We put branches in our new coop and the girls do seem to love them. We also built our coop mostly with materials on hand. 15x15 for a few hundred dollars of materials vs a few thousand to buy one.
This is the best chicken coop I have found so far on youtube. there are a few things I 've been looking for in my design of my chicken coop: 1) security, 2) eggs handling, 3) easy to clean, 4) easy to handle daily chors, 5) chicken happiness. All there are in the design shown here. and much more! thank you for the wonderful job.
We have the little water cups that attach to a 5-gallon bucket but our girls don’t use them. They’re just not very smart. Completely separate, my wife got a little kiddie pool that she filled with water and some rocks for the girls to walk on to cool off when it gets 100+. We found that they like to go there to drink. We don’t clean it very often either. Gets to be more like a pond, but that’s normal for them. Mosquitoes could be a problem but we found that the girls learned to hunt for extra protein before the actual mosquitoes became a problem.

I'm so happy you liked the video and found it helpful! I appreciate it, and I hope your final coop design has everything you want!
Love the liquid pond liner idea.
I got a clearance box of life proof vinyl flooring, but might have to look into the pond liner idea.
I’ve heard of the herb garden but haven’t built one yet.
I also like your sliding shade cloth.
I love your coop design. 🥰❤️🐓
Thank you Kiki 💕

ha! yes, the pool gets used as a pool for about 5 of my girls, the rest just drink the dirty water 🤦♀️
We have a raised coop, and when a hen runs underneath a light rake or even a stick moved them out quickly.
