    I love my SYOS Scott Paddock mouthpiece. It is easy blowing. Still working on finding the right reed for it.

    It is interesting that you use a very soft reed for alto (2.25) and a relatively hard reed on tenor (3.5). That seems backwards from what a lot of people do. (On alto I use the Barkley pop and the 2.25 like you have and I love it. I also started your sax school especially for the funk and I love it so far. Thanks!)

      I think it has a lot to do with the differences in the mouthpieces. The BB has a much higher baffle. Glad you are enjoying the Sax School! The Funk Course is a lot of fun!!

    Thanks for the info Scott. Been wondering about your crazy orange mouthpiece. Haha. Very cool. I need a wireless mic for my alto so I'll check out the shure. I like that you said it doesn't pick up background noise. It's just what I've been looking for. Your videos are all great. Thanks

      Thanks Barbara! Yeah, it makes it a lot easier when playing with a band when there are several other instruments bleeding into the mic or when recording at home on a noisy street.

    I found using Bari sax reeds with a very wide mouthpiece in 3 hardness with an optimum ligature just screams. The horn is irrelevant as long as it is professional although I prefer yani /selmer, cannonball is good too, never tried the P Mauriat. Honestly the ligature mouthpiece and reed are the most important thing to pay attention too and spend money on than a fancy horn in my opinion.

    Hey Scott I really like the harness you use for your tenor. I've been looking for the brand / model in this and in your pack for tour videos but you didn't mention. If you don't mind saying which model do you use?

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  Рік тому +2

      Hey! I made the harness myself out of a couple different straps. So, it's not something you can buy in a music store.

    Do you have issues with keeping the Mauriat in adjustment? Have you had to have any swedging done on it?
    I have a Mauriat and love the sound but had the pivot screws changed over to the Selmer and Yamaha type.

      Hey! Not really; my tenor goes in the shop about once every 1.5 years. I don't really have much trouble with it at all. My alto goes in once every 4-5 months because I play it A LOT and am pretty hard on it, but I don't think my repairman has done much of that type of adjustment.

    How are you feeling about the Roland AE-10G these days?

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  2 роки тому

      I like it, I just wished I practiced it more. I'll get it out every day for a week or two and then it will sit there feeling lonely for a month or longer. If I were to buy one today, I'd probably go for the upgraded one.
