Just who DIDN'T Edward the VII have an affair with? 🤣🤣🤣
His wife?
@@alisonmcgoff You got it 🤣🤣🤣
You know. Man was a perv. Im suprised he didnt die of syphillis🤭😂
I can honestly say , we never had an affair.
Me
So few came to her funeral because she outlived everyone who knew her. Guess that's the way to go.
Linda Ciccoli sounds very sad and depressing to me
Lived long life & seemed to like what she did. She spent away her money.. but can't bring it with ya. She earned it. & Was a smart beautiful woman of her time.. ..
It's not to nice to outlive everyone. Because then you are left all alone
Yes. She had beautiful memories and wonderful stories to keep her going.
That would be hard to be one of the last.
This is quite fascinating. As a former professional middle eastern dancer I admire her. I also understand her.
Research Fatima also known as Little Egypt. She introduced Middle Eastern belly dance at the Chicago World Fair in the late 1890s. That is the first time Americans had ever seen belly dance and the first time they ever heard the exotic sound of The Snake Charmers Song. Today that exotic sound is part of our culture. A congressman brought the team of belly dancers to the worlds fair and it was the most scandalous thing to happen at the time. We were still in the Victorian era. It’s all on Google.
Thanks for the suggestion!
She was mentioned in the current war, the movie staring Benedikt cumberbatch as Edison !
Cool story.
Summarised y'all colonised other people's culture
How interesting, thank you. I'll look it up. 😊
I love when you cover courtesans their lives and stories are so fascinating.
An extra fact, the young woman in the picture at around 12:30 is a Mexican actress Maria Felix, who played La Belle Otero in a Mexican-French (?) movie based on her life in the 1950s. Some clips exist on youtube and I always wanted to watch the full movie.
They should do Maria Felix! She had one heck of an interesting life!
@@aliciaanguiano3860 I completely agree! I am so sad she did not make any Hollywood movies, though I can understand her reasons, she would have become a world famous star.
Maria Felix was stunning..
- Maria Felix was more beautiful than Otelo ever was.
Years ago I heard a recording of her singing. Early recordings in primitive monoural sound, usually pitched everything higher than what it really was, music and voice. A total cabaret singer. Her singing was happy and cheerful.
Another really good episode of forgotten lives.Really enjoyed Carolina's story.Kudos to her for taking control of the fate allocated to her and making the most of every opportunity that came her way. If she hadn't the determination to be proactive then, looks or not, she'd have likely had a from and much shorter life. Thanks for posting.👍
Thank you !!
She had been so smart with everything else in her life, amassed a fortune and could have lived very well into old age..... But that one vice.... "Gambling" took her down!
- Yes. She lost all the jewels she was gifted and the millions she earned and ended up in a one room place.
So many women endured so much pain, but she became a very loved woman.
I must admit that the narrator’s voice is a real treat to hear sooo gentle yet captivating in a way that makes us enjoy the video more.❤️
Thanks very much really happy to hear that :)
@@ForgottenLives God bless you our melodious nightingale 😘
He's even more handsome as well as his trusting voice and pronunciation of many difficult names in various languages. Striking young man.
Thank you for mentioning the film. I had to watch it. She was indeed very beautiful.
What an incredibly interesting lady! I love the beautiful photos of her you included in the video. It gives me an idea of her personality, charm, & beauty. 💜
I love the way you have put this together. Your voice is wonderful in the narrative and smoothing making the story even more enjoyable.
I really love all of her amazing outfits and dresses. Excellent video
Thank you :)
Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
- Agree, but she probably had a beautiful personality that attracted men.
Really enjoy your stories, most I haven’t heard of. Keep up the great work🤘
Thanks ! Will do :)
That was a wonderful short story with a wonderful message toward the end. I do love your stories. Thanks.
Superb, she sounded like an amazing woman. Thanks again FL
Cheers Crime Reel!!
I was binge watching your older videos until, I stumbled across this. Perfect timing!
Awesome!!!
Wow she lived a long life if she not had gambled. She could of lived better the rest of her life. That's why I don't gamble. I dont play the lottery. If I'm fortunate enough to live a long life, I want to be comfortable. Not have to depend on others. She had a bad beginning, managed to do well only to have lost it due to gambling. Lesson learned. Message received.🤗💯👏🦋🌠🙂👋. I do enjoy these stories. Thank you. I learn a lot. Neita james.
What a beautiful sculpture of her...🥰😍🥰😍 she lived well in her prime... Thank you for her story ❤
That was a fascinate story. She had a tough busy life! I enjoyed listen her story. Thank you for your awesome work on the video F. Lives! Have great week!

@@ForgottenLives No problem! It's my pleasure. Thank you

I mean *I* got to see it!😅
Quite a life she had to look back on! Thanks for telling her story, FL.
Thanks for watching!!
just discovered your channel. how interesting! I'm subscribing! thank you.going to binge watch now.
Reminds me of my great grandmother, I never met her but my mom's told me that she got a job at a fish cannery because she loved betting on horses but one day she came home and her daughter refused to hug her because she smelled of spoiled fish and that night she quit her job and stopped gambling because her daughter meant more to her then her hobby/addiction..
I wish more people could be like her..
Thank you for another fascinating video!
Thanks for the support :)
What an interesting woman! Sad to think she only had that belief about women. Thank you
I've never heard of her before. Interesting woman. Thanks for the info.
Thank you for your effort, wow what a life, lived to the full but then to end as she started, with nothing!😥
I love hearing stories about the women of history who often get hidden in time!
Another amazing video as usual, u never fail to disappoint! Definitely one of my favourite UA-cam channels alongside Peoples Profiles and Biographics, keep up the good work and cant wait till the next video!

Hugs from Sweden
Thanks as always!!!
More or less,I think courtesans have guts.Tony has spoken.
I really enjoy your work.
From grace to grace and back to grass, moral or the lesson, money has wings, u need to be wise.
That's one thing that never interest me Gambling I think more of my hard earned Money than losing it on gambling tables.its a Pity no one advices her she seems an intelligent woman. I enjoyed the story look farward to the next
I agree with you. I have no interest in gambling. I used to have a very dear friend in Vegas who I visited yearly. Never once put so much as a quarter in a slot machine. It's a strange addiction.
not forgotten any longer!!!!!!! ✨🌷💐🕊
Great video thanks for posting
:D
Great video! Thanks BG.
Bera :)
She probably didn't want our pity for the latter part of her life. She had beautiful memories. RIP 🕊
I want to see the 1 minute film she made!
I noticed that with al these different women that I've watched in their Stories; they pretty much had sad lonely endings.
Although they lived lavish lifestyles, in the end they virtually had nothing but broken hearts. That goes to show that MONEY and/or Material things doesn't but love nor happiness.
Just ended my game ( Zelda Breath of the Wild I have over 1000 hours of game play) Time to wind down ..This is perfect...Love your uploads!!!!
Great to hear! Hope you enjoyed !!
How could she keep up with all these men and remember their names. She must have been very clever.
I love these videos!!!!!!!
Thank you :D
Your background music is great
Thank you 💜
Considering her lifestyle; she lived a long time. 96...Dancing probably made her physically strong thus prolonging her life.
Part of my morning walk listening to your awesome voice narrations and interesting history!
Fascinating.
No sleep 😴for me just yet😔. Thanks for the upload 👍😁
Hope you enjoyed!
I really enjoyed this video. She didn't the best she could in her era.
Thank You 😊
Interesting, whirlwind of a life. Thank you.
p.s. Would love to see your take on Mata Hari.
Thanks ! Will look into it !
Is she not the infamous courtesan that when she ran out of money at a casino pull up her dress when collateral was requested for the extension of funds?
Read this many years ago and was impressed by the action as being as good as a bullion of gold. "We Madame :-)"
I can't remember her name only that she was one of King Edwards mistresses.
Keep up the great stories.
Not too sure! Might could be, thanks for the support!
Oui madame, not wee madame, he didn’t ask her to wee, that would have cost extra
@@squarepeg9484 Thank you. You are of course correct. That was an unforgivable phonetical error to such a beautiful language. I know the correct spelling; however, I have fallen down the UA-cam rabbit hole of rereading & triple checking my comments.
Bonne journee a toi et merci. I hope UA-cam does not correct.
...of NOT checking ...😄
all ways good stories to hear from you
Thanks :)
She is actually apart of my family. Her and my mom look a lot alike.
Greatttt 1st again :)
I love the way you call her regular punters " Patrons"....ha ha.
Thank you.
Love these stories :) can you do a video on the Harris list of covent garden ladies, their lives were fascinating and sad
Thanks I'll look into it !
Carmencita is in Huntly Archives 1890's also each clip of dancing is in color😀
Thanks so much for another bio of a cortisan of La Belle Epoch. It was such a brief and sparkling period when La Grande Passionel ruled the elite and artists alike.
Viva La Demi Monde !
... actually it would be delicious to hear about the male denizens of this world if you could find any information.
👍👍👍💐💐💐
Thank you! I'll se what I can find !
Love it
ty!
Thanks for watching!!
Thanks FL🙋
Thanks for watching!
Sounds like the monarchy has got some history there huh
How do you pronounce those names so beautifully? Thank you and I like very much
Thanks for the compliment! I try my best :)
@@ForgottenLives ❤
It won't matter to you who comes to your funeral. What matters to you are the years after your birth and before your memorial.
Damn. What a life!
Pics don't show acclaimed beauty?
Fran Reid yeah why would 6 men kill themselves because of that
Please do a video of Ivar Kreuger, "The Match King".
Those damn casinos.!!!
They clean you up .
The story was very i.
Captivating the she live
Her and all rich men
We're very generous.
I certainly would like
To read her story .
Thanks for wounderful
Story!?!!
Ty.
Some things never change. Same story different faces.
What kind of dance did she do?
WOW!
La Belle Otero looks very pretty..Tony has spoken.
More legend than anything..
I love how you can find other people to look up in these comment sections
Waw never heard of this story they should make a movie out of her life..
I think her one miscalculation was living to 96. She probably thought she'd die in her mid 70s and she didn't have any kids or close relatives.
Anyone have a link to the one minute film?
Here is the link. The dance is toward the end of the video
ua-cam.com/video/gnBJJkuc5I8/v-deo.html
Link is below
So. The entire Mata Hari thing was in vogue at one time?
Gambling is a hell of a drug...
interesting story, at the end of her life, had little money left!!!
I found your channel searching for stuff about Cora Pearl- didn't find that but still subbbed immediately!
So much to watch in social distancing lockdown now, thank you!!
And if you haven't already, I'd still recommend a video on Cora Pearl. Her life was really interesting and full of crazy decadence.....but from what I can find, only one channel on the whole of youtube has done a short bio on her.
Welcome!! I'll do her soon I hope!
Another pretty lady.again another lady who lived a long life.
This gal was a survivor....woman had to use the skills at her disposal. Sex opens many doors then as now as well.....maybe more so these days from the look of things in social media should one choose to “work” that way, No judgements.....
Can you do some videos can pls do videos on socialites
I wish I could watch her dance though.
THE SAME EXACT SHIT THAT HAPPENS TODAY, to so many children who started working as childhood actors. So very sad, at least there will be some therapy offered for addicts today...
fascinating. Do a story on Kellie Everts, the "Lady Who Strips for God" & "Dances to Save Men's Souls" lol🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😜😜😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Help her NOT TO BE forgotten.
Shame you couldn't put any live footage of La Belle Otero.
There is an early film of her dancing that I have seen. It's very short and was taken during a trip to Russia.
Is that where LaBelle FL name Comes from?
👍
Such wealth usually don't last. What a sad life
How about women pirates as a subject pls? X
