- German Countertenor Andreas Scholl sings Bertarido's aria "Se Fiera Belva Ha Cinto" from Handel's Rodelinda. This clip was taken from the 1998 Glyndebourne production. I have always enjoyed this aria and never understood why it wasnt more popular. Oh well. Hope you like!!!
Sparkling! Wonderful! What else can I say!

Now with the renewal of interest in having countertenors in opera, Andreas Scholl is outstanding among many. I always am astonished how natural his voice sounds in addition to his technical precision, focus, and agility. For example, listen carefully to his performance in Mozart's early opera Mitridate.
just great
Quel bel air et quelle voix merveilleuse! J’adore Andreas! ❤️❤️❤️
Best intro in the world -- hookiest, catchiest thing ever. Haendel the pop song tunemaker. :-) And they all do a wonderful job!
I totally agree. I just cannot stop listening to this tune, performed by multiple different artists.
No one does the accompaniment like William Christie who galvanises this music. I saw this production three times with him at the helm.
The sheer “life” that William Christie brings to the string accompaniment!
fantastico, semplicemente perfetto!!! grande Andreas!!
Supurb, as usual....ich genieße alles, vielen dank!
Merci de cette nouvelle video : quel plaisir de découvrir de nouveles versions des airs que l'on aime !
Have you got Scholl's Dove Sei from this performance? It disappeared from UA-cam recently and I miss it so much!!!
I LOVE THE HUMOR MR. SCHOLL IS A GOD
que bueno!!
As long as it is by Handel, I like! ;)
What unusual ornaments at 3.22, 3.30 & from 3.59 to 4.05! Although it took a bit of adjustment, I've really grown fond of them.
That Rodelinda was one of the most outstanding performances by a countertenor ever seen and heard. It’s a shame opera never became Scholl’s thing but we have to respect that. The newer crop of countertenors are interesting; there are some excellent ones among them but also quite a bit of empty and unmusical showmanship.
De l'amour !!! Que puis-je envoyer d’autre ?
Very original ornamentations. In very good taste. Andra Scholl is a terrific singer. The only down side of the interpretation is that it's not very terrifying... "When a wild best is set free after being imprisonned and wounded, he shall show merciless rage"... I'm not under the impression that Andrea's singing those menacing lyrics.
This aria is popular! But only to those who are true conossieurs of Baroque music XD
Handel and Zorro...
