I deployed to Afghanistan in 2014 and let me tell you the sound of rockets & explosions over your head is one of the scariest thing you can experience.
how unfortunate that the terrorist US used you soldiers in act of violence against other countries
I was in Iraq (Baghdad, Mosul) in 2009 and Afghanistan in 2011. I agree with you.
Tf ? The fighting was over late 2013 ....
Why did you go to Afghanistan?
I was never in any situation of danger and yet even through the video the sound of the projectiles cutting through the air was terrifying to me. I can't imagine experiencing it in person.
I can’t believe people would voluntarily go into gunfire to report. Props to you guys.
FREEDOM OF PRESS BABY 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Sounds dumb to me
@@trentonking764 truth seekers my man
Pretty sure hes getting paid for his courage/ insanity.
THIS REPORTER AND CAMERAMAN DESERVE RECOGNITION FOR JOURNALISM! VERY BRAVE OF THESE MEN TO COVER EVEN IN BETWEEN MORTAR STRIKES!!! GOD BLESS OUR REPORTERS AND CREW ALWAYS!!
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
It's not journalism, it's stupidity.
1st amendment auditors are in more danger than these guys..
why didn't they hide in their hotel room. So 5-10 miles is considered close?
Why is your profile picture the Google play store logo?
When they say danger close, that is what it means. It takes some huge courage and desire to keep reporting, despite risking life and limb to get the story. As a former freelancer, I have been there, and still kept filming. The gut clenching terror of being under fire makes it really difficult. I've seen Richard Engel get the story in several other deadly warzones, got to give him huge respect.
When you really want to bring a story, do real journalism and find out who is responsible for starting the war. Running to a warzone brings nothing. It's just stupid.
@@tyr3759Exactly. Nobody is talking about how the Israelis instigated this by storming the Al-Aqsa mosque at the Temple Mount last week. Israeli settlers had also been attacking Palestinian villagers and stealing their land every day. The Israelis have been the aggressors all along, then try to play the victim when the Palestinians have had enough of living as refugees under Israeli apartheid for 75 years.
@@FreshUFwtf does that have to do with the original comment😂 go back to acting big and bad behind your little keyboard😂😂😂 real men have work to do.
@@FreshUF The Israeli do not operate on terror, like the Muslims do. Everybody knows that. So whatever you believe or say falls on deaf ears. Worshipping satan will not bring happiness, just eternal punishment.
@@tyr3759 It brings observers who can document the course of any conflict. It can expose war crimes and atrocities while they are happening. Having as many journalists and people to document this is of the utmost importance. If you don't see pictures of the victims, then the victims can be denied, by both sides.
This is why Engle and his crew are unsurpassed in courageous reporting. You guys are legends
more idiots in my book
Don't encourage this kind of abuse of civilian reporters.
What did we learn from it? Oh right, nothing. Other than you and NBC is willing to put them in unnecessary danger.
STOP fake cheering people to bring u content for Ur selfish enjoyment
Don't worry it's fake. They are notorious for faking all kinds of crap.
Cheers to the camera crew and everyone else for reporting on a scary situation
It's not ok to send civilian reporters into combat zones.
US special forces operations activated to free hostages from Hamas in Gaza

Can you imagine Fox News or Infowars there?😂😂 they have no journalists just racist hosts making up lies behind a comfy desk on Camera
Stay safe Richard and team. We are praying for this situation to be resolved.
Give it a couple more millennia and they might have made friends by then.
There is only one way at to resolve it and it’s not good
Resolution won't come about from praying about it.
Richard if you want danger, try riding the NYC subway
They walked into it. Makes for exciting reporting. That’s the intent. No prayers warranted.
As a former military soldier who lost a battle buddy to a mortar attack on our fob. You will never recover from that feeling of not knowing if the mortar would hit you or not. Could you imagine just sitting at the dinner table with your family, having dinner and a mortar was to hit your house 🏡. Could you imagine watching tv and a mortar hit your house. It gives me chills till this day! That’s exactly what’s going on. I sure hope they make it back to safety. You better have somebody you pray to because that’s all you have in a situation like that.
His hands are shaking but other than that he's cool and collected. How?! I would be crying. So awful what's happening.
He’s a man
That's his job
you'd cry probably because you're a woman
Some people just have it
It's called a pair of balls lady
I really hope they return back safe. And also for everyone involved in the conflict to return safe. Lots of love and support.
It is not a conflict, not even close, unfortunately
What a legend. He's still reporting while huddled on the ground.
May they safe safe out there.
What a legend? That SOB sided with ISIS while reporting from Syria and gave them legitimacy, go get a clue.
You're never safe around white people. No way.
The most realistic "the cameraman never dies" moment ever
I can't even explain this feeling! Please stay safe 🙏🏾
That's because you are not there.
I had chills watching this.
@@Mayor_Of_Eureka17 it's so a touch it
I understand your feeling. I can’t phantom how it must feel.😮
I'm from Israel and it's been like this for years, they even stopped publishing what we're experiencing here, that's why we're fighting for what happened to the kidnapped and murdered🇮🇱🙏🏾💔
Very brave reporting and they’re doing it so the whole world can see what’s happening. Stay safe. I’ll be praying for you.
They are all amazingly brave keeping us all informed as to what's happening ❤
Yes, if they're not wagging the dog...as most often is the case.
You will almost never see reporting on the other side.
Tell them to go cover the crimes in Gaza currently and the atrocities committed by the Zionists, and before that, tell them to keep their cameras in Palestine even without war and seeing the atrocities of the occupation in the West Bank and the occupied territories.
One-sided media before the war. In recent months, in recent months, Israel has killed more than 200 people in the West Bank in their raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque, including 40 children. Today the Jews burned a child in the West Bank with gasoline.
I don't know if I have just gotten used to it or what, but my daughter is in Jerusalem on her gap year (as her 3 older siblings and the rest of the family have done), and while she was hysterical calling from her bomb shelter the first time (as were her siblings every year it happened to them!), I just spoke to her to say good night and she was MUCH calmer! We're taking it day by day... flights are very scarce and crazy expensive. But with every hour of every day, we start getting used to it and life goes on..... please keep us--and everyone else--in your prayers!!! Thanks!!
What do you mean expensive? I would go on street begging for money to buy them tickets and get my family out of there ! If is still time …
Bring her home now!!
Richard and his producers are literally the best.
Come home safe. Tears are rolling down my face. This is real reporting, so sad, scary, I don't know these people but are praying for them to come home safe.
@@user-mz4sl5rp5kyou sound nice 🙄
Tears 🤷🏻♂️you don’t know these people look up some of their previous reporting they are SCUM there to sell themselves as brave individuals when in reality they are selling out on the death and chaos of innocent citizens!!! And you are shedding tears 🤣🤣
Thats the closest I've ever seen mortars flying on the news
Thank you Richard and crew for bringing us this scary, yet important news. It might help those of us sitting safe and sound here in the states understand the severity of whats happening in the world. I'm thinking about all of you in harms way. This is just sad and infuriating.
Wow, the danger some people have to work through and more scary, the life others have to live in the midst of and die😢😢 Prayers for this violence to end and peace be amongst all!!!
I really hope they return back safe. And also for everyone involved in the conflict to be safe.
Conflicts aren’t safe. People are going to die. Innocent ones too. And children. 100% guaranteed. Remember when there was 4 years of world peace under President Trump. No one died in wars. But orange man bad huh…. If you voted for Biden you got blood on your hands. Well done for ruining america and the rest of the world.
All these ground reporters are the bravest people. Voluntarily putting yourself in the middle of a conflict to bring reporting. Pure respect. Thank god cameraman never dies…
I feel like Engel has been in more warzones than pretty much any other reporter I have seen! I hope he comes home safe.
That is so frightening. I couldn’t imagine living in those conditions
The Cameraman is always rolling, those guys are brave.
Why is the cameraman not ducking for cover also?
Thank you for your brave service. Bringing us the news you are legends. Long live the cameraman.
Props to the people who are brave enough to go into a literal war zone to report what’s happening when they are not obligated to do so.
Praying for Richard and their safety 🙏🏼and praying for those who cannot leave their homes. 😢
Give this man a raise please
😂 true
Give 10% to the big guy.
Having the brain ability to report on these conditions.. is 5 star work
This man and his team have repeatedly risked their lives for decades to bring us some of the most incredible conflict journalism the world has ever seen. Cheers to the good ones! 🍻
This brought tears to my eyes! I cannot imagine! My prayers are with you! 🙏💙
Well done Engel on re-acting to the alarms and seeking cover. I was deployed in Iraq in 04-05 in the Al Anbar providence at Camp TQ. We got lit up quite a bit my mortars and rockets. Mind you, there was no alarms or early warning systems yet. As soon as you heard the first sound/whizz we ran to seek cover or make it into the bunkers.
Judging by the sounds and impacts, It looks to be a mixture of 82mm mortars and some kind of 100m+ rocket.
Iraq will end USA
Thank you for your service
Bro in TQ they were firing much nearer then in this case we both know where they were shooting from with the 82 behind the river to the NE end of the 12L. Landed there several times with an L-100 ;-). There ain't the range in Sderot for an 82 these are Typre-63 derivates...we both know the sound.
@@lucanton2088 yeah I remember that. Unfortunately all too well. One of the 107mm Rockets hit the Chaplin's office. Thankfully it was a dud. However, several of them hit tent city and killed/wounded some Marines. Our ammo dump got hit too by rockets and mortars. That was not a fun night.

This is not his first time. He's been journaling wars since his early years and was in Baghdad.
Now imagine having to endure this for months and months everyday, also while seeing people physically being shot and blown up. Then coming back to everyday civilian life, this is what thousands of our military have to deal with on a day to day basis. This is an example of what real PTSD is!!!.
