There was play because of the firing order. Some pistons up some down so depending on where the cam lobe was =pressure or not on the rocker arms.
Hi, just bought a 2009 C6 1 owner 24K miles, nice to see how the engine covers are removed, want to change the 2 purge vacuum lines that run on top of the intake manifold, could see yours, long vacuum lines, a mousee chewed a little on mine, no real damage seem to work. Now oil, I also use the Mobil-1 5 qts 10W-30 but I mix in 1 qt 10W-20, I think the 10W20 keeps the engine cleaner. What is the braided steel line that runs across the top of the engine, looking at parts diagrams, have not found it yet. Thanks Pennsylvania...
My C6 with 38,000 broke a valve spring. Get ride of those yellow springs!
The lifter fails are with DOD lifters. You have a stick car. No DOD in any of the stick Vettes.
Why don’t you check for clearance on the rocker arms.
It’s not 7.0(427)to have The valve guide problem pertains to the LS7 engines
An actual lifter tick is quite loud. The quiet tick you hear from an LS is generally just valvetrain noise/harmonics transmitted though the exhaust, they get louder when you do headers since the material of the header is thinner than the cast factory manifolds. Also it could very well be a small exhaust leak as well. Again a lifter tick is something you head and you want to immediately shut the car off, there’s no guessing to it. You clearly do not have a lifter tick. Maybe a pulley but it’s more than likely nothing major.
Thanks. I have heard similar sounds coming from LS engines that have lifters that are going bad-the roller chirps. It’s not necessarily “failed” but on its way out. But yeah after digging in a little, I‘ve narrowed in on it being a worn belt. Exhaust leak is definitely possible too-headers coming so that’ll be addressed as well! Thanks again!
Coil Pack Check the plugs while your at it. Common LS issue

I think you’re correct. Tired the water test and Chris went away. Probably the original belt.
I hate to say it but look at the harmonic balancer. See if it is going the death wobble.
Balancer looks good, thankfully!!. Issue fixed in an upcoming video!

No wobble that I can see with my eye. May just change it out while making the other upgrades though!
@@SpeedCultureStudios sometimes the belt tensioner also start to give out on it thats how i noticed my rattle/weird sound
@@drastichacks The balancer was a worry of mine right away but as I’ve spent more time under the hood, it seems belt related. I’ve done the water test and the chirp goes away. It’s probably the original belt so may just be a touch loose but tensioner is a possible culprit too. Thanks for your input!
There is no DOD lifters in any of the c-6 corvettes auto or std.
