It depends on how the car is driven. 10k mile oil changes are conservative for most Toyotas subject to high highway miles. You need to monitor the condition and level of the oil though. If in doubt stay within the severe schedule of no more than 5k miles. Modern engines and oil are much better than even 10 years ago.
The aggregated wear numbers I've seen shows advantages to 3K/6-month changes. I also like using the dealer because it shows a nice maintenance trail on CarFax.
Lol, I change my oil first time at 1k, then every 5k after that. I only bring it to the dealer for things beyond my capability & things I don’t want to do.
Same here. Did it on my wife’s 2008 Lexus RX350, 2017 ES350 and my wife’s now new 24 NX350h. 1k miles oil change in all of them, then every 6 months after usually equates to 3-4K miles. Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 only, nothing else.
@@jml9550I think that is really smart. Engines today are getting stuck rings and burning oil like crazy. 3K/6-month oil changes can help keep those rings working freely and prevent oil from entering the combustion chambers.
I don't like how this guy talks about wasting time....Many many people have no clue about cars...they know how to put gas in it (or not)...and that's about it. When they buy a new car they expect it to run trouble free...but when they see a warning light they are very concerned...and will bring it in right away...as they should. Not everyone is an expert...be a bit more understanding.

80s cars maybe 10k be ok but now car has last tension pistons rings what that means more gas get mixed with the engine oil that is the reason oil needs to be replaced 5k or last the 6 months
Engine oil when is mixed with gas he looses his properties like lubricant and turns to sludge and sludge is not good for you engine valley en pistones rings cylinders go scratches and burn. If you engine is a one time cylinder block. $$$$$ this is the after new block or $$$$

@@jaylynbray7179 These should be in your owner's manual. Basically, it is half of what is recommended as "normal" service. For example, if the manufacturer recommends 10,000 mile oil changes, do it by 5000 miles
I think today's automobiles are less tolerant of neglect than they were 20 years ago. Modern motor oil can still only suspend a fixed amount of carbon before it precipitates out, forms sludge, and jams the rings solid.
@@mattdecker6791 I disagree. The problem is people have much less mechanical knowledge than they used to and never service their cars. The newer cars actually hold up better to abuse.

Never go 10K miles for a oil change unless you want your engine to burn oil or wear out fast 5K is better!🤓

First oil change at 500 miles. Every 5000 miles or 6 months, thereafter. Especially if the engine is turbocharged.

I sold my Toyota for a Tesla and haven’t seen the dealer for 3 years thanks.😂
What a nice car!
costco has free tire air inflator
mine tells me low air pressure and it usually always happens when summer changes to col fall temps so I always add like 10 PSI to the tires
I only use WAWA they have free air pumps not gonna waste 4 dollars putting air in my tires, I also have a small air pump at home
When is the time to have front and rear differential fluid exchange, i only have 44k miles on 2018 tundra and i never go offroading? Thanks
Your owners manual will tell you when to change fluids
I would have done it at 30k miles
