Obsession with (bad) ideas or driven by neuroses (demons/daemons) are the source of psychotic behaviour every time.
It doesn't have to be a monumental act, it can be as simple as belief in superstition, (Dostoevsky was a hopeless gambler), but it's always brought about by an obsession and always ends in ruin.

What a timely discussion! I don't think Paul in the Bible believed in demons and there are sound arguments that Jesus did not either, but they understood the beliefs people have about them existing. Sadly, people today are bombarded with nefarious, evil ideas constantly and most are below the level of conscious perception through flashing images and subliminal messages, and ever more blatant, in-your-face messages. These lodge in the subconscious mind and if people are unaware, they can be acted upon unwittingly. It happens to everyone to various degrees, and need to be countered. The ancients understood this better than we seem to today.

The problem is his videos are actually incredibly vague, they say a lot of profound things but conclude nothing. They contain many called to authority like quotations from books.

@@1walkerw - Yes he cites them in a manipulation technique called a "Call to authority run on" where you cite a recognised book and then in the same intonation says HIS entirely bogus belief leading you to attribute the authority of the book to his own beleifs.
It is the same technique Jordon Peterson uses.
Both of them are charlatans. The citing of sources is PART of the con - it is how he convinces you that what he is saying is valid - and as you can see from your comment - it is very powerful.

It is the unfulfilable promise of utopia that they are fed. They don't know they're being conned.
Chesterton had an excellent point, as usual. What might be most important to understand is that, whilst the past can be misrepresented in order to justify outlandish and ill-founded 'philosophies' (although most specifically political ideologies could charitably be described as 'sub-philosophical'), the future is a more dangerous basis for political mythology, because the future *can only be* misrepresented.
Even the occasional sci-fi writer who hits upon an uncannily accurate future development usually describes an extremely negative development. We can see a great deal of what is very likely to get worse in the future, whereas more positive 'pre-imaginings' are likely to sound naive. So, a future-oriented tyrant immediately has *nothing* positive to offer - not even a fanatical misinterpretation of a suppressed human trait (collective identity or spirituality etc, twisted into chauvinism and wilful incoherence) - but can only appeal to the most inhuman and degraded aspects of human nature. What else is our media constantly selling us by now? Right-wing media denounce specific groups, while supposedly left-wing media denounce the entire species - for the corruption of the mega-rich, and the increasing near-impossibility of even living decently. They're apparently not even aware of the contradiction this involves...
When a hopeless situation (hopeless by design, we might add) drives a few people to even 'speak aggressively', they are denounced all over again, as insufficiently 'refined' for the future which is apparently planned for us all. Since it is founded on rank intolerance (double-meaning accidental!), it can only be their future, not ours. Hopefully, of course, it will prove as abortive as their attempts to form arguments. (I'm trying to remember the last time I heard a journalist speak more persuasively than a toddler on any major issue! I'm sure it still happens, but rarely during the last 15 years or so)...

Dostoevsky was a genius in his understanding of the human mind. He pretty much predicted the Bolshevik revolution and warned mankind about the destructive power of collective rationalism. Case in point Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment. He also pretty much nailed it as far as what is going on in the world now.

It is crucial to be aware of your own and other people's demons and to what degree they impact your thoughts and actions. But sometimes it can even seem impossible to distinguish between your own and someone elses demons/ideas.

Independently of the reality of evolution, Darwinism and Neo-Darwinism posits the idea that even in respect of history, perception of reality and morals we are superior to the ancestors and ancient cultures. This creates a lack of emphaty and psychopatic behaviour in teens that take it to far, that's why milant atheist start on their teens most of the time, is an atractive way to conceptualize the world if you are a rebel, fundamentalist have reacted on the opposite direction thinking the past was utopia and no mistake was ever made. The mixture of these concepts was seen in the justifications for slavery throu faith and science when people thought people of color were less evolved or primitive or created apart from Adam. The cure for that for theist was going back to the Imago Dei concept, I don't see how Neo-Darwinism can eliminate for good that kind of evil conceptualization.

I always avoided trends and group think. Human brains are too easily manipulated and brainwashed. I believe that critical thinking and logic, philosophy, problem solving must be taught heavily at each stage of development, especially in grades 1-12.

The more I age, the more I realize how overwhelmingly complicated this world is. It's mind-blowing.
I went to Mass every week as a child. Was told the myths of god and demons, heaven and hell. As a young adult I made a decision. Only go where the evidence leads me. No matter how psychologically challenging or emotionally difficult. And so I came to find whether it's the preacher's at the pulpit speaking on the heavens or the politicians at the pulpit speaking on what to think, both with no evidence, only intentions, it matters not. I will think for myself thank you very much. I will live my life, as I see fit. I stand in awe of the universe and in gratitude for the single short breath that is my life. So many volumes to read. So many sails to set. So many conversations to have. Moment to moment knowing not which will be my last. And I'm just fine with that. Cheers everyone. Reading the possessed or demons by Dostoevsky and man is it spooky how it reflects on what is going on today.
Most of what we are and ever will be are our beliefs. Whether that be our view of the world, our opinions of people or even our ideas of prosperity, these dictate how we live and how our actions affect future generations of people.
The most important thing humans must learn is how to see through the indoctrination and refine our ideas for the sake of creating a prosperous future.

The more I distance myself from media, the more clear I see authoritarianism creep into the culture... a culture born, reared, and raised, by the media, public and private.
Everyone wants to be an influencer, and internet power. Yet, every individual with this desire, is influenced by other influencers, a chain that creates mass psychosis.
To see clearest, do a media fast. Take up a hobby that does not involve a screen. Become passionate.
Yet here I am, trying to be an influencer. We're all hypocrites.

Obsession with (bad) ideas or driven by neuroses (demons/daemons) are the source of psychotic behaviour every time.
It doesn't have to be a monumental act, it can be as simple as belief in superstition, (Dostoevsky was a hopeless gambler), but it's always brought about by an obsession and always ends in ruin.

The problem of psycologhical techniques of manipulation is big and dangerous, even more because of the complexity of the knowledge of that discipline that inevitably leaves a great portion of people out of it. Well, not that it is impossible to understand, but you need time and energy, when most people have to work great part of their day and want to relax or sustain their dreams on their little free time.
Knowing the great power of that knowledge, people rest on the responsibility and honesty of the ones who posses them and use them. Then we need values that prevent the demons and gives air to human potential, as you say, though human is fragile and there's the tragedy. Also, we rest on the responsibility of each citizen of being informed, in order to fruitfully take part in politic and social public life, what the Greeks thought the most important activity of life. So , I connect this with the matter of need of more free time for people to build their spirit and rationality, the proper preparation to fight stupidity. But, the contradiction is that in free time is where stupidity and consumism find fertile ground. I hope im not mistaken, but I remember Aristotle thought that without leisure, there is no democracy.
That's all I wanted to say, just give free way to my thoughts. Im sorry if i was redundant or did repeat some things of the video. If any one wants, I would like to discuss or to read what they think.
First video I watched of your channel and I found good explaining and coherent talking, a good video. I really look forward on this channel, man, this kind of content, no matter how much people see it, leaves room for hope in humanity.
