I am so happy to have found these step by step directions. I do not understand a company which does not supply step by step pictures with words which tell you how to put it together. It took an hour and a half to remember UA-cam!!! I really appreciate this help. The man at HD was so rude. I would have paid a fee to them for assembly. Thank you for this. Now, I hope I can replace string attachment with super heavy duty blade as he said it would work. Here’s hoping it will.
Thank you so freaking much. My dad bought one of these last year, and got frustrated that it didn't work like his old one. Of course he (much like I would) had tossed all the information. I am embarrassed that I spent easily two hours cussing the thing till I found this video.
I came straight to You Tube. Seeing is easier than reading all the stuff in the book. I read all the warning parts though. But I do not toss the books. I actually file them in one place.
Ha! Crazy. I have been using the exact same trimmer you had been using. I joked with my husband last night and told him I need a cordless trimmer with a longer pole because I can’t get behind the azaleas near the house with the one I have so the weeds and all are growing like a forest next to the skirting. He came home today from work early due to rain and had stopped and bought me THIS new one (the one you are unboxing) for my birthday present. (Yes, I do not have one single solitary problem with my husband giving me presents like this for gifts. I am not big on jewelry and don’t want to WASTE money on diamonds when they do not impress me at all). Thanks for doing this video. It helped me alot.
BTW- It is now 2023 and the charger that comes with it now is bigger and has a fan in it. First charger I have seen with a fan you can actually HEAR when you put the battery pack in it.
I really appreciate the walk through. A friend got me one as a housewarming gift, but slightly used and the instructions online weren't clear. I know exactly what I've got now. Thanks!
Just a heads up. If you are not going to use the fixed-string/plastic blade unit, but only the bump string, you don't have to take the head apart to put in new string. Just line up the arrows on the bottom, thread in the string through the eyelets, (this may take several trys). even the ends, and twist with your hands or the included speed crank until about 6 inches are still sticking out on both sides. Super easy. Barely an inconvenience. ; ) By the way, I had a whole back yard of monster 4 to 5 foot tall, pulpy weeds (more brush than weeds) most one half inch thick, some one inch so I got the brush attachment for about 70 dollars more because I knew string was not going to touch it. Worth every penny for that type of situation.
@@debramartin9396 it does but the battery will last about 20-30 mins. I have about 6-8 batteries that I take with me. I think in the long run it’s still better. I would just get the extended warranty just to be on the safe side
Probably figured this out since the video but u don’t need to have the head taken apart to load it with new string (you only have to take it apart to clear jams and if the live breaks off), u can just live the arrows on the head up, pass the line through, and spin the green bit on the bottom of the head by hand or using tht green crank.
This thing works well. My biggest beef is the battery is so heavy, it really weighs on you after awhile. Suggest an after-market shoulder strap if your gonna be running it for a long period of time.
shoulder strap and Darwin Grip.... It will feel so light that you could add a 8ah or even 12ah battery and stil use it with ease. See what I mean here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsjlPT8jkWneo?feature=share Ful details in the video description.
@justin I see you are still active responding to comments. If you used the weed eater constantly in one session to cut regular lawn grass only, how long does the 4.0 ah battery last?
Also there is place on the shaft suggesting that you line the handle up there about 5 inches from where you have it. It really is more comfortable if you put it there. I can see you saying ' Ahhh" after you feel the difference. I laughed when you threw the old one away.
I hope this is better than the Worx. the batteries for the lawn mower and the trimmer died after maybe 2 years. Replacement batteries are so expensive!

I understand what you mean! I"m so happy this video has been helpful!

I have had my smaller trimmer for a couple years now and haven’t had any problems with it not working. I do plan to keep it for small jobs.

Thanks Jim I’ll give that a try!
I use this with my lawn care service and it gets the job done!! I’ve had no issues yet
Does it do tall grass? Or tall weeds?

Thanks for making this video. I just purchased one and can now bypass the directions :-)
Thank you. Your visual tutorial was very helpful.
Do you have a link to the not plastic blade attachments?

Same - a strap would be helpful
Yes it's heavy. It hurts my back and shoulder. I just take a break after about 10 15 minutes. Not to forget it makes you tired fast.

I have the corded version. Lots of power. Bump feed. No gas is a real benefit. I do an acre. Takes a little work with the cord, but worth it.
Yes especially with gas prices now, the battery power is 👌🏻
Thank you! Great Review!
If you don't know the name of a part, just call it a "flange". Nobody argues with that.
Flange is the perfect word lol
@justin I see you are still active responding to comments. If you used the weed eater constantly in one session to cut regular lawn grass only, how long does the 4.0 ah battery last?
A surprisingly long time. We have about 1 acre and it can weed the whole thing. Probably 15-20 mins of trimming and plenty of juice left
@@justinandjessdiy thanks for the quick reply.
Does the trimmer still work good? Thanks
Great information
THANK YOU!
Nice review! You did a job👍
Good job
Did anyone have a problem getting this thing to start brand new out of the box battery works great with the blower but won’t start with the trimmer

Haha I’m glad I did throw it away, this new one has been a game-changer for me, way more powerful
Yeah these Ryobi paper instructions they provide really suck. Thanks for your help bud!
Any time I get a new tool - straight to UA-cam 😂
I can't get the handle on
Best video I have found on this. Thanks. The directions were sparse.
I hope this is better than the Worx. the batteries for the lawn mower and the trimmer died after maybe 2 years. Replacement batteries are so expensive!
That's a good question, and yea unfortunately those batteries run high $$
Your handle is in the wrong place. It says on the pole where to put it.
