Old piano exercises don't help you as guitar players. As guitar players we have notes that can move in multiple ways unlike the piano and we need a way to practice those fingerings in real world combinations. The Exercise Shells help us as guitar players overcome this problem. The Exercise Shells help us play notes better on our instrument in a musical way. #leadguitar #learnleadguitar #leaguitarexercise

Yes! This is a very neglected part of guitar, that any player, who feels they are fumbling around to often, needs to tackle. These are the smallest musical actions you can do, which I like to call "micro movements." If you take your digit pairs 1-2,1-3,1-4, 1-stretch 4, 2-3, 2-4, 3-4, and work them isolated from each other, you teach yourself to be "automatic."
I like to also double the micro movements per string; first at the same tempo and time, then to change it to eighth notes and 16ths. Also, I will play in 1/4 notes on one string, then the next 8ths, then back to 1/4...ect. The variations are numerous.

I use to use this just for loosening up my fingers for warmups ( 1324,4132, etc) before playing whatever about a decade ago.
I’ll have to redo it again and your right it does help fingers 3/4 to catch-up with fingers 1/2.
Back to the drawing board ..

Thanks, Suke. After a period away from the guitar, it was the shells that got me back into the flow of practicing. And like magic I come across this helpful video. Thanks man. Kenneth Sullivan.
