It was my girlfriend that got me into FFXIV. She was already fully caught up, but she made a new character to follow along with me from the very start. When we recently got to this point in the story, when the cutscene ended and the final trial was unlocked, I was to my surprise and amazement greeted by a full party of friends and friends of friends that she had secretly gathered to be our champions from across the rift. She had the idea months back when we started Shadowbriners, and had been orgenizing behind the scene for a month leeding up to it.
@@katiepersons6575 She has a plan for when in the story it would feel the most appropriate to do eternal bonding, but having been busy with life stuff, we haven't gotten there yet in the MSQ.
I mean, if you had like 12,000 plus years of burden to *drag* along through history, fighting a deific figure and their chosen champions throughout time only to *try* to return the world to normal not even knowing how the calamity happened in the first place I think you'd be a bit tired and grumpy too. I think we all would.
So, fun little touch, every other boss in the game has a title, such as the final boss of Amarout having "Cthonic Riddle" as a title upon its name, "Therion" (which is Greek for Beast, as in The Beast in the Book of Revelations) Except Emet-Selch, who said before the fight, "Let us cast aside titles and pretense," his battle title was simply "Hades."
well it does make sence, his job as part of the convocation, was to be the arbitor and tender to the cycle of souls, so hades realy is an apt description, as hes job litteraly was to be hades of greek mythology

Doesn’t that kind undermine your sense of identity since Seto says it best, “you are you and no one else”? It’s who we ‘were’ and all the good we have done was virtue by who we are, not who we were. Not to mention Ardbert who was his own person as well who had a life different to us as well. Souls are souls, they’re only a part of who you are, not the whole of who you are.

One thing that unfortunately gets cut out of reactions to this ending, is the actual end of quest, the final cutscene as you walk through the crystal mirror/portal. I just love that monologue by Exarch there.
"What, all by myself" refers to you needing Ardbert. BTW that wasn't Hythlodaeus, he saw as an an Ancient for a brief moment once we merged with Ardbert. But yeah, "Remember us" breaks me every time! 😢

Well I played on the Chinese server and the 3rd option at 36:18 in Chinese is actually "Good morning, G'raha Tia"... And G'raha would reply with "Good morning" too, it's definitely one of my favorite parts
The best we can describe it... You and Ardbert had your own Rejoining. You should do the alchemist quests through level 50 and note every detail about your soul in Shadowbringers and forward.
man the sfx are turned waaay down makes the voice lines sound real weird when an explosion sounds like someone lighting their cigarette I feel like I have a strange pressure on my ears almost makes it kinda hard to listen to
he wanted us to become a light warden this would crumble the first(a rejoining), by doing so he would of wanted to toss us into the 13th to rejoin that one as well.
"I think the scions have some degree of plot armor" Oh no, they have all of it. Literally, all of it. Cant wait for Yshtola to "die" and come back for a 3rd time next expansion!

It's a neat detail that has been lost on everyone I've seen and talked to about this game (myself included at the time).
One thing I hope the game does in the future is update the dungeon and trial bosses with the title cards. I think it’s doable.
