    I tried dancing tango yesterday at a party, just by following what my friend did. I wanted to put a rose in my mouth but there were none so I put a paper towel. It was fun. That's why im here 😅

    I like how you tell people right at the beginning of the video, that this is American Tango, is important to know the difference and often people confuse the two.

    Came here after hearing Darkhorse podcast (may 22, 2021) with Iona Italia. Great discussion about the social skills that develop as a result of a culture that includes this type of dance. I’m not really a dance person, but it was interesting enough that I’m considering it.

    • @Passion4dancing
      @Passion4dancing  7 років тому +15

      For social dancing I prefer a little space... In competitive dancing it is more common to be glued to each other. And yes technically you'd have more body contact for ideal technique.

    Lots of rude, ill informed unkind comments about Kim, the Chinese lady (is she a robot, weird, etc.. )They are all nonsense, whe has a pretty face, nice hair and a beautiful slim figure that curves in all the right places, and she moves sensuousness and drama, the moods of the tango.
    Having danced ballroom and Latin for many years,I am certain that she could also engage the emotions and steps of the other ballroom and Latin dances. She wasn't there to talk, she was there to demonstrate the woman's part of Basic tango. She did it well, she is , judging by how well she executes the basics, capable of demonstrating Advanced.
    It's easy to sit at the side and sneer, no?

      @@Passion4dancing Your welcome-- and , regardless of her nationality, she's very pretty, stylish and a very good dancer. I'm almost 70 now and my knees are wrecked due to military injuries from decades ago eventually presenting their bill, so my dancing days are done. ( Painful though it is, I'd rather not dance than dance far below the level I was at )
      I had only clicked on your clip because I saw it in a side bar--I used to be able to do umpteen sides of the ten International Standard dances, but, amazed at how much I had forgotten, I clicked on a few of your clips.
      In my years of dancing , I had three instructors, all approved by DanceSport Scotland. IMO, the instructional techniques in your clips is first rate--very clear aurally and visually and well founded.
      I liked the techniques taught on leading, my first instructor deliberately taught little on leading, as he was able to make more money by just teaching the steps-.
      Although he had competed at national level, he didn't want anyone in his class to understand the deeper levels of dance or to have a mind of their own,. In his twenty-odd years of instructing, he never took a student to competition level , and weeded out and discouraged talented dancers ( some of whom went on to compete nationally) and he would pick on them and launch into emotional tirades now and then, as he couldn't bear not being the centre of attraction. lt was all about money and ego to him.
      He was always running down other instructors, according to him, there was nobody to compare with HIm!.
      One evening I partnered a Chinese lady( one of three who came one night who attended classes run by an older Scottish guy that the egotist had criticised as being too old to learn from)
      When I danced with her it was immediately apparent that she had what I call "dance intelligence" and the connection was really good.
      I danced with the other two Chinese ladies and they were all good. I wondered if it was "Chinese thing" but they said it was a Jimmy Coleman thing ( the instructor he said was too old) and as I continued to partner the gal I'd danced with first, eventually she and her pals twisted my arm to go to one of Jimmy's classes-- what a revelation. Jimmy (God rest him, he passed away a decade ago) was a sports scientist before the study had been invented, that's why "Jimmy's girls" were so good and so intuitive. They all and resepcted loved the old guy, because he had brought out all of their grace and elegance, and given them joy in the art of movement, and a deep understanding of dance.
      I see Jimmy in the instructors in your clips, thanks for awakening memories of very happy times.
      :-)
