    The New York Giants’ defense was incredible last season. FootballOutsiders ranked them second just behind the Denver Broncos’ defense under Wade Phillips. In this video breakdown, I explained their scheme, how they use a NASCAR pass rush package, and what makes them so good.
    The Giants’ defense is based on the 4-3 Over front. In this defense, the three-technique defensive tackle lines up on the strongside of the formation. In this alignment, he is usually responsible for the B-gap in run support. In the other interior position, the nose tackle lines up opposite of the weakside shoulder of the center.
    Overall, the Giants’ defense is so good is because there is little consistency in their formations. They formations are unpredictable and it makes strategizing against them even harder when they have so much natural talent on the field.

    The fact that with a small donation you can create a video like this on pretty much any idea the guy doing the donation wants is pretty insane. I love the New York giants and now I feel like I know their defense a hell of a lot more. Thank you! Looking forward to see how our dtackle drafted replaces Hankins.

    One thing that allowed the Gmen to be so aggressive in their front is they had 4 really good DBs. even teams with a good slot receiver that usually creates a mismatch found he was covered with a quality DB. Collins Apple Jenkins and DCR are all premier defenders.

      prescotts rookie season was he did a video on Patrick Mahomes and showed his strengths and weaknesses id love to see a vid like that on #4 (not a cowboys fan just wanna see how good he really is and how well he goes through his reads but I'm too lazy to breakdown the hilights and I don't have the football brain of Samuel gold 😂😭)

      Chiefs defense was much better toward the end of the season. Franchised tagged Dee Ford he was a beast last yr...

    • @autodidacticprofessor869
      @autodidacticprofessor869 5 років тому

      @@herscheld1853 He wasn't much of a beast in the AFC Championship, especially since his dumb ass cost us a Super Bowl. He's too small to be a 4-3 down lineman and we got a truly ELITE rusher in Clark so I'm glad to see him go. The "read and react" bullshit Bob Sutton scheme is gone and I'm happy. They did not get better toward the end and that's why we couldn't beat a single playoff caliber team even with Mahomes and Hill scoring 40 points a game. This defense, at the very least, will be more aggressive and help the offense a lot more. On paper, the Chiefs D is a better unit than the 2007 Giants that Spagnuolo won a Super Bowl with and we have a far better QB than Eli ever was. If they don't win a Super Bowl this year, I will be shocked.

      Dude, they don't even have to get that high! Look what they just did with the 31st overall defense and 24th scoring defense.. If they can move up just a couple spots they'll be more than good enough to get themselves into the 'ship.

    • @autodidacticprofessor869
      @autodidacticprofessor869 5 років тому

      @@GRITBONE Indeed. They just need players who don't like up offsides in critical games! lol Seriously though, I'm excited and players like Hitchens have already spoken highly of this defensive scheme giving the linebackers a simpler, single gap role which allows them react quickly and aggressively. Most of the local press have noticed a HUGE difference in how the defensive coaches are actually COACHING, unlike the passive style of the old Bob Sutton regime. Mahomes has stated that this defense, even in light pads and no contact is really challenging the offense in ways he hasn't seen before. Once Chris Jones is signed, I think this unit could actually be a top 15 group. They have Brandan Daly of the Patriots whose d-line dominated in the playoffs last year. They have Matt House coaching the linebackers, who had perhaps the best linebacking corps in college football last year at Kentucky and Dave Merritt coaching defensive backs, who shares a Super Bowl ring with Spagnuolo from their Giants days. Pretty much a super group of coaches. In addition, there will be several different starters from last season so to compare this group with the group from last year is silly. It's going to a very different look and approach, no doubt.

    the Alabama dt will fit in perfect in place of hankins..goodson will be the mlb..Collins in his 3rd year..apple in his 2nd year and some of their free agent pickups along the def line that flew under the radar will be a handful for teams this year.....especially when the giants offense might be over the top...if this all comes together the giants will be tough to beat!

    • @SamuelGoldNFL
      @SamuelGoldNFL  7 років тому

      One of them will be getting more carries than the other. I think Kelley has the starting role until he loses it. But if he does lose it, don't expect him to get more than 3-5 carries per week after that. The same goes for Perrine if he's not a starter. You only have limited carries to dish out and you have to establish a rhythm.

      if u watched the game thoroughly you would've seen the Giants hold the Packers to under 20 or so yards for the first 1 and a half qtrs.. before halftime the Packers scored on a poor defensive stance with a (lucky hail Mary ).. after holding the Packers for about 3 and half qtrs the Giants defense got fatigued due to the offense not producing, a a crucial peice on their defense also got injured. from there on out it was all Packers offense
