I passed my test 3 weeks back and have been driving on my own for 2 weeks, I'm now constantly watching this channel to improve my awareness and driving skills. The only thing I need to get fitted is a dashcam. Ashley's videos are very good and informative for new drivers 👏🏿.. before I passed this channel became my goto ... Ashley, if you see this comment, thank you very much for your content and hard work. It is very much appreciated 👏🏿
I know Ashley is partnered with Viofo, so he would say they are good. But they actually are. I had a Nextbase and whilst it was not terrible, the clarity of the picture particulaly at low light/night time was not great compared to the Viofo which is crystal clear all the time. So having owned both, I would say Viofo are way superior in terms of picture quality. They also last longer on batteries as well, the Nextbase lasts about 10 seconds off the mount and then dies. And the code works as well!
Wete you taurght to give way at roundabouts?
@@sedumjpI’ve had both nextbase and now I’m using Viofo. For me the latter is a far better Dashcam the quality of vision in day and night are far better.
@@sedumjp
I didn't think the Viofo had any batteries (instead they use a capacitor)...so how long does the Viofo last on its capacitor if unplugged?
Congratulations on your test, hope you enjoy the freedom the licence will give you, I'm 81, and watch this channel for the same reasons as you: awareness and driving skills. I also want to anticipate what other drivers/riders/pedestrians will do.
13:45 I hate these "two-lanes-except-not-really" roads where the left lane is permanently blocked with parked cars. They're everywhere here in the south of Glasgow. Don't pretend the road's got two lanes if it hasn't!
Bonus points when they could shift the lane markings over a little and have two running lanes and marked parking area in each direction.
Completely agree, even worse when you're not familiar with the road and end up stuck in the left lane while nobody will let you back in. It probably encourages people to hog the right-hand lane on dual carriageway and motorways too.
@@MrHabushi I live in Cornwall and it's exactly the same. More annoyingly is the trend of just not bothering to park on your own driveway! We have loads of drives on our road the owners can't be bothered to park in!!
My girlfriends street is the same but they do it even worse they swap sides half way for some reason so you cant even stop to give way before it there's no space behind you to slip past so you need to give way the whole stretch from either end if someone's already coming up its a joke.
@@wildlifetails We have this problem where I am as well, the problem is that a lot of these driveways where I am were built 20-30 years ago and cars get 5cm wider every 10 years on average which means so many cars simply can't fit on the drive now. This is also why a lot of older car parks are beginning to have problems as the size of spaces was determined almost 40 years ago at this point where cars were a full 20cm narrower than today. The standard space size used to be I think 2 metres x 4.8 metres. My current car is 1887mm wide.
I was driving to a do a test for work north of glasgow and there was 2 lanes for quite a while, then the left lane suddenly turns into a bus lane after one of the set of lights, very poorly painted, so I don't even know if it is actually a bus lane, but I wasn't risking it, I just moved over and stuck to the right lane, which caused its own problems too. Other drivers were still driving in that lane, yet on the other side, people seemed to stay out of the bus lane on the other side, so one in use, one isnt? I dont know! I hate driving in areas I haven't been before!
People using their emergency lights to park wherever they like is so common now and incredibly frustrating, especially in the city centre where it usually blocks a whole lane just so they can park a little closer
It also looks like they're signalling to pull off if there's anyone parked behind them blocking the view of the other indicator.
and even more annoying when they park in a parking space at the side of the road with a vehilce behind them and the hazard lights on, makes it look like they want to emerge. just autopilot by them. i was stuck behind a few cars once because the lead car thought that the delivery van was wanting out of the parking space and they wanted to take it, all they could see was the right indicator. there was a lot of traffic coming head on so we could not overtake either. after a few minutes the delivery driver come back, emerged and drove off then turned the hazards off. the lead car was really annoyed by the looks of it once they had parked as they could not work out it was hazard lights.
honestly until recently, i thought it was ok to do so. Was only after a video by Ash that I looked into it and was shocked that yes, it is against the highway code to use them to stop on double yellows. And since then, I have stopped doing that when I go pick my friend up for work. Instead I find a space several meters away and make him walk, instead of stopping on the main highstreet with my hazards on. He said im being a dick, but I told him I'm not going to break the highway code and risk either a fine or points just so he doesnt have to walk 30 seconds to my car
My personal bugbear is Old Hall Street, it's not very long, but I drive along it twice a week for work. I can count the number of days I've not seen someone parking like a knob on one hand.
At 13:35 I hate it when a car behind in Lane 2 doesn't even give you a fair chance to get back into Lane 1 and instead, they cut into Lane 1 themselves rather suddenly and undertake. Thus causing you to be stuck in Lane 2 even longer and no doubt labelling you as a lane hog. Sometimes, when other drivers behind see this, they start copying the first car that undertook you, leaving you stuck in Lane 2.
There's a small number of people who insist that if you can be passed on the left, you should be in the left lane. Give me a chance mate! This often happens when I'm leaving space after overtaking an HGV, and besides, it's often simply not true. What they mean is they want to treat the road like it's a race track, even though they'd almost certainly get monstered on a real track.
Bet you’re driving too slow, it’s almost always the case from personal experience. If you don’t want to be undertaken (except by criminals because they’ll undertake anyway) then drive the speed limit.
When I was driving to a job interview doing a route i've never done before I got pinned into Lane 2 going the speed limit with a 4x4 right at my arse and a 4x4 right next to me, eventually the one in lane 1 undertook me and she had the audacity to shake her head at me.
I live by the promotion of creating pockets of space Ashley advises because you have no idea what kind of situations you can end up in, for others and yourself.
@ Listen up everyone, Kieran's speaking.
I'll hold my hands up and say there's been a time or two I've moved over, anyway, before they had the chance to accelerate, which has, if done correctly, resulted in them being stuck behind me while the people behind them overtake. it's petty, but perhaps one will learn patience from it.
13:35 this is why I try not to swap lanes with tailgaters. By the time you've made the judgement to swap lanes, they're already going for the gap.
Or the straddle position…if they won’t get upset too much
I've had that happen a couple of times, with one who went _after_ I indicated and started moving left, ultimately resulting in him using the merging slip road on the left to pass me - which was the reason I delayed pulling back in the first place. Such impatience, and usually just to tailgate the next car down the road, which this one did.
It’s not always the swapping lanes that’s the issue it’s the speed of the car in front a lot of the time.
Because I drive to the speed limit, only criminals undertake me and I’m fine with that because criminals will do illegal things anyway.
The bus stop incident at 16:00 reminded me that I had to steer a pupil out of a lay-by under similar circumstances. Unfortunately, this was an advanced lesson for an ADI who was preparing for an advanced test. Worse than that, he was the boss of a local driving school an worse still, there were two of his instructors in the back seat.
There's an instructor who regularly stops on double yellow lines outside our office for a cigarette break and a chat with his student. Like you, Ashley, I think it teaches the student that some rules of the road can be ignored on a whim.
I don't think that's what he was saying
When I passed my test many years ago I wanted to get dropped off in town so I coupd get “celebration” money out of the cashpoint. My instructor drove me to the nearest car park aftet I asked to be dropped off outside and made a point of double yellows are not a drop off location
Good instructor he was and very subtle with his teachings
@@smilerbob You are allowed to drop off on double yellows and also load/unload unless otherwise stated.
@@joshywoshy2530 Correct, but is that a good example to set by an ADI when there is an alternative just around the corner? 👍
6:50 Dark clothes, no (rear) lights, no reflectors - Deadly
And all too common.
see morons doing this all the time....
Some claim that dark cloths make no difference in the dark. The clip showed that this is complete nonsense. It is very rarely pitch black & those wearing dark clothing soon disappear into the background.
@@TheRip72 It is remarkably easy and cheap to wear a Hi-Vis waistcoat that is highly visible in all circumstances. I wear one on my bike, cycle and when walking the dog, particularly at night and in all weathers over all sorts of different clothing.
On the visibility front the funniest thing I have seen is a group of runners that mostly had jet block clothing but the tail end Charlie, obviously someone's wife/gf was wearing a harness with a flashing red light at the back. The trouble was that they were running against the traffic as they should and the red light was on the opposite side of the road for following drivers to add real confusion into the mix as they were obviously moving!
6:41 the fact they had no intention of looking while jumping the red lights or even slowing, they just rode through like there wasn't a junction, and this along with no lights is getting worse, and I mainly blame the no police presence on the roads anymore, here in Lincolnshire they've just got rid of 400 officers in cutbacks, who is left to do any policing, this country is going downhill real fast.
In the early 80s I rode my bike to the chinese takeaway a mile away, I had lights but was stopped by police as the rear battery had died, he made me get off the road and walk the bike on the pavement, and to make sure he drove by a couple times to see if i'd got back on when he left.
12:47 reminds me of the Limmy bit every time
8:49 it was coming your direction, oversteered in the corner, smacked the railing and then finished the rotation to come to rest where it did.
I agree.
6:35 .. Have this all the time in my town, a dark area with the glare of bright light behind in the distance, and they appear out of the dark wearing dark clothes on a black bike with no lights coming diagonally from across the road straight at you.
Great bit of editing at the start with the title. Video started playing in preview mode and I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me when your head moved across the text 😂
the pixels on top of his head made it look like he greenscreened himself into his own car? I don't know why but I found that hilarious 😂
The Driving Instructor parked on double yellows - my lessons were basically the Instructor going round visiting his mates and doing a bit of shopping. Oddly enough, it helped me relax and drive different routes every lesson.
That's what happens when you have lessons with your Dad 😅
I pay £60 for a 90-minute lesson at the moment so I'd be very annoyed if the instructor wasn't making the most of the time 😂 mine has a very similar mindset to Ashley thankfully
That Car Vertical report looks suspect on its own…the lack of MOT beyond November 2021 is probably due to the Car Vertical report being run in April 2022 so there is no need for an MOT
Learnt something new again today, as usual from Ashley!
Did not know that the U-turn block was due to conflicting pedestrian crossing times, but makes sense!
I also had a look at 1:18 in google maps, and whilst it's clear to most people with common sense that the right hand lane is to turn only, it's not made clear on the road markings, or the signage beforehand which just says turn right for XYZ.
The road needs to be painted with arrows there to make it clear, those people obviously knew what they were doing trying to get ahead of the learner car, but they need to make those lanes clearly marked.
8:48 I'm sure that Land Rover driver behind you was going to go for a dodgy overtake before they saw the police car and backed off 😆
The last clip, I had my car written off at that junction several years ago; I was travelling where your car is and two cars came from the right, one being chased by the other, yes, ‘chased’, both went straight across the junction at about 40 miles an hour and as you can see in your clip, the cars on the hardstanding blocked my view. I saw the first car, but it was the second one that got me. Straight to the scene of the accident as Martin Brundle says.😅 I managed to brake, but it was a token gesture and I ended up T-boning the second car. It spun down Cherry Lane doing a 180° turn and I just sat there in the road thinking ‘bugger’. The passenger ran off after hiding his face from me and had the police done a little more digging who knows what dodgy business they would have uncovered… I’ve still got my ‘souvenir’ breathalyser tube to this day. 🙂
At around 5:43 it always intrigues me that it's up to opposing drivers turning right to decide amongst each other whether to turn offside to offside or nearside to nearside. Perhaps it's time to standardize this, with exceptions only for staggered crossroads? Of course, the challenge is, how many drivers would be aware of any rule changes.
It was always taught to pass offside to offside as this gave the maximum view of oncoming traffic. Where you are supposed to pass nearside to nearside, markings on the road will tell you.
@clivewilliams3661 True, though issues can occur if there's more than one vehicle in either direction wanting to turn right. I've actually seen whereby opposing lines of right turning vehicles block each other whilst attempting offside to offside.
@@ibs5080 I agree and I suspect the advice was formulated at a time when there was less traffic on the roads, but where the traffic is heavy turning right i.e. more than 2 vehicles in each direction consistently turning right, then the authorities will add arrows to the carriageway. If you have two vehicles in one direction turning right under normal circumstances then the second vehicle ought to hang back to allow the oncoming vehicle space to turn. For me its all about keeping safe as the #1 priority on the roads and having max visibility is part of that.
If the oncoming vehicle takes up a position as show in the video that does not allow offside to offside passing then I wait until they have cleared that gives me the visibility I desire.
the evidence of the pedestrian crossing changes says about 10% and half of those will fight it.
@@clivewilliams3661 in the states, it is offside to offside so you aren't crossing each other's paths.

14:14 i find it increasingly common nowadays where cars will have their DRLs or day lights on at the front but the rear are not on. If i see a car like that in the evening or early morning and i can catch up with them on my bicycle, i let them know that their rear lights are not on.
Unfortunately, the only time they check is when they are stopped which means their brake lights are on an give the false impression the rear lights are on as well.
I think car manufacturers need to have the setting, if you turn on any of your front lights including DRL's, your rear lights come on simultaneously.
@HanOfGod, My 1992 SAAB 900 has DRL's where all the lights come on, how hard would it be for other car makers to do the same ?
i have a 2021 ford transit, the front day time running lights come on as soon as the engine starts and no rear lights are on, i have to manually put the lights on. there is an automatic option for the setting but i dont like using it as i want to keep my memory on top of things, choose when the lights need to be on to the conditions and i dont like the sensors, they dont match my choices as a driver.
i will say when the van was new to me last year in july, coming into winter i did drive off a couple of times without turning the lights on because my brain saw the front daytime lights on and thought the lights were on, my previous mk7 transit van had day time running lights but both front and back lights come on as it was normal dipped beam for DTRL.
the issue is manufacturers are having the front lights come on only, it can confuse people to think their lights are already on. it should be a setting to to choose if you want daytime running lights on or not and they should be front and back lights on. i think they just assume that all drivers should use their automatic light function tech.
I've driven several with automatic DRLs and manual lights. the DRLs are now as bright as the dipped headlights and the instrument panel is always lit, so if a person starts drivign in the daytime, and it goes to dusk, a person tends not to notice they need to turn the lights on. it's even worse that the two I drive most often have automatic headlights.
For making a purchase of such a heavily taxed, and examined article, wouldn't you think that all the information should be out there rather than having to pay for it because only a certain criteria of people can get the information. I'm sure Car Vertical does a great job but there shouldn't be a need for it in the first place.
9:30 So I drive an A1, and I want you all to know we're not *all* like that. Hey, I watch these vids religiously!

@@RichO1701e I'm saving up for an R8!
@11:50 that's an awful design for a pedestrian crossing - hard to tell but with the hoods (if they are on) i wouldn't expect the drivers turning right to be able to see those (if anyone knows where that is on google street view and can have a look). Serious risk to any pedestrians of that happening, why would the council put that there..
A pet hate now is how there is the trend of just not bothering to park on your own driveway! We have loads of drives on our road the owners can't be bothered to park in!! Means backing in, or backing out. Forget that, just park either side and make a decent road with drives for at least 2 cars a chicane. Delivery vans that just park anywhere is another one. Whinge, whinge complain!
Ashley loves a good stare 😂
That odd ST was probably involved in a fairly serious incident or blew the engine, and someone kept it off the road while they acquired parts to fix it.
Or they were running it with someone else's insurance and cloned plates, would be interesting to look at the current mileage compared to the last MOT.
I don't know if anybody noticed, but after 14:50 when the fiesta drives in the bus stop, if you look in the top left cam behind the van there is another car that also drives into the bus stop 😆
Watching your videos has made me look and adjust my own 30yrs of driving ashley, i cant thank u enough for the reflection, a thing i do struggle with is night driving (so try to limit it) with the headlight glare, the same with the winter sun glare, can i ask what glasses youre wearing as iv seen similar but with mixed reviews
15:38 my brothers friend got a fail for that exact thing someone crossed the road 40ft away and he didn't "slow down" for it he had his instructor in the back and he was livid with the examiner for failing him on that when he didn't need to slow so much so he refused to use that test centre again they both did and he passed the next time. Would of loved to see what the examiner would of done if he got that close to someone crossing.
6:40 one has a light, they are evidently still learning how to do ninja cycling properly.
I was expecting the snow on the roof of the range rover to be the issue in that clip around 9:00. Was fully expecting it to slip off and block the windscreen on breaking.
Another opportunity to learn. Thanks Ashley 🌞
9:40 that's absolutely a case of just looking at the bonnet of the car infront. It's honestly scary how much people can just do that when they drive.
Think you are right about where the railing crasher came from the turning on your left. Pulled out a bit smartish and skidded and spun as they hit.
At 9:03, the car in the railings during slippery road conditions. Can't imagine they were driving on Cross Climate 2's with adequate tread... unlike a certain leading driving instructor. 😊
I'm changing my car on Wednesday evening. Booked in for CC2s on Friday. I struggle to trust summer tyres this time of year. Because I'm changing them, no more snow; if I don't, another beast from the east. Just like carrying a brolly.
Is that BSM not implementing the “2 car rule” at 5:35 and blocking a crossing when the lights change?
(I have misjudged spaces before and end up on a crossing, just be careful if you do for more vulnerable users crossing amd help out if you can👍)
The offside and nearside passing thing is interesting….. I reckon 90% of my learners when asked for first time which side is which they either get it wrong or don’t know. I always use passenger and driver’s side, there’s the rare situation of left hand drive vehicles screwing up the principle, but I cover it by saying it’s your passenger and you the driver.
Thank you Ashley.
The first clip: In Canada and USA it's a given that it's always illegal to do a U turn at a "controlled intersection". No specific sign needed. There are however exceptions but only where it's specifically signed "U turn OK", often with arrows to show that both left turns and U turns are ok from the left lane. In such cases, the usual right turn on red is banned for traffic approaching the cross street to the left to avoid potential movement conflicts and pedestrian movements are also taken into account.
Are we saying that in the UK, a U turn at traffic lights are implicitly allowed unless signs say otherwise? Regardless, it's not a manoeuvre I would attempt.
Afternoon Ibrahim. Thanks for your input as always with your comments. How's the treatment going?
actually, it's about 50/50 of states where U turns are allowed unless prohibited, and states where U turns are prohibited unless allowed.
@ashley_neal Hello Ash. How are you and family doing? Thank You very much for asking. My treatments are going very well indeed Thank You and I'm actually feeling / looking quite fit and healthy. Still many more treatment sessions ahead of me but I should be finished by July / August. The good thing is that it's 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off with my treatment schedule. February is an "off" month, though I still have to go to hospital every 7 to 10 days for a PICC line flush. This will be removed at the end of my treatments. Fortunately the hospital is just a 15 min walk from home. They even give me a free monthly parking pass should I chose to drive but I prefer the exercise. Speaking of which, I've resumed my stationary bike workouts here at home. Usually 60 mins and around 32 Kms covered quite easily.
Of course I'm very much grieving the loss of my very dear Mum who passed away on July 3rd, plus going through the whole process of probate for her estate.
I'm doing my best to keep positive and have entered many events in my 2025 diary. I may have to work around some of them for the next little while due to my treatment schedule but no reason why I can't attend most of them, especially if it's just a day trip as opposed to overnight. Once I finish treatments, I'll be back at all my events to the full. Just sad that my very dear Mum won't be with me in person but as far as I'm concerned, she's still always with me. I honestly can't believe she's gone. I'm very happy that you and Liz got the chance to meet her at the NEC Classic Car Restoration Show. Speaking of which, I'd like to be able to attend that again at the end of March but not sure if it's practical this year, purely due to my treatment schedule. Definitely attending in future years and most certainly will be attending the bigger NEC show in November.
I've taken over ownership of Mum's 1978 Mini Clubman which she owned from new. Looking forward to getting it going again in the Spring or Summer.
Anyhow, Thank You again for your well wishes and I look forward to continued viewing and commenting on your channel.
Hope all is well with you and family Ash.

Good day Ashley, I watch your channel with great interest. I have been driving now for over 50 years and hold IAM in car and on motorcycle, I have never crossed my hands whilst driving or parmed my hand over the steering wheel even when driving a bus and HGV,my question is it now allowed for students to cross their hands while driving, it seems to be a regular occurrence here in Bridgend South Wales
What issue is there with crossing hands Chris?
I imagine that for the clip beginning 13:12 you had your roof box on. I can’t imagine what’s going through someone’s head to even try to undertake there, especially when there’s potentially a learner behind the wheel. It’s begging to be crashed into.
what's going through their head is "Must Be In Front of the learner."
I do wonder if that pedestrian at the end is one of those ones, who has read the highway code and thinks he has right away to cross in front of cars now or maybe he is just ignorant and think the world revolves around him either way, well due to the student for handling it well.
I suspect he thought the cammer car was going to turn right, as they're in lane 2 and slowing, probably surprised him when they continued on. Poor lane discipline caused the issue I think.
@@shm5547you really do have the worst takes in the comments 😂😂😂
6:47: you have a viewer in your previous awkward driving video who swears that just because jumping red lights is illegal it doesn't make them liable for harm. if somebody doesn't see them.
I know its nothing to do with the video, in 1976 we went on a holiday to Great Yarmouth myself my wife and 2 kids, my wife's sister and husband my brother in law and his girlfriend and three kids, from Dewsbury, it took 5 hours, i was driving a ford escort mk1, no seat belts no child restraints no problems, i know the roads are a lot busier and i would not do it now but it was normal then.
Interesting on that M57 M57 A59 scenario. I use the A59 lane if it’s busy as it does allow you to avoid tailbacks and take the M57. But you can get caught out by queuing vehicles stopped at the next lights on the roundabout tailing back into that lane, but usually only for a few seconds.
What’s you opinion on culpability if you’re involved in a collision while exiting into the M57 from that lane. The only scenario I can think of is that a driver in lane two (middle) suddenly decides to take the A59. I’m guessing it might be 50/50. I drive staggered to avoid but you never really know.!
Why isn't car history free for the public? Why is such crucial information hidden behind a paywall?
You see some really stupid things these days. Walking down the road the other day I saw a cyclist in the cycle lane. The stupid part was they had one hand holding their phone, the other holding some food and they were eating. Neither hand were toughing the handlebars. What could have happened if they hit a bump while a car was passing them?
They would get a nomination for a Darwin Award.
Ah but remember the new highway code guidelines for cyclists your supposed to be telepathic, psyic, xray vision, night vision, clairvoyant, hyper reactions, 360° eyesight, thermal imaging, because your responsible for their stupidly🧐🤔 I meant safety
With the night time clip, I wish it was more strict like in some countries Europe where people are required by law to wear some reflective bands or something reflective to let them be seen better.

5:00 - It's likely been taken off the road, stored in somebodies garage, not forgotten about, but possible the owner got banned from driving, but didnt want to lose the vehicle, couldn't get it moted cause he's legally not allowed to drive it, theres no real way of telling unless you were to check if the vehicle is still taxed, and insured, which is unlikely, being the last details of an mot were from 4 years ago. And you need an MOT to get insurance. With that said, if its not insured, it's likely not taxed either, therefore SORNED or not SORNED somewhere, in somebodies garage, while like i said the owner is unable to drive the vehicle, and like you said, they have a reputation for being driven poorly, so its fairly possible the owner was caught speeding/drug or drink driving.
Or the car could still be being used, with no regard to the legal obligations...
@ unlikely, with ANPR being how it is these days, police would have pulled it and crushed it! Fairly possible this happened. Not sure if car vertical checks say if a car has been impounded by police, much less being destroyed by police due t.o no insurance, MOT, or tax. More likely that irs been sorned.
8:50 just as well the Range Rover slowed down to rubberneck too 🙄
Deary me, that near side turn!
At around 15:20, interesting re the mass parking on the asphalted central reservation. I guess in the absence of signs or road markings, it's perfectly legal. Just rather unusual to see.
9:10 speed and inexperience in my opinion was the cause of the crash in the slush at Walton Vale, summer tyres wouldn’t have helped
8:07 this is why it's awkward to drive a car that blends in with the shrubbery.
Top man - we can all learn. @ashley did you get any feedback about that awful instructor Leeds way?
I think it has been mentioned before that the DVSA have received the complaint and will act upon it but no feedback will be given on action taken
@@smilerbobah ok thanks - was quite an attitude she had. She obviously meant well but not cut out for that job
@@mrbigvanlife7130 No worries and I think the best outcome for all would be if she has taken on board the criticism, changed the attitude and is a better driver herself while passing on that better knowledge for her pupils 👍
One reason cars can disappear off MOT tracking is going to the Isle of Man- which does happen but not that many per year
i passed my test 43 years ago. I also watch this Channel to improve my awareness and driving skills.
If you're still improving at your age then something is wrong. It should be only about tweaking things or keeping up-to-date with stuff for you.
@@goodyeoman4534everyday is a school day!
UK has a lack of skill for driving in the snow/ice. most people dont use snow tyres let alone climate specialist tyres - most ask for the cheapest tyres and they only start upgrading once they slide off and it costs them more not to have them
Women tend to text when driving (head and eyes looking down, men tend to make phone calls from my experience
What? 😂 what’s your experience?
Millenial/Gen-x women are the worst behind the wheel. Every time someone is tailgating me, even when doing 5-10 over the limit, its some sunglass wearing soccer mom in her mini or suv. At least here in the Netherlands anyway. Had one the other day sitting a mere meter away from my car, and I saw her constantly look down at her phone. And the section we were driving was really crowded with peds. Its that I dont like road-rage but that one nearly made my get out of my car...
@@The_Noticer. Why are you going 5-10 over the limit?
@JackoWacko. Why didnt your dad wear a rubber like he shouldve.
Not excusing the drivers turning right at the lights (5:35).. isn't it possible that they thought they could turn right sooner if they did what they did?
8:00, This may star a debate, is that very quiet right indicator? 8:52, is that what's called rubber necking?
Haha. You and your signals again! Putting a right signal on at that moment would make any vehicles coming out of that crossroads think you are turning right where you are not. Just because you are moving the wheel doesn't mean you have to signal. Stop trying to fish for other imaginary mistakes. Didn't you like my previous response to your other question?
@@ashley_neal Ok fair point, was it quiet at 7:51? By not indicating right the car behind has to guess what you are doing and I thought the indicator was to pass information to other people. As for anyone in the road "opposite" thinking you were turning right, well to a point you are, you cannot go straight across. As I said, start a debate. Some may indicate right, others may not. So your reason for not advising the person behind which direction you are going, is so as to not to confuse the non existent car across the road, is that correct? If you want to teach people and have the learn, explain things. We can all pick fault with someone jumping a red light but when things get more gray, it becomes more difficult.
People who would signal right in that situation would fail the driving test. If a signal could mean two things, it shouldn't be on. Basic
@@ashley_neal What are the two things it could mean? Why would one fail a driving test for indicating right? Why would you/should you, not inform the car behind which direction you are going or not going?
I've already told you. It misinforms the vehicles ahead you are turning right when you're not.
i did see someone uber eats'ing using a 135i... he wasnt about for long, think i only seen him twice in about twice a week then he dropped it, terrible idea pay twice the courier insurence rate and just seem to end up clearing the roads of punchering objects doing this work so much so i bought things so i can sort out my own punchers
Ashely I sometimes wonder what if they were'nt part of the 2 feet in front of me brigade wether their forward planning would improve anyway.
The minibus, looks to be a school's bus. To think, they'll probably be carrying children. If they're that blatant about disregarding one way systems, they're likely breaking other laws, such as the driver not having the right licence for that size of bus, and probably no section 19 permit.
8:27 wow you got it quite bad down the road, didn't you? I think we got about 1 inch here in the other 'pool.
09:26 - I think Audi need to recall all their vehicles as they obviously have a serious brake problem.
new cars have the problem that they turn the lights on automatically.
And they give enough light infront to think that you do have your lights on.
Meanwhile the rear lights do not get turned on.
The worst invention on cars ever.
VW undertaking, your face Ash is class!
I must say that these series of clips show what I perceive to be the common standard of driving in NW. Its a sad indictment but what is being done about improving standards here and indeed the rest of the country?
You notice now even decent cameras are being affected by the instense glare of today's headlights. They aren't even of great use on well lit roads. Appartenly shops now sell superbright bulbs for 'off roading' that people buy, fit and don't even realize they are not road legal and Amazon, highstreets shops and chains just happily supply them. Night driving is just glare after glare now.
I liked the intro 🙂
It's a bit difficult to see where you are pointing at within the videos. Is there a chance to get some arrows or highlights of sorts so that it's a bit easier to follow along within the conversation? :P stay safe!
I have noticed a great number of cyclists believe that traffics laws do not apply to them, and hope they never get behind the wheel of a motor.
Don't think I didn't see that snazzy effect to kick us off
Sorry about the football today Ash.
Can't win everything! Win graciously and lose graciously.
5:50 hahhahahahah that made me laugh so hard
Ashley, can an American tourist book a two hour lesson with a UK driving instructor please? It's something I recommend but when asked if it could actually be done I realised I wasn't sure. I had just assumed it would be OK.
10:32 Please tell us you reported this to the police
I'm sure the police have better things to do than field calls from motorists about all the transgressions on the road all the time!
@ You’d rather allow drivers to injure people because they were distracted using their phone instead of preventing them from doing so via a fine and points? Are you stupid?
@ I guess I must be, because I haven't heard of anyone killing anyone while stationary at a junction on the phone.
@@paulsengupta971 You definitely take phone calls to your ear while driving don’t you
@Kieran.Robertson Nope.
6:32 Are you learning Korean whilst driving? Perhaps you’re planning on a visit here to see the madness that is Seoul’s busy roads? You’re more than welcome to pay a visit :)
Pretty sure that's squid game no?
Hate to say it, but the student in that first clip has been featured several times now and he seems easily overwhelmed.
I do wonder if even with your good coaching, some are just never meant to drive a motorvehicle.
Don’t get why people still use there phone whilst driving vast majority of cars have BT or it’s easy and cheap enough to get it fitted, but surely most calls can wait 10 mins until you park up
6:59 if they die, they die. sad isn't it?
👍
I passed my driving test this week with 1 minor fault… thank you so much for your videos Ashley they helped a lot. I will keep watching as I always learn so much. 😊
