  • I wanted to love New World when it launched! It has amazing world design, beautiful environmental effects, amazing gathering, fishing, a music system, a reasonably good housing system, and combat which I really enjoy. But in the end, I couldn't find a good reason to stay.
    My reasons for leaving have nothing to do with balance or bugs, server merges, player population, or any of the other major things we've all heard thrown around as the major gripes many have had about New World.
    Ultimately, for me it is the absence of diversity in character customization, the absence of lore, the sense that that everything is deliberately generic - ranging from the seemingly gender-neutral characters (every character looks and runs like a generic guy) to the fact that despite effort to depict real world cultures such as Asian influence in Ebonscale Reach and Roman culture in Brimstone Sands, there is no meaningful homage to the actual spirit or culture of them - beyond the architectural elements.
    Adding to that, New World never could quite figure out if it was a PVP game or a Theme Park - and wound up being something in between that fell short of both. When I compare these things with an established and beloved franchise such as Elder Scrolls, which has been lore-building for three decades of gaming history, there really is no contest.

    Of all the people who reviewed New World on UA-cam, you have the most relevant meaningful review IMO. I was on the fence as to whether I should try out New World for $16 Black Friday and I am not going to do it. I am pretty sure I would end up feeling the exact same as you, because everything you mentioned are my concerns as well.

      I did try the game and played about a week to find out I feel exactly the way it is expressed in this video. There is just something missing with the characters that I just can’t get into it. Love the scenery and gathering crafting is a bit odd and the classless system doesn’t do anything for me. The pronoun and the beards for female characters is what I thought wtf. lol.

      @@Mcappo I agree with you. I decided not to buy it and try it. I'm not a big fan of this pronoun woke stuff either. Thanks for your review.

    If anyone likes PvP, I’ll suggest you to play something other than ESO. There haven’t been any PvP DLCs for years. PvP server lag and crashes are horrible. Class balance doesn’t work well. There’re always 1or 2 classes dominating PvP, and 1 - 2 months later, the company nerfs out-performing class to the extent of nearly unplayable, and they buff 1 or 2 classes to be extremely overpowered, and the loop continues…

    I didn’t enjoy the NW game play, but the lack of character customisation bored me eventually. I lost interest. Back to ESO.

    Eso has been around for years but Eso's biggest problem is that it's too easy (many people say that). I have more than 1,500 hours of playing in Eso but the feeling of a theme park for me is more Eso than New World. The difficulty scales together with the level of the character and this doesn't make you feel the change between one area and another, you just go straight and play with one hand: the only region where you have fun is Craglorn (pve-questing speaking). And let's not talk about monetization which is too expensive. The combat system, the difficulty and the graphics mean that unfortunately at the moment New World is the better of the two. Obviously we always talk about tastes.

      scaling with your character is the best thing about ESO. all content is relevant forever.

    I agree New World has its deficiencies but man... out of the frying pan, into the fire. 😂 ESO not doing well at all, people leaving in droves, systems are tired, things change drastically every few months, combat is weird... not saying you should follow the crowd! Just thought it was strange you went to ESO. Thanks for the video.

      Truth is, I don't disagree with you! It's a hard call, because there's so much to love about the Elder Scrolls universe from a world building perspective, but not so much when it comes to core gameplay experience.
      Lately I've been feeling drawn to New World again, so giving another shot. There's no getting around the fact that New World is an amazing bargain compared to other MMO's monetization practices, too.

      @@RaccoonRepublic Yeah, it's certainly inexpensive. Tried Guild Wars 2?

    • @RaccoonRepublic
      @RaccoonRepublic  9 місяців тому +1

      @@mercster I have! Another amazing value for your dollars (Though I've got to say, GW2's cash shop is much more of a draw on the wallet than New World.)
      My biggest objection with GW2 is that it doesn't have housing, and Shop Skins so greatly outshine in game armor in terms of appearance and diversity, that crafting and gold making feels shallow. Cities also feel oddly under-detailed.
      In these respects, New World would win over GW2. But there's nothing like Guild Wars 2's living world, the way GW2 gets players working together, water mechanics, mounts, and voice acting. So much good to say about GW2!

    New World has problems, but ESO has a LOT more. Paid monthly sub, paid expansions, gamble boxes, in-game way over monetized store. Some houses are as much as 100$. The combat feels like you're floating in space. ESO has more problems, and is far more jank.

    • @invader.indigo8435

    • @MiamiMAJIN
      @MiamiMAJIN 7 місяців тому +2

      The monthly sub is full of value with plenty of DLC’s to pad your playthrough with content. The rest is shit I’ve literally avoided and I have 400+ hrs in the game.

    • @justabreeze1234
      @justabreeze1234 6 місяців тому +2

      Have you ever even played it? The subscription unlocks all the content (minus latest chapter) and you still get the more of in game currency that you would buying them straight up without the sub. The gamble boxes is the criticism but even with those they are implementing more ways to get those items.

      Well New World now has paid expansion so cross that off your list. How do you transmog in New World? Oh yea pay for it. You pay for your female character to look less like a dude. Cash shop the same in New World.
