According to Gay Howard's "Technique of Ballroom Dancing", Rock Turn is danced with 1/4 turn to Right, but very similar movement Rock on Left Foot is without Turn and steps are more sideways.

Professional International tango dance competitors would hold the progressive link for as much as 5 seconds to create great tension in their tango dancing, before they move on stepping across in PP position down the floor to re-commence movement. They also do that in demonstrations when the dance couple doing the demo is the only one on the dance floor, and also in formation dance demos where more than one couple is doing the tango.

Thanks. Although I'm a native English speaker, I actually learnt to dance in a German-speaking country, where, for example, a 'Twist Turn' in Ballroom Tango was known as a 'Spirale'.

Am I imagining things, or is the 'Rock Turn' shown here in fact the 'Rock Step? Equally, the 'Progressive Link' is surely the Quick Link?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the names of things. If you're just trying to get things straight in your head, these figures are from the International style of ballroom dancing. Things in the American style have slightly different names, but are often the same or similar figures, or perhaps your teacher simply used a different name when teaching the step. You can consult a syllabus like the ISTD or DVIDA if you're really interested in standardized names of the steps.
