The Mathews Image is a flagship bow with all the flagship features, but designed specifically for lower draw weights. This bow features everything Mathews built into its 2023 flagship models, but the maximum draw weight for the Image is 50 pounds. Using Switchweight mods, the Image's draw weight range can be adjusted down to 30 pounds.

Great bow. I have one set up at 51 lbs. I have a shoulder issue and possible surgery in my future. This bow will give me the options to shoot lower poundage and not have to move to a kids bow or a crossbow.
Set up at 51 lbs and 27” draw I am getting 255 fps out of a 350 grain arrow. Perfect for eastern whitetail hunts. Bow holds and shoots great. Had it paper tuned in about 5 shots. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great low poundage option. Fact is most people are trying to pull too much weight in my opinion.
I'm going to shoot a demo on Friday. I'm in the same boat as you Steve: shoulder issues, and I don't want a kids/ladies bow, nor do I like crossbows. How would you describe the draw/Valley? Is it jumpy coming out of the valley or is it like the PSE Evolve cam where you darn near have to push it forward upon release?
@@Joe-fi2ir I think it’s smooth pulling and shooting. I have been shooting a Mathew’s Heli M for the last 12 years. It was a good shooter but pretty jumpy. Hope you like it. There are other companies out there also offering lighter poundage options if you don’t like the Image.
Even if I don't shoot a Mathews lol I think it's awesome Mathews looked out for archer's pulling less weight no other manufacturer has really made a flagship Bow to do that.. good job Mathews ..I'm also a fan of Mathews switch weight technology good job guys..
I just bought this bow and I'm super excited. I can pull more than 50lbs but overtime it starts to really weigh on my shoulder, so this bow is perfect! I can't wait to really start using and hunting with this one.
The Image, the Prime Revex 2 and the Bowtech Solution SS (all at 50#) are on the short list for bows to shoot this year. The Elite ERA makes the list but at $1700.... Thanks for the great review
I'm an older guy that's had multiple shoulder surgeries, and open heart surgery. Got a crossbow cause I couldn't practice with my 60-70 pound bow anymore. Love this idea. I don't like crossbows. (Personal Preference, I'm allowed) I'm going to check this one out.
I understand. Really didn’t want a crossbow.
From a fellow filmmaker, to whoever is lighting these videos - They look incredible. Loving the soft, diffused lighting. Beautiful images. Good review, too 😂
Just picked mine up yesterday. It's set at 32lbs. Hang up my 60lb prime Nexus after shoulder surgery
On the target bows I've seen that the middle part of the riser is gotten wider, so a normal arrow rest couldn't be placed and an expensive one like the Mathews or a Beiter with extension is a must have. It seems the ball bearing problem still persists, too.
Wish you would set up the Image and Phase 4 at 50 lbs and compare performance.
How does it compare in terms of vibration to the new phase 4 OR to my vertix? I love the idea of shooting less weight. It’s easier to hold back and aim when not holding so much weight.
Oh, and how loud is it compared to the others as well?
Nice triax
If you are comfortable at 50 lbs DW, would you get a Phase 4 or Image?
if I have a 29 inch draw can I still have below 50 lb draw if I wanted ?
I was confused on why this was even made until you said the switch weight system only went down to 60lbs.
So many people who don't understand IBO think this bow will do 335 at the draw weights it comes in. Mathews didn't help by advertising its IBO rating since it doesn't go up to 70#.
It’s based off a 250grain arrow instead of the 350 at the typical 70#
It’s rated for 335 at 50 pounds
Looks like you’re the one that don’t understand IBO
@@nickrw28 ok. What conditions do you think you have to satisfy to get 335fps off a bow that has a 50# draw weight?
IBO would dictate that at 30 inches of draw length (measured, because I've never worked on a Mathews that didn't draw long) at 50#, you'd have to use a 250gr arrow to get 335.
If it does that under those conditions, then I stand corrected. I still say it's dodgy marketing.
Does the image still have the top hat system feature?
Yes
It has special top hats I believe, not the standard.@@LancasterArcherySupply
How much is it
Mathews need to get away from those mods. Quit trying to suck every penny from your customers
😂
Mathews screwed up ,, why in *%&-**-X-*- don't they put these same limbs on a 33 ATA bow like the Phase 4 ,,, just cuz it''s lower pound, some of us would like a longer ATA ,,, c'mon Mathews ,, get your ,,,,,,,,,----- together,,,,, the new Phase 4 with a 40-50 lb, would be the best bow ever ,, I would buy 1 no no I would buy 2 of them , now ,,, someoone telll Mathews to make a set of 40-50 set of limbs for the Phase 4,,,,,,,C'mon PJ you got some pull ,,,
How much more can you do to a compound bow, you're just reinventing the wheel, and price is ridiculous, you can shoot and kill anything with any 300.00 bow.
