Nice techniques and Clean execution by the Sensei. However, I wonder if these applications are viable against a real attack: the sparring partners do not react to any of the actions of the Defenders, so it is a bit unrealistic. Opponents do not stand still.
@@carlpostuma1469 my first concern is the lack of reaction by the opponent. They examine at least 3 different kinds of knife basic attacks and the opponent stands always still. Even in kata bunkai techniques are devised in order to deal with an opponent actively defending himself. This seems to be very basic training, I hope it is.
Learn first the basic of the technique then after learning how it is done technically correct then apply it realistically in a conrontational way where the other will attack in the given knife attacking manner and the other will defend applying technique. However, the defender, this time will do any counter move against the technique. This is how we did when i have my knife defense training. The way we do it is like boxing or sparring- both opponents were moving around as the attacker took his time and chance looking for his opening, while the defender kept his defensive distance-retreating one step or advancing one step or took lateral evasive moves .
Good bunkai, however should be practiced at fast pace and also, when defender isn’t ready at attackers own time. I hope you guys are practicing this way too. Love from Perth Australia
I want to see someone like the guy that's teaching it actually use it I feel like some of this works but on the other hand, I feel like it doesn't work I want to try and keep an open mind about some of this stuff but I just don't really see it working like I know Muay Thai works I know judo throws work and I know Jujitsu works I want to see this work
porque não manda fazer um ataque real para os alunos verem a defesa funcionar, e depois ensina passo a passo assim fica muito mecânico na rua é bem diferente.
Most teachers, even Eskrima teacher will probably tell you that learning to knife fight will only increase your chances of survival and limit damage. It's not impossible, but you have to be very good. There's very little room for error.
You all that say that this moves don’t work in real situations, play in slow motion the moves that you say that work and compare to the ones that you see in this video. Think and watch before you comment. be humble and respectful, basic characteristics of a karateka. Ossu!
These techniques don't work. Their unrealsitc. No attacker will move that wide or stop after one strike. Knife attacks are random, fast, and too complex to use any form of defense without getting cut, especially this one. This technique will do more than get you cut, it will get you killed and a slashed trapezius, neck, or torso.
I'm sorry to say this, but the first and the last seem effective but I doubt there is time to do the following, as the others I saw unstable, the attacker will resist and take his damn hand abruptly, even use your another naked hand to hit him, as it was only the truth of the streets, although I love the KARATE there are unstable techniques, what do I mean? that do not work, only the stable ones depend on the angle of the attacker ..............
More likely grab stab stab stab x50...slicing is not very realistic too...we need to stop teaching things that dont ever happen...slicing is for kali people....regular attacker will stab repeatedly...
Usually most attacks occur with a hidden blade, in the rear hand, front hand is used to grab, and then stab party...this is the most typical attack, also slicing is less prone to cut thick clothes etc... this is what you will see in most videos of knife attacks, robberies etc...this is what people should train for I beleive, not a fair knife fight with both parties armed and slicing etc...I dont think that is realistic training either, specially based on tons of videos that anyone can watch. This is my opinion though, I think the stabbing is more effective with any grip than the slicing. @@doradoluckydragon9029
Having able to dodge or catch a knife attack is not a solution. You need to learn how to disarm like real quick. I dare to say that all of the techniques displayed here is not effective. You cant just armlocking them while they still have a knive in their hand.
I love Karare but Karateka should focus on empty hands. It's there greatest asset, turning their hands and feet into weapons. These knife defence techniques would definitely not work in the real world. Nobody attacks you with a knife like that and if they do you might aswell strike them directly.
Thats stupide This is not a realistic knife attack. In reality it s near impossible to catch the knife's hand with your hand and the attacker is not static
muy fantasioso

I tried this in real life.
Also heaven has such great WiFi
I recommend checking these techniques in Brazil. Good luck
In Mexico too.

If you want to complete your Karate skills it might bei ok. But if you believe you can defend a real knife attack - good luck!! You will need it.

Ossu! Respectful bow
First comment ,😎They are black belts in theirown style not this why are they allowed to wear black belt in that dojo ?
I guess that depended on the sensei
If you have a nunchaku its better hit with theme the hand of the enemy
Very god exelet techniques from de knife nice execution. from grandmaster nakamoto like

sorry. doesn't work!!!!
No,you are just too poor to use, kid.

This is supposed to be a joke, right?
The only way defending a knife is to prepare a gun . forget others
I don't think so. Policemen died with smoking gun in their hands because the attacker wasn't stopped by the bullits.
MFS65 Either way, guns do better than this technique
A good blow with a baseball bat on the head works too.
In the streets: slice, slice, slice and cut from belly to up. Thumbnail movies or from a person that doesn't how to stab / anatomy
More likely grab stab stab stab x50...slicing is not very realistic too...we need to stop teaching things that dont ever happen...slicing is for kali people....regular attacker will stab repeatedly...
Cesar Camara slice like a crazy and stab, that's how it's a fight in the streets. Obviously if he can grab you he only will stab u

На мой взгляд (основанный на службе в полиции и занятиями рукопашным боем в том числе с ножом) каратисты в ролике занимаются ерундой.
My defense against a knife is two to the chest and one to the head from the triple-tap of my Glock 30s.
Why do people involve in these shitty things ?
Dilshan Madhushanka some to find their "way" of karate, some are to find "meaning" of their karate.
Osu
Hand holding weapon, no empty, no empty had, not karate :-)
Sorry had to write that with an accent. Weapon vs weapon isn't Karate.
