You can just almost feel his pain swelling up as he looks at the cigarette in his hand, probably looking back at all that happened to him that led him to hate himself today.
Trivia: Margo Martindale actually had a role in the actual Secretariat movie that came out in 2010. I discovered this when I googled her to find out if she was a real person. 😅
I love how the phrase Bojack had difficulty saying in episode 1 of this season… “What are you doing here?” Has become a theme for the whole of season 2 It’s the same sentiment as in the Talking Heads song “Once in a Lifetime “
It's all over this season, more than I even remembered. I love the writing in this show. They don't beat you over the head with things like that, just leave them there for viewers to find and appreciate.
Love your discussion of Sebastian St. Claire-his character really shows the fundamental flaw with Diane's personal moral philosophy she shared at the end of last season (there is no "deep down," all you are is the things that you do-basically utilitarianism). Because she *knows* Sebastian is not a good person and only cares about himself. But when she confronts him about it, his response boils down to "Well, the things I am doing are helping people (which is true in regards to stuff like the hospital and library). I am going to keep doing these things. Can you help me or not?" And at the end of the day, she just couldn't hack it in that environment. So, if we're going by Diane's logic, where you're only the things you do, and she wasn't cut out for *doing good* (as she sees it), that leaves her in a really weird place. Which I think also plays in to why she couldn't tell Mr. Peanutbutter what happened.
Yeah she reached the same place Bojack reached in S2 Ep 1 with his "Holy shit, I am not an actor. For all this time I thought there was more to me than everybody thought.". She realized she's not the person she thought she was.
Honestly, these are the times I feel the most bad for Bojack. When he's doijg something that's misguided, but still well meaning, only to see that those have consequences too.
Part of what I didn't hear y'all touch on was that Diane also learned something new about herself and its something she is disappointed in. If anything it is more important to her and the story that she cannot deal with the hellscape that was Cordovia
"Now, obviously, Mister Peanutbutter doesn't have a lot of leverage because it's J.D. Salinger's show..." Sometimes this show leads to the most wonderful sentences to imagine trying to interpret out of context!
The detail throughout the season with Bojack saying the line "What are you doing here" Nailing it perfectly every time like in that scene he had to make due to his mental state at the moment.
Just in case anyone missed it , there is a version of the famous "dogs playing poker" art in this episode. In true Bojack Horseman fashion, its "dogs playing connect 4" 😂😂
While your take on why Diane didn't write the book makes sense, I think you might be misinterpreting it a little, what I got here is that she just wasn't able to handle all the nonstop terrible shlt going on there which makes her feel like a useless hypocritic. Not in a mean way, but I think you were too invested in St. Claire being a bad guy. Although, I guess you're right in that him being uncomforting didn't help, but I don't think that's the main reason. But hey, I guess there's no exactly right interpretation when both work, that's just what I thought they were setting up - I just think Diane would have no problem writing the book so long as these issues can get more attention. Speaking of which, him yelling for the voices of orphans to stop genuinely made it hard for me to breathe.
Love the joke about Wandas notes being all vague because she couldnt focus due to Bojacks shenanigans. Feel like that got put in because a writer was sick of getting vague notes by executives :D

That transition from bojack smoking to crying has got to be one of the most heartbreaking and realistic outbursts of crying I've ever seen in media
reminds me of Anne from Amphibia in 'Reunion'
You can just almost feel his pain swelling up as he looks at the cigarette in his hand, probably looking back at all that happened to him that led him to hate himself today.
Reminds me a scene from "Children of men"

Yeah they were so well done I completely missed them my first watch! Can’t wait for all the “Hey.” “Hey.”s we have coming up…

The shut up children always kills me

Yeah lots of people kind of side line her trauma with Cordovia
ooo good point
Funny how many times (and ways) that BoJack says, "What are you doing here?"
Diane knew Bojack wouldn't say no.
"Now, obviously, Mister Peanutbutter doesn't have a lot of leverage because it's J.D. Salinger's show..."

"Breaking and entering! That goes against everything Nixon stood for!" ☠
Fun fact when princess carolyn was in the painting the name of the song playing is called pictures at an exhibition. Aka literally where they are at
I was going insane waiting for this to drop. 😅
Next episode has one of my favorite lines.
I think I know the one you're talking about
👓 🌹
Oh yeah… that’s a great line.
Only a couple episodes until we get one of the biggest trainwrecks of the early half of this show. If ya know, ya know.
Alan , the endangered species 😂😂
Shut up! Shut up children! 😅
SSC is an underappreciated character. Keegan-Michael Key nailed it!
@@SteelburghIt's my favorite minor character on the show. His delivery is perfect
I've been refreshing for the last 5 hours, I love your Bojack reactions!
