I grew up poor too, not as poor as my grandmother (who actually has the exact same story of growing up as dolly, she was born in the depression era and is a little older than dolly and had 3 brothers and a sister, and her parents were dirt poor, and she lived in a shack too). And just like the guy who speaks in this video, I too always have tears come to my eyes when l hear coat of many colors. It really resonates with me. Now that I have heard him say that I am not ashamed to say this. Dolly is amazing, and she worked with what she had and became one of the most successful women in the world. Having a good relationship with your family is so important, if my grandma didn't have that growing up she probably wouldn't be the person she is now, same with Dolly. I wish l had the same closeness as they had, but I don't envy their poverty as I grew up poor but not nearly that poor and it was rough without it being as bad, but the amazing tight knit relationships they had back then as families is so amazing, and it's really sad how little people have that today...mostly because almost everyone and their dog is divorced nowadays, or like me with one parent dead from drugs and alcohol, and one parent a dead beat in recovery, or maybe they have an abusive parent. Whatever it may be, I feel like dollys message is something so inspiring it can help anyone have the hope and courage to keep fighting on to survive

Dolly also went out on her own from Porter Wagner with her hit song 'I will Always Love You,' released on the Album Jolene, and later to be recorded by Whitney Houston. She wrote the song to say goodbye to him because he wasn't going to let her break her contract with him. Such a beautiful person inside and out

Joshua was actually Dolly's first #1 hit in 1970.

"Jolene" was NOT he first #1; she first hit #1 in 1970-71 with "Joshua"

    By 1986 she'd already had 20 #1 singles - so I don't get where they get "..12 more songs hit #1...".

Same place they got "Jolene" being her first #1! Incorrect! "Joshua" was her first #1 in 1970. Her 12th #1 was in 1980, so, she has had 13 more up to this point. 2019.
