I have been living in China for the past 15 years along with other Indians. Hot Pot is one thing that we all eat with Joy as it tastes phenomenal.
Immigrants from South Asia have been moving to America way before the 90’s. The first big/sizable wave, like my parents, came over from India in the 1960’s and 70’s. These were the pioneers of the Indian community - founders of organizations, temples, stores, etc.
Nope, as far as I know, the first wave came in the 1700s. The Sikhs were among the first, followed by Parsees. There's a story of a beautiful relationship between a Sikh guy and Irish girl from the early 1800s. They had a girl together, but she got sold in the slave markets.
Also, like Indians and other persecuted communities(like Natives and blacks) formed close units.

In China I tried hotpot many times, chilli doesn't mean spicy, actually different chillies have different taste , they are not spicy as we think in Pak-indo, but diverse in taste

Harnoor bhai, I think you should avoid having such spicy food, because I believe you have Pitta dosha which is not for overall health. Having such spicy and pungent dishes will increase excessive heat in your body which would at last result in acne and lots of other long term illness. I think you should look on that.
