So I have an older home and there were two things that I took away and will be able to use immediately in my house. The first one is I have been struggling with flooring so the tips that you gave helps me too lean more in the direction I was trying not to, but I do not want to changing my flooring once it’s down. Secondly, I have tried several of the lighting tricks that y’all have shown gonna have to try a couple of yours. Thanks Kristen can’t wait to see what you’re going to do next.❤

For a tiny touch of warmth in white (north facing room), Alabaster is perfection. A dark to go with that? Peppercorn.
*Excellent Advice* . In my 56 years, my style has morphed and evolved. I have large furniture pieces that have been with me for several decades, a worthwhile investment. I will NEVER again purchase an upholstered piece (sofa/chairs) in a patterned fabric, it's just too limiting long term. I can easily switch the mood of a neutral base via textiles and accessories. My floral patterned sofa and wing back chairs are now slip covered in a taupe micro-suede.

White Paint, Wall Sconces (disagree), Black Accents, Conservative Hardwood Floor Stain, Built-In cabinets, Subway Tiles, polished Nickel Hardware, White Marble, neutral furniture (boring), stripes.
I’m moving into an older home and the bathrooms have the small square tiles on the walls. I was going to paint them white with tile paint (one bathroom has blue tiles and the other has coral tile). But you mentioned marble contact paper for various design uses. Would marble contact paper work over these tiles?
Use marble contact paper if you REALLY want to instantly cheapen the look of your home. Otherwise steer clear of it. Far away from it !
I like these things, but it astounds me that you dont realize that every single thing on this list is trendy (except the hardwood).
I think its interesting how people choose to call things timeless simply because they like them. And they label the things they dont happen to like as trendy.
There is no such thing as timeless. Classic and timeless is a lie. I guarantee you can come back to this list in 10 years and while this stuff may not be obsolete, they will no longer be on the top of the timeless list.
On the positive side, your example pictures are beautiful
I like the fact that you included a few with color.
My dad is a retired house painter. The number of times I've heard "Swiss Coffee" ... It's been a classic forever
As a European, I find it bizarre that paint colours are branded and named like that. At least with pantone, you have a colour code you can recreate no matter the paint brand.
In US, the store puts a label on top of the paint can lid that shows the formula. So any paint store can recreate the color.
Marketing is everything ;)
I don't know where you are from, but we also have paint brands and their colors have names 😊

Good video discussion. With so many changing trends, I was starting to feel overwhelmed with designing my home. It was good to hear reinforcement of some of timeless choices!
Great video with lots of great ideas. My challenge is accessorizing to bring the look together. With cabinets being white, light grey for 2 couches and a dark chocolate wood floor, choosing metals, carpet color/design, side tables and pictures are overwhelming.

Sherwin Williams will match Benjamin Moore colours. We bought our paint at Colour Your World and they had codes to match all the Benjamin Moore whites

Good Video! I definitely will look for tiles like this for my bathroom makeover by time. Maybe a video about the most timeless kitchen designs/looks? I really wanna do my kitchen in a few years, but I cannot decide except for the black and white theme... but styles and shapes, I have no idea.
It seems UA-camrs giving decorating tips and suggested items for our homes,
must read the same magazines and shop at the same stores, yet you suggested some interesting ideas.

When we were first married, we moved every year or so, painting and decorating every time. Now I want to decorate and be done for as long as possible. So we chose white subway tiles for our backsplash, and Cloud White, a warm white for most of the house. And we chose wall sconces because we became more minimal and got rid of our end tables (less to dust, easier to vacuum!)
Great vlog Kristen. Agree that the marble look is classic and timeless. We went for porcelain tiles that mimic the marble look in our bathroom. We love it and they are maintenance free. Looking forward to seeing your next reveal ❤
Marble is classic unless it is faked on something that would never be made of stone - iPad or iPhone cover, lamp shade, bed and bath linens, rugs
Built-ins are classic but limit your re-arranging options offered by stand alone bookcases and chests.
Yeah I have them all apart from hard wood floors . My off white linen sofa ( washable slip covers) has done me with 2 kids and a busy life . Don’t be afraid of lighter colours and mix up the textures .. so restful and classic .

I like the sconces with the battery-operated light bulbs. I also like the color scheme for the rooms. We would love to incorporate these ideas into our apartment.
After much trial and error in a home remodel, Sherwin Williams Origami White was our classy winner. It's a neutral creamy white. Softer than a harsh white. Looks good under a variety of light color temperatures.
We chose Alabaster for our north facing room and loved it.
My home is over 200 years old and I have a collection of antiques and family heirlooms. This video is the most valuable one I have found to help me blend classic design with some carefully chosen updates! The only thing I wouldn't use in my historic home would be the subway tile, and thats just a personal preference.
Now that was very interesting 👍😎🐕🦺. Loved all the pictures, gave me some ideas. For my livingroom I will stick to whites and do the built-in library bold (green or blue). Thanks.
Great tips thank you! I just gutted the bathroom and went with black, white , and a nod to vintage...love it! Now selling the house and replicating the bathroom in the new house, which has a bigger bathroom so it's more fun to design. Can't wait to finish the project!

I really think you missed the mark with your couch opinion. There some classic couches that are not white, beige or grey that can transfer into different styles and trends.
This was a fantastic video! I am definitely moving towards classic timeless home styling. I have spent so much money with trends only to have to redo so many rooms in my home because the trends go out of style and I do not like a dated look to my home so thank you so much for this video
Love these ideas, because I’m an not one to follow trends since they go out of style so quickly! I try to install trends in inexpensive ways like throw pillow, trinkets, etc., that don’t cost an arm & a leg! 😂

We have a sectional sofa that I’d like to put a cover to change the color of it. Thinking on some of your color suggestions. Although, our sofa are the non-removable ones. There’s no zippers anywhere besides the throw pillows. Do you know if I can still purchase a cover for it? And where to get them at? Please help. Thanks so much!

I lean towards a black & white colour scheme. I have a black lounge suite which I can buy different coloured covers for to change up a look without the expense of a new lounge. I love this option as the covers fit perfectly & never look shabby.

I did my interior warm white by Dunn edwards. It’s and almost white and I love it. Black accents with wood floors and rattan.

We just put in new Quartz countertops. They are white, look like one of the pictures you put up. I also have the polished Crome handwear throughout our home. I recently added antique brass to go along side of it and it works! Our walls were painted Vintage white when we moved in. I think the undertone of yellow is a little much for me. Very useful advice. Ive dedicated my decorating to a timeless and classic feel.
I once had a kitchen with tumbled marble subway tile backsplash, honed black granite counters, and cream colored cabinets. I thought it was a beautiful combination, and timeless as well. Another kitchen I had featured marble countertops on neutral brown cabinets. It was a rental, so the marble counters were not perfect, but that actually contributed to their beauty.
