Hello Paul, very detailed washing machine explanation of equipment and functions and this guidance improved my understanding and other's skills too. I am wondering about level switch does control same , constant level or veritable level of each washing program, means, normal, heavy load etc. I have observed in machine level was same in all programs.

I bought a Samsung EcoBubble unit not long ago and I wish I watched this video before. Although is a slightly newer & fancier model, that poor quality spider worries me a lot. I just hope they've put a good one in my machine. Very well explained, video is top.
L.E: Apparently things a bit more complicated related with that spider. There is both an economic reason and one related to how physic chemistry works. Basically, are two metals that are giving and taking each other ions, each part with own electrical charge will get or give these elements. So, they figured out that a stainless-steel drum is more expensive than a drum spider to replace so the part to sacrifice has been chosen: the spider made of magnesium-aluminum alloy which will _feed_ in time the drum maintaining it shine. Of course, there is this idea of composite materials to be used, but paired with high grade stainless steel or other metals will increase the cost of the unit quite a bit. Collected the info above from reddit, various technical forums and a study I found on Research Gate website.

Hi Paul, thanks for the video. I have the same model and the drum is no longer centered. Everything works fine until it gets to the spin cycle-because the drum isn't centered, it won't complete the cycle. Do you think it could be the spider or something else? This should be a reminder to do regular hot washes (60°C and higher). That not only keeps the machine clean and mould-free, but also lengthens the machine's lifespan by a very sizeable amount!

Do you know what avoir me to remove the panel ? Thank you very much, all the rest was quite easy to found by myself ;)

Do you need to take the entire washing machine apart in order to take out the drum? I have a WD10J6410AW/AX from samsung and the drum is loose so I want to see if I can take just the drum out to repair it without taking it all apart and risking losing pieces and not being able to put it all together again.

I agree 100% regarding stainless steel spiders!
I had mine custom made for one of my projects, and it was 80 Euro (approximately £70).
I searched for the original Samsung spider on a UK website, and it is roughly the same, sometimes even more expensive than the stainless steel one I bought!
On another note, I was wondering, would a Vestel motor (made by Welling) fit the module of Indesit IWSC61251? The motor specifications appear to be the same, 17000rpm and 300W.
    Thanks in advance!

Second: Maybe you know the solution for my problem.
My machine recently started making a pinging/snapping sound, and it's only there when the drum turns and the belt is on. I've replaced the belt using your videos, but that didn't solve it. I checked the belt and wheel for burrs and can't find any.

They don't use stainless steel for the spider because they want you to buy a new washer every 5 years. If you insist to change the bearings and the spider, that will not be economic once you factor in the cost of parts and labour. The only way to sort out manufacturers is to have 3rd party ESG reporting similar to energy efficiency. Based on this video, on an ESG star rating that washer would get 2 out of 5 stars - 2 because at least you can change the bearings and spider unlike most other washers.

I think at 32:51 is a clear proof they they want it to break so we would buy a new one. We could get around it to add less noble metal like zinc, but question how to connect it in between the metals. This solution is used on boats to protect more precious metals.

I agree that it the aluminium spider isnt the best choice in terms of durability. But simply saying that it wouldnt cost more to make it out of stainless steel is simply said than done. Not only is steel more expensive. The casting process is a little harder than aluminium. The added weight also affects the whole machine, you will need a more powerfull motor to get it spinning. Also all the added weight adds up to shipping costs, from part manufacturer all the way to the end supplier.

I've got a stumper for you Paul. I have a samsung ecobubble washer 11kg WW11K8412OW. Replaced the spider. performed a calibration cycle. Now after a cycle the door latch clicks open and closed intermittently till it turns off, door is locked so you can't open it. You have to turn it back on for it to open, then it starts the cycle again while the door is open. I have two of these so I swapped out parts from the good one, swapped the main controller, display controller and the whole front panel/door. It still continues to click the door unlocked and locked after each cycle. Can't find anything on google or youtube even mentioning it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers from Oz

I have just replaced it and i know that in 4 years it will collapse as well. Shame on you SAMSUNG. But anyway; great video !!! PS. Does anyone have a clue how to extend the spider's lifespan ? I’ve heard about some strange attempts like resin coating or painting, Others claim it will only make things worse as the moisture will fill the potential cracks leading to faster corrosion ..... ant thoughts ?
