Not sure what all is in bloom right now being I’m brand new to the new drug! But... the bees in my one little box are bringing in pollen like crazy! That’s a very clever idea.

I in Washington State the bee keepers here keep moving hives following the bloom also once orchards have been taken care of will move hives to higher ground away from orchards to protect them from chemicals being used
But I believe also reduce hive beetle contact ??

I’d just swap a strong capped brood frame or two over to the weak hive. I did so yesterday to slow down a hive (we’re in Spring swarm season in Australia 🇦🇺).

My bees are in Georgetown TX and they’re bringing in a lot of pollen. I have no idea what it is, but it’s not the Ultra Bee that I have out for them. They’re not hardly touching that stuff lol. Just goes to show that what you say is true: if they can get it from nature they’ll take it before they take the fake stuff.

Golden rod in full flow here Wales UK - lots of pollen - And the much hated Himalayan balsam in full flow. I have Himalayan balsam and it is a tad invasive but easily managed I find. Anyway what I'm finding is the balsam seems like a natural bee gym - In the same way the commercial bee gym works. The balsam flower at its entrance firmly brushes the back of the bee thorax down to abdomen ( lots of white striped bees 🤣 ) this may have two benefits - It aids in removing mites by brushing, and it encourages bee grooming because of pollen coverage. That's my thinking anyway.

Some golden rods here in Switzerland. But this plant is not popular here it's not native and known as invasive, so they cut it down. We have still white clover but the farmers cut it quickly to produce some more hay for wintertime. What kind of bees, do you breed? Buckfast? We have the dark native bees, Buckfast and Carnica. Now I have hybrids of dark and Buckfast bees, they're very aggressive and stings a lot.

Good tip..but couldn't you take a frame of ready to hatch bees from the big one and put in the nuc? Instead of luring bees from the big one into the little one, that's what I usually do here in Oregon

You would still need lots of Nurse Bees to keep that Brood warm. He didn't have that in that tiny Nuc population, hence it got 'stray' bees to build up the Nuc. 🐝

Anybody.. Lost track of the commentry. Did he take the queen out of the nuc or the hive? (he said hive, but subsequently sound like he`s talking about the nuc, although doesn`t specify) Thanks in advance..

He took it out of the nuc so the foragers that came in from the other hive and didn't recognize her wouldn't get confused and attack her.

Hey everyone, I am a new beekeeper. I had one hive last year that had to leave 😢 because I wasn't paying enough attention and they crowded themselves out with honey production, that they had no more room for brood. This year I have four nukes and our area hear on Alm Rd in Everson, Washington is abundant with wild flowers blueberries flowering fruit trees and bushes. I am planning on planting more bee favorite flowers, and we are also trying out a hibernacula for the first time as a way to keep our fish pond more clear and clean. Do any of you beekeepers out there have a suggestion on what to search on UA-cam to learn more about beekeeping, I just don't know enough to know what to search, but really want to learn more.

Sir, I live on 3 acres in Southwest Florida and put up a few screech owl boxes that are 20” x 20”... a week later it was filled up with honey bees. They’ve been in there for about a year. Fast forward to today, a coworker that works with bees took the nest box down and we were able to move most to a brood box only. We weren’t able to find the queen... we took about 7 combs out and rubber banded them into the frames and put them in the box. His opinion the way the bees were quickly going down into the frames and the way the bees were fanning at the entrance seems to think the queen is in there..... I’m a rookie and excited to learn! Judging from your experience, does it sound like the queen is in there? He said there were a lot of eggs in the combs.... If the queen is missing or dead, will the bees die? Will they produce another queen? I’m all ears!! And I’m ordering from your site tomorrow! There were certainly those black beetles in there!
