I read the Hoyt/Dewell series, and am now on the Joe Pickett series. I like Joe Pickett more. This series gets really good though as you said The Highway is much better, you have to read it. Glad to see you reviewed this.
Solid review! Wanted to start reading Box more but never get around to it. It’s beyond time to start again. Also, what do you think of Matt Helm series by Donald Hamilton?
Time to add yet another author to the list of future purchases. I am assuming this will be a great way to get into mysteries! Joe Pickett novels that is. Thanks Durfee.
Good review, I thought the book was pretty good in that series, good plot with converging story lines which seems to be CJB's formula, as with many authors, I would rate this book at about number three in the non- Joe Pickett books that I've read, Badlands was by far the best then The Bitterroots, Back of Beyond, Paradise Valley and Three weeks to say goodbye....haven't read The highway yet but looking forward to it this winter, in general, Cj is a good author, however, you do need to read his books in order, which makes me not a big fan of books in a series...thanks for the review...btw, I'm going to give The blackened heart a shot even though that's not really my genre....BTW, your reference to Steven King is interesting because that's an example of series and genre...I couldn't put down books like Needful things and four past midnight but the Dark Tower series was tiring.
This has been on my TBR forever. Box has a great, crisp writing style.

Also “Big Sky” was horrible, I tried to watch it, but had to quit.

I haven't had a chance to start the Pickett series, but The Highway book was awesome, and the 6th book comes out in Sept if I remember correctly.

Never read these but the show is amazing

I tried. Not sure going to finish. We'll see.
Thanks Brian but I'll pass on this one. Burned bodies is the one thing I can't do.
