It's nice to see someone like Kevin enthusiastically describing his bike. The best part of cycling culture are riders who customize their bike to meet the needs of their particular routes and don't accept some bike that that is built around specs that others have dictated. Change your handlebars, change your gearing, change your pedals, etc, or build up from the frame to get the bike that gives you the best riding experience.
@@EverythingsBeenDone A lovely Cannondale Scalpel HT! It's my first proper mountain bike, my first carbon frame. I'm now on my way home across the Alps, 40 miles in, I'm in love! I'm on a trail called "Alta via del sale" right now, you would love it!
Dude I appreciate the Komoot endorsement! Been using it for years to build routes and the new update makes it soooo much easier! Also 100% down for Garmin vs Wahoo comparison video!
The tips on Komoot are the most useful feature by far. My local area has loads of local legends and almost all of the road climbs and offroad byway segments are described down to the detail by someone with too much time on their hands, so I became someone with too much time on my hands and got involved. Now 13x expert in several popular areas. A combination of useful photos and good tips gets you that virtual reward. Worth it when you get those notifications through saying X and Y were inspired by your photo to go adventuring. Trail view is great too, shows the exact point a photo was taken.
There's a small village I've ridden past in Scotland called Dull. On the sign it is written - Dull twinned with Boring, Oregon. That was more 6 years ago - the things we remember!!
Just plain beautiful! I'm downloading the Kamoot app even as I write this. You're such a show-off with your #22 Drifter (like God in the form of a bicycle)!
Clicking on the video I was going to say Kamoot and here we are. Low cost focused more on adventures than sweaty leaderboards. Also Cyclestreets for the Brits good way of finding alt commute routes.
Komoot has on more than one occasion led me down roads that didn't exist, on one occasion down a literal cliff (i stopped) , and has suggested difficult left turns across 4+ lanes of traffic on roads that are simply not safe to ride. Maybe its better now, but in Los Angeles, I have not had great luck. If Komoot works in your area, great. LA is much more of a strava town.
Yeah I don't just go out on any ride from any platform without streetviewing some of it first. Komoot at least has that built in, so you can select any point on the map and figure out if it's a bit gnarly and you wanna reroute. In general I'm hyperspecific about every detail on my route, cause I know one shit road or overpopulated MUP is gonna ruin my day.
Love Kamoot for bike commuting. The navigation gets you where you need to go using dedicated bike lanes and trails while avoiding dangerous intersections. I’m due for a new computer so a review and comparison on the Garmin would be ok with me. 9️⃣
Interesting stuff , I try to mix it up so I don’t get bored of my rides. By going one way to my destination and then opposite way home. Since there’s a few different routes I can always take to go in both directions. So whenever I remind myself I do it since it’s fun to go two different ways on the same ride makes it more fun , interesting and enjoyable.
Hey Dustin I liked the concept of the app so much i had to stop the video in the middle to go to the app store to download it! And its great! Just 5 routes in my region so far but I want to add a few more
Alright convinced, komoot looks worth a shot. Pretty sure I passed you filming this video around the bottom of Willamette and thought "Oooh sweet purple shades". Then got faceblasted by 3 or 4 leafblowers on my ride, got home and started looking at rokas with inserts.
Great video brother! Beautiful bikeX i love lilac, purple and those kind of colors… less than 10kg is amazing. Saturday im going to get my new to my bike, is an entry bike but got tired of my old MTB with an smaller frame than I actually need, is a road bike but can use bigger tyres to a “gravel” look, i think is going to be great to commute and ride more km’s that is just what I need right now.
Question: If you had to choose a full suspension mountain bike to convert to a locked-out, dropbar gravel bike, what bike would you choose and why? Think- locked out rear shock, 700c/50cish tires, locked out fork, and dropbar cockpit.
Great video DK!! I guessed 22-24lbs. I’d really love to see a comparison video between the top 3 bike computers everyone seems to be using (wahoo, Garmin, kamoot).
I was like, waiit what 1245 km in that time seems record worthy^^ Seems like a dot went missing 😂 Nevertheless I really appreciate you adding the metric numbers. I am also a fan of komoot! I can recommend it for hiking too. 9:33
I guessed 9,6 kg so with rounding up I got it, very nice bike. Glaring omission of the 1 in 10 occasions where komoot sends you through green/wet/steep hell, still love it though.
0:37 did you calculate the exact speed you needed to travel at for the dots on the ground to sync up with your shutter speed? my mind is blown if this wasnt a happy accident
Route pronounced like Rout or Root? I routed my competition on my last route, while listening to The Roots and avoiding many ruts, but this is all rooted in mystery.
Sorry, but Strava maps make better routes than Komoot. I only use Koomot when I want to go to a particular place. That's when Koomoot comes in handy. Now this feature is hidden in a corner and you have to click a few times to get to the planning.
It was working fine but humans changed the roads and some entrances to parks, when I found out I told them and they said they would update the situation.

Bro that green path is trippy, looked like you were being carried on the back of a truck or something, levitating carpet style!
US Adidas HQ threw the city some extra $$$ to make the path extra nice as it passes their buildings.
0:40 woah the frame rate sync is sick

That bike is something special!! Functional art.
Ron! Missed you.
I would love a review from you for the Garmin 1050. Your blunt honesty make me like your videos.
When I watch your videos, I sometimes think you're the best youtuber going
Komoot has been helpful with my bike training and finding routes that are cyclible in NYC. Pretty cool.
Do you find it better than Strava?

Love it! Part of the smaller route options for us is because in N america Komoot is new. As more folks use it the better it will get for us!
@@EverythingsBeenDoneare the ones you’re wearing photochromic?
This technique works very well. Thank you sir!

OMG that bike 🤌
and Ronnnnnn!
Mt Tabor fun fact: all of the gates are closed on Wednesdays, meaning no cars to smash into if you want to do some laps.
I had a Garmin and hated it. Switched to Hammerhead and find it works wonderfully.
I saw that food cart spot in Oregon City from the train when I came up to Made! Guess I need to take my bike on the train and check out this route.

Edit skills! Great video!
Love the videos
You had me at 'minimal effort'
Great video
As for a Garmin 1050. Do not just a comparison vid but during a ride.
That bike is the most rad thing ever
On the fly route changes that auto update has peaked my interest 🤔
My work here is done 🫳
Must be a new feature? Mid-ride route changes sure as hell didn't work as of April this year.
I’m now komoot curious. Also glad you got one of those seat bags… they’re gone now.
Hey - I actually learned something here. Despite the best efforts of my ravaged attention span.
Im suddenly inspired to plan a new route…
😂🤣 exactly how I felt.
Scandinavian trip???? Välkommen till Stockholm 🤗
-and bike weighs in at 8,9kg.
That's ideal!
I’m just north of Portland and would love to make a guest appearance on the cha. Do and tell you about my new bike Steel Bilenky custom club racer.
Great tips and nice route. 23.75 lbs
I love Komoot for route creation. Ride with GPS is good for community routes but a pain to create and modify routes compared to komoot
Totally agree!
Garmin comparison video would be great! Is it worth upgrading from the 1040?
Great video, as always! Can I be materialistic and ask what your sunglasses and hip pack are?
Are these photohromatic perscrition lenses in your glasses? How can I get those?
Downloaded the app.. hopefully more do the same, as the greater Chicago suburb area isn’t well Kamoot’d yet. Seems promising tho.
I’ll guess around 20pds- Hey Ron!!! 🤘🏼
First video I see you riding in dry weather 😂
Review of 1050 please 👍
Review of your new bike pleeeease, how does it feel after riding it a few times?
Here is the break down video of the new rig: ua-cam.com/video/pG8hv3sIYWY/v-deo.html
its got some ride feed back as well
I’m down for any review or comparison, guy!
Coming to Reload for the final weekend?
Please can we have a review video that compares the 1050 to other devices, eg: Coros Dura?
And I’m guessing the purple bike weighs 20ibs?
Is komoot not that known in the states? In Europe is was my first pick?
Scandinavia trip! Oslo is the best city in europe for gravel riding. Where are you going?

Do SPD-SL road pedals flick the lights? New to the area, and honestly can’t find a good answer
What kind of glasses are you riding with? The look great
I got a link for you in the description 😉
Where are you going in Scandinavia?

20 LBS. LETS GO BABY
I WAS SO CLOSE!
Works great if you live somewhere with lots of other cyclist, there are exactly zero routes within 150 miles of my house on komoot
If you’re coming to Stockholm please give a shout!
Woooohoooo portland magic
Is that feature free?
Damn D, that bike bro, B-E-A-utiful!!!!!
Thanks Boss!
What's the song at 4:59? Real groovy need it for my bike ride too!

Hmmm I live at the tip of an island and I know all the routes... Love Komoot though for other places!
Route pronounced like Rout or Root? I routed my competition on my last route, while listening to The Roots and avoiding many ruts, but this is all rooted in mystery.
I found Komoot to have higher adoption in Europe. Not sure why not in the US, maybe needs more marketing like this?
Garmin 1050, review and comparison.
I live in boring. Hope to see you on the road. Or stop by my food truck, Moore food & co.
