I still think that for that price of 2750 euros, the sliding, delay and overall tracking is not good(not to mention gloves are sold separately). For 2200 euros you can buy 13 vive trackers 3.0, 4 base stations and the index knuckles for finger tracking and do superior mocap sessions in something like Brekel open vr in my opinion.
Ironic, but I actually sold my vive trackers in order to buy Rokoko suit. It is still annoying that such suit has these problems, but to say that VR tracking is better... you obviously haven't seen it in action. VR tracking requires much MORE cleanup. Also index finger tracking is not good at all for mocap, I found myself often scraping it and doing from scratch.
Yeah, I'm not particularly impressed. It seems to really lag behind even slow motions, which leads me to believe if you go to fast it will lose tracking very quickly. The Ad shows the tracking to be basically 1:1 but in this video it's not like that at all...the tracking was lagging behind quite noticeably. It does appear that it has improved quite a bit from what I have seen in the past though....but I'm really up in the air as to whether any of these inertial suits are even really worth investing in. I have experience modifying animations so I assume I could get by with something like this....but it's a big investment for me.
It's definitely a big investment, and you'll 100% have to do clean up afterwards. But.. you'd have to do the same with 100k setups as well. My fiancée was working at ILM on the new Ant Man movie, and even her mocap data needed tons of work. I should also mention that the lag may be due to me recording. Once I stopped recording, it turned pretty close to 1:1, which was weird. Outside of cleaning up, it gives you a pretty good head start so that you're cleaning animation and not doing it from scratch. You just have to weigh how badly you need it for your project and if it's worth the time you'll save or not. Hope this helps!
@@BrianKouhi Thanks, so yeah I have been getting a lot of jobs that require setting up animation systems but the people either don't have animations or they have an animator without a suit and he doesn't do a real good job. The people I am working for right now hired a Mocap studio and they just don't understand how the animations need to be done...it's been a real struggle with them and a lot of going back and forth. At the same time these jobs I recently landed seem like flukes and I would like to experiment with Motion Matching which requires animations to be made in a very specific way. So, I'm thinking a Mocap suit would be a very good investment, but I would have to dump about half of what I have made with these guys over the past 3 months into the suit. Honestly this job was only supposed to be 1.5 weeks long so I'm surprised I'm still here with them. Anyway, thanks for the response, man. If you ever have questions about Unreal you can check out my channel or hit me up on Discord.
@@daniellawton4336 Yeah I've tried it before too and it's pretty janky. I talked to a guy I work with, and he decided to buy one for me. I watched some videos and the Rokoko isn't as bad as some people make it seem. The thing is, most of the people saying it's worthless were only trying to use it for LiveStreaming purposes....the motions do need cleanup because hands won't touch or will pass through each other, and it doesn't track you in the air either which I imagine would make some stuff difficult. but other then that it's still worth having if your really picky about getting movements to look a very specific way....if that's the case then good luck finding animations for sale that you like or need. Most of the stuff I've seen that Rokoko is bad at can be easily fixed during the clean up stage.
@@unrealdevop The new version supposedly tracks your altitude. I just bought one. I have 200 martial arts forms I need animated. I'm sure as hell not going to achieve that with video capture. Maybe later, when AI gets even better. If the AIs don't decide to go terminator before then. If they do, I'll be standing in their path welcoming them. I'd just like to be there to see it myself!
Can you do a legit straight arm TPose with the V2? I have the v1 and the arms are always bent and sag lower than the shoulders. I can't do proper archery mocap for example.
You'll always have to do touchups a 3D software afterwards, even with 5 to 6 figure mocaps. Something like Animaide or the animation layers addon are very helpful in Blender.
They cost nearly 5 grand, we can monthly borrow you them for 1.5 g. after 2 months of creating, I just wanted to share with you my growing business cuz their actually good, come hit me up and that's for Brian too!
Thank you so much for the video. I am wondering if this suit & software is good (or even great) for sudden & fast movements like running, turning, rolling? Or is it not that good at all?
I haven't personally tested the suit for rolling, but it is made to be capable of taking hits. In most of Rokoko's videos, they hire dancers and showcase the capabilities with dancers. It's definitely not 100% accurate all the time, but that kind of accuracy would require a $20,000+ setup. For its price point, it's pretty worth it, you'll just have to do a bit of clean up before exporting the data.
@@BrianKouhi Xsens is far more accurate and it doesn't cost $20,000. Surely, their pricing are horrible and anti consumer, but data quality is way better than rokoko.

I'll be uploading a new video on a free way to record mocap in a few days!
ALSO be prepared to pay a minimum of $20/ month to be able to set FBX export options. What a joke.

The legs at the knees still pop like crazy.
hows the shoulder movement. i dont see any shoulder movement in any of the rokoko video they put. it looks stiff
We got extra cables like pins on cloth cover what is the use of them

It's got to beat DeepMotion. That video based capture is worthless. I couldn't get it to work well enough to be faster than just animating by hand.

Great video thank you. Could I please ask what video is at 13:41 (The UE5 Forest and train) I'd love to watch those. Many thanks!

Hey! I'm trying to find a SmartSuit Pro II for rental in NY! Any leads? Thanks! :)
Nice and informative video. Did you experience magnetic interference issues? Many users of the previous version noted that.
I did a little bit, but nothing too crazy. Usually recalibrating after each recording solved my issues.

Yeah!
Only good thing about Rokoko is the gloves. Xsen is the recommended. Pricey but worth the value
Black on dark unboxing is not so much of a great idea, can't see anything lol
Haha yeah I noticed during editing. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time 😜

wow, it really doesn't seem that much better than some of these free AI video to mocap systems...
I think u leaked ur ip address at 4 minute something
Oop, thanks for the heads-up!
I just fixed it.
