    Many thanks for the helpful information in your video!
    I realized i was dealing with this a few months back, and worst off is that im not able to recall anything that could have led to what im dealing with tonight, which the pain is increasing slightly more each day, tonight im beginning to feel like im going crazy like theres no way to escape these throbbing/stabbing/fire/pins & needles pain that is so unpredictable and can come at any time, riding in the car, sleeping, sitting in a relaxed posture, you name it, this is no joke and i can't begin to imagine this pain on a more intense & increased level.

      Symptoms don’t tend to get much worse than what you’re describing. It looks like you have a very irritable nerve. If the anti inflammatories don’t work then I would look for someone who can inject it for you.
      Best wishes. Stephen.

    Thank you. This has been happening for years and I have told quite a few doctors and specialists, had countless tests, and pt, but never specifically for this issue. No doctor has ever really bothered with it (despite my emphasis on the right thigh pain and numbness that follows). Fortunately for me it only strikes rarely and randomly while I sleep (or maybe unfortunately) and then fades once I manage to move out of a supine position. But once it strikes, I spend the next few weeks easily triggering it with tiny movements.
    It just struck tonight again, but when I looked up the description I finally found a name for it, which means perhaps I can finally address it. Since doctors have never helped I had given up on them and just prayed it wouldn't happen again. But of course it has. And I thank you for giving me some tools to address it.

      You’re very welcome. I’m glad it was helpful. If it doesn’t improve with the self help treatments I suggested then the definitive diagnostic test would be the injection. If it helps - even for the short term - then the diagnosis is confirmed.

    Mine was caused by a mountain biking accident that acutely compressed the nerve. Its only 2 mths later so I guess ill keep at it. My symptoms have gone from 95% down to 65% pain/discomfort. Thanks

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  3 місяці тому

      Yes ... its not the usual cause but I can see how it might happen. Its encouraging that symptoms are improving. It might take another 6 months but as long as its heading in the right direction I wouldn't worry. Nerves are generally good at healing themselves.
      Best wishes. Stephen.

    What kind of a doctor do you go see for this I've seen a neurologist but they do not do surgery and you said something about a hip doctor would that be an orthopedic doctor because I didn't know they worked on nerves I really don't know what type of surgeon would untrap the nerve

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  5 місяців тому +2

      Usually it’s an Orthopaedic Hip surgeon who would treat this. Neurosurgeons sometimes treat it as well.

    Thank you,I’m having an issue with small,hotspot in my (R) groin area,not on my thigh.It’s a new thing for me.
    I have been recently having acupuncture due to a car accident in 2017 in a nerve that goes from my (L) neck down through my buttocks,that is connected to the spine.I’m wondering if the heat is coming from the acupuncture? Cuddles from Canada 🇬🇧🇨🇦 🌸🌸🌺🌺M

      Doesn’t sound like Meralgia Paraesthetica. Could be pudendal neuralgia.

      @@PhysioMSK Thanks very much, ironically since I contacted you ,I’ve had somewhat of a recovery ,It’s gone!
      I’ve done a lot of acupuncture since and the (R)hot spot and (L) groin pain is gone completely.
      I do Aqua size, and am very aware now of how I am moving my body, also, I recently found out I need a knee replacement,the radiologist said that the pain in my groin is possibly from the knee.
      Nevertheless moving forward I’ll take it, I appreciate what you do, thanks again. Cuddles from Canada 🇬🇧🇨🇦🌺M

    Can it be caused beacuse of doing yoga poses

    • @PhysioMSK

      Potentially yes. An aggressive hip extension stretch could possibly do this.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  6 місяців тому

      It’s unusual to see this condition in both legs. I would be suspicious of a lower back problem causing spinal nerve irritation (lumbar radiculopathy).

      @@PhysioMSK hi sir. i manage to have the pain on my left thigh go away. as a matter of fact may left leg can stand on its own. but the pain on my right leg has now covered from thigh up to my right butt cheek. all movement is pain even stepping off of the bed. any recommendation?

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  6 місяців тому

      The symptoms you are describing are not consistent with meralgia paraesthetica. It’s likely to be a back problem. Go and see a physiotherapist.

  • @HA-gs7tq

    What if it's just a burning and no pain at all. But a fire burning. I got it after doing 100 leg extensions while exercising. I was pushing the burn thinking it was good. Was fine the next day only. But 2 weeks later my thigh still burns everyday when I sit or lay down. I've just been working out through it, but lessened the weight. I did take a week of rest at first, but resting didn't fix it, so I'm working out through it. It just burns like crazy but doesn't hurt. I hope it stops. I've been stretching hoping that helps. I rested for a whole week so I don't think stopping working out is going to do anything. I no longer do leg extensions until it goes away

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  Місяць тому +1

      It’s not often a painful condition. A burning sensation is common. So is tingling and pins & needles. With your history MP is highly likely. Nerves can be slow to recover but generally do settle down. Try the self help suggestions and keep your fingers crossed.
