When you got Knife from Angela, the Pyramid head got his cleaver and the nurse monsters have knife too, when you found the pipe, the nurse monsters have their pipe as weapon
The monsters are the manifestation of James all along.

I like how his sword actually shows now what it's supposed to be: an half of a scissor. The other half being the other sword that James find and wields, indicating they're both part of one being (considering that PH is, as Ito put it, another James)
The new Maria design into a clearer lens of maybe in this interpretation is what Mary used to be like when they were maybe first dating and having fun before she became sick and their life became centered around that solitary fact. The new Maria design looks like someone you would run into in a bar and flirt with freely, long before the worries of marriage with a terminally ill partner... which kind of fits better in a slightly more subtle way than the original design communicated 👍🏻.

The acting for the remake and the audio is superb.
I love the little subtle things in this game and the original. Like notice Maria is the only other character that mentions the monsters in town. In the original James mentions pyramid head to Eddy but Eddy never gave a real response to if he seen anything like it or not.

The original core Silent Hill games have always been some of my favorite survival horror titles because the Otherworld genuinely intimidated me conceptually. It was distinct from other horror games because the thought of this highly personalized, metaphysical, cerebral hell manifesting as rusted steel and decrepit, run-down buildings and rooms has always been 100x scarier to me than your average, shambling zombies, or haunted mansions full of ghosts, or dinosaurs. This game totally nails that feeling from the original games perfectly. The Otherworld in SH2R is thematically and psychologically oppressive in the best of ways.

Seems Blooper Team pulled a Double Helix Games with the remake. As Double Helix Games were tasked with rebooting the Killer Instinct franchise back in 2013 and were met with widespread concern based on their shotty track record of middling releases(when they were still known as "The Collective"). Then, to everyone's shock, KI ends up being really good. Double Helix were also the developers of Silent Hill: Homecoming btw lol
FYI: James's VA Luke Roberts has worked on Band of Brothers, Black Sails, Game of Thrones and The Batman (2022).

Those legs have gotten every single person I've watched play this. The devs really did a good job picking the hiding spots for them.

Does Max like it? Bc last time I was around for the stream, he was having a hard time with the optimization issues, if he got over that, then I don’t mind jumping in and playing Silent Hill 2 remake then.

The music and sound is Akira Yamaoka and the Art Director is Masahiro Ito, literally the two most important people from Team Silent outside of Hiroyuki Owaku. It's a testament to their skills that the game looks and sounds as good as it does. It absolutely does capture, or dare I say, even enhances the vibes from the original.
I wish Max would pay more attention when James turns his head to look at some things. He misses a lot of items 😭
Yeah, I think he started to pay more attn in later streams, but he doesn't comb through an area like many will do.
The exact same thing happened when he played the original. I think he forgot about that feature being a thing.

Pyramid Head was just trying to flex his form.
Pyramid Head is one of my favourite game characters ever, and he does not look like how I expected in this remake. I thought he'd be taller, little bulkier, and much more bloodied.
Great puzzles, riddles, poems. I don't remember ever playing the original. I assume the puzzles are the same. I like that he didn't even understand the clock puzzle, but it was so easy he unwittingly solved it immediately.
The puzzles in remake have the same concept as the original but some added depth. for example the clock puzzle was just a scribble on the wall next to the clock "Henry", "Mildred", and "Scott" each with an arrow pointing in a direction. The player needed to find a key to unlock the clock, but it had all of its hands
@terrinater oh, that's cool. They added another dimension to the puzzle mechanics. In RE2 remake, they were all the same puzzles, just rendered in high resolution.
I love the new remixed puzzles but some people complained and said they just padded the game when they make you find all hands for the clock.

Legit proud of Max for solving that Moth room so effortlessly. Considering how he has over-complicated puzzles in the past I was prepared to be there a lot longer.
I can see this game having heavy inspiration from RE remakes, but I feel it is much more scary than those remakes even. A damn shame for the performance hiccups. Easily a GotY contender.
Aim for the legs with the handgun to stagger enemies and whack away.

I love SH2, and this remake is easily one of the most terrifying and brutal game I ever played, and I played a lot of horror games, my boy should lower the difficulty, it just get worse after the apartments, Toluca prison is nightmare!

Im 10 hours into a practically blind playthrough, beat abstract daddy and in the labyrinth getting the 3 lighter parts. No health, barely any ammo. Keep dying in stupid places. This game is hard.

It could be the engine. But it could also be the fact that when you get the flashlight, you tend to focus on what it illuminates whilst ignoring what isn't. Your mind telling you something isn't there until it is nice and bright.

I mean, that's how a light is supposed to work in the dark. It's why if you turn your phone up to max brightness in the dark, it's harder to see your surroundings. If I'm walking late at night, I gotta turn my phone way down to keep my peripheral vision.
You could actually not attack during the Pyramid head fight. Just run, dodge and wait for the siren 🚨
I was trying some configs on this game and i discovered that if you turn off the Anti-alising and put DLSS on performance you can run the rest on Epic quality above 80 fps for the majority of time, and my computer is not an EPIC pc like Max. I just have a humble RTX 4060ti and a Ryzen 7 5700x with 32gb ddr4 2666mhz.
The stuttering issues Max is having sadly isn't tied to how good his PC is. Apparently it's just a flaw with how Unreal 5 handles shader and texture caching which causes a bunch of spikes in frame times. Isn't entirely Bloober's fault either

That PC performance looks rough. PS5 was a great time, though frame issues on graphics mode. And 1 very annoying gameplay bug on the very last fight. I don’t remember ghosting like that!
Played on hard for both. That coin slot puzzle…. Literally had to sleep on it haha Thoroughly enjoyed every puzzle in this game. I’m honestly shocked how much I love it. They did it. It’s a 4.5/5 for me.

You don’t have to do damage to pyramid head in the first fight it’s timed. Just avoid him best you can until the siren goes off that way you don’t waste resources on the fight.

It's always interesting to see how some people talk about James, and even simp for him lol, I guess because we're in his shoes. That's what makes him one of the more fascinating characters in gaming. We're playing the opposite of a hero who's being punished the entire game.
And the way Bloober catches how condescending he always is (and "surly" as Mary calls him) is so on point. Like he walks in on Angela with a knife and does a pretty poor job of handling a dangerously suicidal young woman, having the gall to snap at her and say things like "I'm not like you". He's so patronizing towards her during the rest of the game too, like dude read the room lmao.
Angela actuallly gave a big hint here with whats going on with James...

Max, I need you to notice the upper parts of the game. You are missing many items because you look for stuff only in tables and desks. But what I really need is you to keep playing until the end LoL... I don't have PS5 or a good PC (this game does not deserve to be played at minimum or medium specs) so I'm waiting for my own experience but meanwhile I enjoy watching new people playing this.
The solution to the PC issues is to play it on PS5.
