour and people unironically doing stuff Sseth was doing ironically. Edgy shit is fun when it stays in an appropriate place, but gets nasty when people start harassing people who aren't in on the joke (looking at you, Qud). Love the review, grabbed up the game on GoG. As a Sidenote, alot of the mechanics are a mix of HoMM and Age of Wonders, especially the options when you conquer a city to convert, pillage or set as a producing city only. the limited armies are also closer to AoM.
Age of Wonders 3 was a lot of fun. A lot of people gave it negative reviews though because they thought it was a 4x game for some reason. O_o Just goes to show that the concept of a Heroes of Might and Magic game was lost on a lot of people.
“I don’t know where exploits begin and mechanics end.” To me, this is the ultimate sign of a great game. The same thing applies to breath of the wild and it’s what makes that game so great.

Updates to the game: AI has been adjusted to being easier than a cheater, but more intelligent. Auto battles do not take into account spells, skills, or artifacts. The recruitment hub building now pools all creatures together, and leaves an average amount of creatures at each individual dwelling. Cities now allow for units to be upgraded while still within the dwelling, at the cost of upgrading the unit. This tends to be more expensive then recruiting the creature then upgrading it, but makes it easier to recruit upgraded units at recruitment buildings in cities without any dwellings. City walls now significantly changes how towns are defended. Walls have gates, and come with a garrison and turret. Enemies only attack the gate, and then will conqueror the city if they win said battle. The walls also increase small unit dwelling production. Certain creatures now cost a resource to recruit, and others, now don't. For example, the poisoner from the undead faction was never used as they cost meteor to recruit, even though the dwelling is cheaper to build. Now the necromancer creature cost meteor, and the poisoner is just a gold cost. Certain wielders have changed their starting skills, and passives. Repel now triggers attacks of opportunities. (I need to stop. I have around 500 hours in the game...)
one of the best parts of this game so far (in my experience) is how none of the factions are inherently good or evil. arleon makes peace with the fae and protects the forest but they also conquer other cities and rule with an iron fist. barya generally tries to avoid violence any time you confront their mercenaries but they also sustain themselves through mercenary contracts and slavery the rana were innocent slaves who were stolen from their swamp but they also use this as justification for hatred of all humans loth, like barya, tries to avoid violence and are reacting to the aggression of arleon but they also fill up their armies by raising peoples relatives from the dead
yeah, its really cool how these factions are set up but I find the lore to still be too thin at the moment. i hope the later dlc campaigns do more to expand on their lore, especially Loth's since Aurelia seems to have a lot more going on with her in her current form.
I mean, technically speaking, Loth is the most moral faction out of the three, since they don't have to resort to conscription. Their human units are fanatical zealots of the Unseen Society who have already signed their life away for the recreation of the Aurelian Empire. The rest are either undead (which might as well be magical robots, only a bit ickier. Sure you might feel a little sad to see granpa's tomb desecrated but would you prefer to have your son forcefully drafted to fight and die for the baron?) or rats, which are simply animals. Arleon conscripts peasants to fight their wars, Barya is an enslaver plutocracy and the Rana want to make humanity go extinct.
@@triplehelix3207 And that’s a good thing, the fae are a temperamental blight on the human settlements of Arleon, razing entire towns to the ground over the most minor of slights.

@@boarfaceswinejaw4516 That's called Sturgeon's Law and though it's true that it always applied even at the best of times, that's not really a good description of the times. When your captains of industry (aka, "AAA" big money publishers) are only interested in producing online casinos instead of actual games, it's time to get worried because that's how the market crashes. And yes, it's happened before. Excess shovelware and a "devil may care" standard for quality killed Atari scarcely two years after they peaked back in 1983. It's not unthinkable to worry that it could happen again. Lets say for the sake of argument, that the games industry makes 1000 games a year. Lets say in an average year, about 50 of those games are worth playing. That fulfills Sturgeon's Law. And you're still going to notice if that number dips to 30 or less. What we're seeing today isn't just a bad year or two, but effectively an entire era where that number is closer to 10 or less. So even though both 50 out of 1000 and 10 out of 1000 reasonably fulfill the conditions for your qualitative statement, the latter is far more cause for alarm than the former. When I can count on one bloody hand the number of AAA games even marginally worth playing in the past five years (or in just the past two years when broadening my search to stuff beyond my personal taste and just using the basic logic of "games sold as games and not online casinos") maybe it's time to stop playing these semantic word games and acknowledge that our hobby market is racing towards disaster.

Updates to the game:
AI has been adjusted to being easier than a cheater, but more intelligent.
Repel now triggers attacks of opportunities.

one of the best parts of this game so far (in my experience) is how none of the factions are inherently good or evil.
arleon makes peace with the fae and protects the forest but they also conquer other cities and rule with an iron fist.
barya generally tries to avoid violence any time you confront their mercenaries but they also sustain themselves through mercenary contracts and slavery
the rana were innocent slaves who were stolen from their swamp but they also use this as justification for hatred of all humans
loth, like barya, tries to avoid violence and are reacting to the aggression of arleon but they also fill up their armies by raising peoples relatives from the dead
yeah, its really cool how these factions are set up but I find the lore to still be too thin at the moment. i hope the later dlc campaigns do more to expand on their lore, especially Loth's since Aurelia seems to have a lot more going on with her in her current form.
@@bluewingedknight7762 I'm pretty sure that Loth also want to kill all the faey as evidenced by Words of Wiesh

Might be the first time we've heard Sseth _apologize_ for a joke like that. Shocking.
Losing his mojo
i hope they don't try to balance the magic too hard. "when everything is OP then nothing is OP" is the balance philosophy for some of my favorite games
AS long as every spell has it's own niche, i'm so tired of games where 90% of the spellbook is worthless because a handful of spells are so powerful in raw killing power that bothering with utility is a waste.
I’d just balance initiative to make sure the other player gets a turn. That magic system is fun as hell to use.
@@sarabihyena Yeah, that. If some spells are so OP that they just win the fight, then there's no real reason to use anything else.
@@sarabihyena I, too, play Total War Warhammer.
Why bring niche utility spells when you can just blow up a unit with a couple of clicks? (Or multiple units in the case of burning head)
Sseth tried to warn us about Mr. Beast.
01:14 - This sure aged well...
Okay but the sprite work is genuinely so good, im in love with all of these idle animations
1:11 aged gold
His reviews actually encourage me to give the game a try, despite the genre being of no interest to me.
Yeah same
Do it. I've played many games solely on sseth's "recommendation" and have regretted a grand total of absolutely none.
A rookie's mistake.
Once i was like you, and i bought Wizardry 8. Guess how many times i launched it?
Twice.
On other hand tho, Sseth also introduced me to Impressive Games city builders, which i bought as well, but actually enjoyed playing.
But again, i liked city builders beforehand, unlike dungeon crawlers.
back then, unbelievers thought that mr.beast bit was just a joke but now...!
praise allah for his gift of foresight to Sseth
My man, that's some quality content right there. One of the greatest videos you've ever made. I can see love and passion in this one. Thanks a lot for your work, I really appreciate it. Have a good one
this whole review turned into ssethtzeentach fighting with the exploit fix team
brilliant
my favorite INTP
I've enjoyed the game for what it has to offer, even though it's in EA, I think it has the opportunity to be the next big HOMM-inspired tbs a lot of people have been waiting for.

@@ハク-q6e1j why the fuck would that even matter tho? Are you so concerned with politics that you let it dictate what game you do and don't play?
@@ハク-q6e1j
As if Sseth hasn't made a video on a "woke" game already with a Caves of Qud review.
@@ハク-q6e1j
i think the game had a single brown woman, so definitely way too woke and indicative of the fall of western civilization and by buying it you doom us all.
alternatively: just try the fucking game if it seems interesting and dont be ideologically fragile.
The MrBeast joke really was a huge prediction huh.
Every minute of listening to Sseth describe any video game he plays, especially one he is *enjoying immensely* is like being transported into a pocket dimension of time and space where one floats high on the brap fusion powered drive of his cadence and verisimilitude.
The artstyle of this game is on point, looks really good.
I agree, but I honestly find it extra disappointing when a game has really well done art and an (apparent) dearth of cute girls.
I don't really judge games by their graphics; I'm fine with playing a game that's full text-based if it's fun.
But when a game IS really pretty and the developer is (seemingly) avoiding having any cute girls in the game at all costs it absolutely kills my interest in it. I just know that if I play it I'll be spending the whole time thinking "Dang, what a waste."
Of course that's just my subjective tastes; I know there are people who feel the exact opposite way and even a single cute girl in a game is enough to immediately ruin it for them.

_"Welders"_ (pronounced: "weld-er") fuse together pieces of metal by partially melting them with high heat.
_"Wielders"_ (pronounced: "weeld-er") are people that grasp, hold, clutch, possess, obtain or otherwise acquire something to be used for a specified purpose. In the case of this game, your Wielder has the ability to _wield_ (hence the name) the Essence (hence the name) of life generated by those under their command and convert it into magic.
i was confused as why would they name their magicians fucking "welders" thanks for clearing this out
The explains why some ppl pronounce dual wielding as dual welding. Mutants
Part of Sseth’s charm is his fucked pronunciation
I actually think he knows how it's pronounced, he just did it on purpose.
@@MrMrtvozornik Yeah he's been doing this for a while now. Especially when it comes to weeb terms like ''doujin'' and shit. He does it on purpose just to get a rise from the degenerates that suck the long shaft of Japanese popculture. So therefore we can conclude he does it on purpose with other terms. Like ffs, he studied medicine, OF COURSE he actually knows how to pronounce simple words.
Sseth can Truly Tell if someone's Evil, he called out Mr.Beast like the demon he is. XD
The inclusion of Ross Scott is a cry for help, as Sseth is presently locked in Ross's Game Dungeon™
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the nod to this legend
He called him a grug lmao
I love it :D
Ross is in my top 3 youtube creators, when I saw his face pop up on the screen I cackled "How you gonna do my boy dirty like that?!?" the grug comment and his face on the predator list killed me
Ross is cool.
Ok, this game is great, it is currently 3:34am and I didnt realise becuase I was so enthralled by Songs of Conquest. Everything you said was accurate, some a little esoteric until I realised what was going on. Excellent review. I still want that DLC discount tho... If Seth didnt convince you, I am sure I wont be able to, but this is a really great game. Especially if you liked the Might and Magic games.
Just when I thought humanity couldn't be more stupid, I'm now just finding out that a new social media trend is making people believe that if they cause mild, possibly irreparable damage to the upper part of their nose, it'll attract more women. Don't get me wrong Seth, because this is a funny video -- but finding this out is something I wish I didn't know.
Same this is the first time I hear about it. It feels like Sseth does this on purpose - he discovered something completely fucked up and then he shares it with people who HE KNOWS probably haven't heard about it yet.
The next thing you know, people believe in skinwalkers.
Tattoos, ritual scaring and assorted body mods have been in use for longer than clay pottery. You already knew this, you just chose to forget.

Don't mind me, just re-watching this video during the entire MrBeast downfall saga going on-
Oh, that aged pretty well, isn't it?..
"downfall" is kind of a grand word, more like funny meme
5:35 if both players wait all their units, it effectively reverses the turn order priority (based on move speed)
I have never ever said this but Sseth really is the best youtuber out there. He is the only human alive that can get me to watch a review of a game all the way through while also making me smile and giggle, making me question just how straight I really am because he makes me feel things.
I love how Sseth just continues to stretch his friendship with Mandalore with the pedophila jokes.
It's doubly funny given that the "lore" is that SSETH is Mandalore's Tyler Durden and vice versa.
What other videos make referemce of this? I found it hilarious
