Just in case there is anyone out there who has not enjoyed this band, I wish I was you. Then I could start all over again. One of life's better journey's.
Watching these old videos recently has led me to the same place. The pure joy of learning their body of work was fantastically fun. Each album in the Core 7 was indeed a step in the journey.
The album Days of Future healed my tormented soul in the seventies. Every song on that album has an emotional charge, even after 55 years. Sheer genius band.
So true. Spot on. Tuesday Afternoon : im just beginning to see, now im on my way Understanding that worry (stress) is our biggest enemy & to let it go. No matter what
The Moody Blues are the most perfect band on the face of this earth!!!!! They are such a pleasure to listen to, Justin is so darn cute!!!!! Here in 2023, still listening to them, they never get old!!!! 💙💙💙💙........ 😌😌😌😌.....
This is from the Isle of Wight festival 1970 at Afton farm. To this day I still drive past the field and look at the place and can't believe how such a historic gig took place. Unreal.
All the people that love this song should listen to the whole album "Days Of Future Passed", is equally emotional and beautiful. Is one of the greatest albums ever made You have my word :) Enjoy!
Their music was very healing to me in 1970 when I came back from a year as an infantryman in 'Nam. I was that "Melancholy Man" at that time trying to fit back in to 'the World' as we used to say..I looked like every other college student on campus but inside was 'not the same.' Thank God for this group and their music and poetry...they were indeed at the right time and the right place for me and others.
The Moody Blues not in the R&R hall of fame. They better get there music out and listen to it again. It's simply some of the greatest music ever written. Do I have to remind them how many hits they had on the radio. People grew up listening to Nights In White Satin, Tuesday Afternoon, Melancholy Man, Ride My See Saw... And these days the hits just keep coming... The Other side Of Life, Etc. Let';s get it together and let them know they are one of the greatest bands ever. "Retro Ron" on you tube
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BAND AS GOOD AS THE MOODIES. THERE MUSIC IS TIMELESS. I GREW UP WITH THE MOODIES AND I WILL DIE WITH THE MOODIES TANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT MEMORIES. OVER THE YEARS KEEP THE FAITH AND KEEP ON SINGING.
@Tuy19299, When I visited the R&R Hall of Fame in Cleveland in 2001 they had a display on the MBs. The caption said they "overcame criticisms that they were bombastic and pretentious..." to enjoy great success. I grew up in the '60's & experienced the Moody Blues success as it was happening. I never heard anyone call them bombastic and pretentious. I have musician friends who have told me told me the more they listened to the Moody Blues the more impressed they were.
The Rock and Roll hall of fame is so clueless and so full of themselves it is hard to think of them without getting sick to my stomach. Their snub of the Moody Blues is as good of example as any. I laugh at these critics and the industry. They think they are sooo cool and important. The Moody Blues have composed so many beautiful songs I don't know where to begin. I am just grateful I was given the experience. The big world is too in love with themselves to see it or hear it.
I saw these guys back in 1994 as a result of getting free tickets to a show. I thought it was cool to see a show for free, had heard of "Knights in White Satin," and thought that it was a great song. Knew very few other songs from them. Anybody that really appreciates great music, great sound, and real musical talent would have loved hearing the MOODY BLUES as much as I did that night in Columbia, MD! I had always loved "Tuesday Afternoon" and had never realized it was them!
How the hell did this song get any thumbs down? This band should defintely be in the Rock and Roll hall of Fame. If they can induct a Miles Davis(who I never saw as a rock musician) then they should be able to induct this band!
This is the song that hooked me. After hearing it a few times over the speaker at work in the early 90s. I bought their greatest hits. Then I had to hear everything they ever did. I bought every album but the classic 7 (1967-72) I'll never get tired of. I saw them live 2010 in the seventh row. I love this band.
@skybleau1 Sky . . that is sooo sad. I know Justin and Maria his sister and his Dad was my teacher. Justin is a lovely guy and I know he would feel the same and wish you best wishes too. Ian
Justin's been doing it for more than 40 years and sounds as good as ever. I really wish I'd seen them before Mike and Ray left the band though. Oh for a time machine.
How I missed the Moodies thru the years is beyond me. I loved them in the 60’s & then they seemed to go from the radio. I’m enjoying them now & I’m catching up👍👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
i've loved justin since I was 12 and this is my favorite of all songs...he truly is a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician...no wonder the band plays on....
What a superb performance. Cool to see how Justin and John used their guitars to fill in for the string section heard on the original studio recording. This version is also played at a bit faster tempo than the original and that only makes the video even more interesting.
Oh my god, America freaking loved the Moodies. Their concert at Red Rock - epic! My favorite band ever (overall). I was a hippie back in the day and their music about summed it up for me. All my friends played their music to their children at night. I have all of their albums. In Search of the Lost Chord and Childrens Childrens Children are my favs.
Love to watch these guys perform this so many years ago, Who cares if it isn't "perfect"??? Why does it need to be? Do you think the Beatles never missed a note, 'forgot' or switched up the lyrics? So happy someone thought to record this for us to enjoy 41 years later. I will be thinking of how they sounded then in '70 when I see them this August. I KNOW they will sound as good! Justin has an unforgettable voice
Love Hayward with the Gibson. It was tailor made for this tune that he wrote. The lyrics were also great. And the band was so tight on this. He did forget one line early on, he forget the words "the trees are drawing me near, I've got to find out why." But he quickly regrouped and never looked back.
Always wondered what this song sounded like without the full orchestra. And now I know. Thanks for posting, as even The Moodys couldn't cover ALL the bases. Still sounds pretty good for a live version, though.
Looking at Justin's eyes in this video just tells you why he is one of the all time best songwriters that ever come along! To watch & hear the passion & serenity the Moody Blues songs sound is sensationally beatiful! They will always be a part of my life!
I too am going to see them in April here in Pittsburgh. Have not seen them since 1986 in Hershey. I wish Mike were still with them. I think with him in the band, it WAS the Moody Blues. They are still great, but would be even better with Mike's vocals... ;o)
@@CA-rl1hg I do agree, and David Cassidy was an angel too...but my favourite one is John Lees from Barclay James Harvest, so talented and charming like a celtic prince
This is the best music ever. Love the Moody Blues. Tuesday Afternoon is my favorite song of all time. The flute player has the heart and soul of a songbird.
Yes, he did say "Sunday afternoon" -- I'm pretty sure in order to "customize it" to the crowd on that day -- which was a Sunday afternoon. They are amazing -- were then and are now!
Don't care what you say. They sound good no matter what. I grew up listening to them and I've seen them in concert. They we're good then and they're good now. The studio did not make Justin Hayward's beautiful voice he did. I'd like to see you play a guitar as good as Justin and John can. Some people just don't know good music.
I have heard this song a thousand times, but this is by far the best version, and I never heard it before. Such a strong clear sound from each instrument! The drums are Killer!
I miss these days and it's sounds so much. Maybe because I was young and hadn't experienced a lot of olife's challenges yet, but life was simpler then. I hope at my end I can somehow go back or at least once again experience soothing, peaceful innocent days. But for now, I can only reminisce, that's better than nothing!
ha i don't care for the weed yi, but i am certanly glad to see someone discover this music for the first time.... the 60's 70's were truly amazing musically
I am seeing them Salem VA tonight, this will be my 13th or 14th time seeing them in concert, first time since 1994...I am so excited ! Thanks to my old friend Jay for turning me onto them so many years ago.
I was at this and it still sounds good. its funny looking back and thinking forward to how things became. I dont know why people are so worried about the hall of fame...
great to see Pinder with them on that mellotron his writing and vocals...priceless vid...thnx..Going to see them tonight with my 16 year old daughter to pass on the music torch of the Moody Blues which she loves....chris
Just saw them in concert. As I watch this, I wonder if they even thought of being together 40 years into the future.......you could actually call this, "days of future past".
If memory serves, they never had pictures of themselves on their album covers, and so I loved their music so much - just for the artistry - but wouldn't have known them in person if I'd tripped over them. Just goes to show how the cult of personality has changed so much of our landscape. p.s. Most every man I really loved has loved the MB. It just worked that way.....
Classic Moody Blues footage is pretty rare, and this is just wonderful. And although I love them all, the other guys should always realize that they live in mansions mainly because of Justin.
Preciosa voz la de Justin, de inmediato reconocible... y sus acordes y letras siempre profundas. Guapísimo además ( aún hoy a sus 70 años! ) Gran grupo los Moody
I just saw them last night. Absolutely awesome, even only with 3 original band members. John Ledge, Justin Hayward and Graeme Edge Along with Gordon Marshall, Alan Hewitt, Norda Mullen and Julie Ragins

My favourite group for 55 years.

I seen them live 12 times
Timeless classic and an underrated band for sure…

These recordings from the Isle of Wight Festival have to be the best live recordings of the Moody Blues.
god he has a beautiful voice, musicians just aren't this way anymore
He was as good live as studio.
Justin Haywards vocals are essential to the Moody Blues sound. Being the main singer in their biggest hits.
All the people that love this song should listen to the whole album "Days Of Future Passed", is equally emotional and beautiful. Is one of the greatest albums ever made You have my word :) Enjoy!
yes, it's a wonderful album
yes, it's a wonderful album
Definitely one of their top 7 albums.

101 % agree with you !

Same for me 1969 CRB
Different time different era but I understand brother.
blessings to you their music has meant a great deal to me also
This was a good time in Nam but I couldn't get in a Huey without some CCWR, that's real helicopter music!
my sweet man,,,,apart from tuesday afternoon,,,,,,,,, there is always you guys,,,, knights in white satin,,,,,,,,cos i love you,,,, oh how i love you
Moody Blues will live on! I am a huge fan and i'm only 17!!
I woke up in the barn to my uncle blasting Question across the valley on grandma's stereo when I was 11. It's been a musical journey ever since.
Fantastic. They are a great band. I was 18 when I first heard them. That was back in 19
Best song I've ever heard I'm 42 so they were well b 4 my time too
are vudstok
right on to borrow an old expression
Hayward 40 years later still has the absolute most incredible voice...and even better style.
Incredible. Take it from a boomer. my god.
Hayward is remarkable....
I feel the same way, no one like him ❤❤❤
This music touches the soul and lifts you out of today’s stressful world.
Beautiful. Even with flubbing up the lyrics at least three times. Lol
John Lodge has the greatest hair of any rocker in history
Omg!! Justin looked like & sounded like an angel!!
❤
Anyone here in 2020? This is absolutely amazing, I can't quit watching it.
2023 ❤ same
Their songwriting & harmonies were beautiful!!
Wow! The Moodies in their prime.
You just can't get any better than this
1 of the greatest bands ever , and such a good voice Justin 💖
Yah, I love this one too. This music is so much better than what they are preenting us with now.

I love this song forever. Notice the Bell Bottoms?!! The Blues OWN THIS SONG!!! Anyone else doing it would be sacrilege !!!! TEN STARS !!!!!!!!!
You can't beat the sound of the Moody Blues
Oh how I love them!!! How gorgeous was Justin too!! He still is. My favorite song.
The first concert I ever went to was the Moody Blues back in 72!
This is just damn good music.
Mike did use a Chamberlin on Seventh Soujourn two years later, but this is definitely a Mk II Tron.
Memories from 1970. "The trees are drawing me near, got to find out why." This line always hooked me.
I was just over a year old when this album came out. What a time to be born.
justin's vocals are overwhelming and then you see his pretty face :)
Wonderful performance from the greatest band ever! Great video too. Thank you for sharing.
One of the best bands in rock n roll. True innovators and visionaries.
The Rock and Roll hall of fame is so clueless and so full of themselves it is hard to think of them without getting sick to my stomach. Their snub of the Moody Blues is as good of example as any. I agree with ' littledite '.( Pretty sure this is from The Isle of Wight 1970 ). I was fortunate enough to be there. Fantastic times !

I get chills just listening to them!!!
Excellent footage of the band and the concert audience. The name Moody Blues is a great metaphor for how the music feels.
I saw them live in El Paso...I think the whole city closed down that night. Still the best concert I ever saw!
Justin's been doing it for more than 40 years and sounds as good as ever. I really wish I'd seen them before Mike and Ray left the band though. Oh for a time machine.
Mike left the band. Ray retired.
Unfortunately they have now both passed away.
How I missed the Moodies thru the years is beyond me. I loved them in the 60’s & then they seemed to go from the radio. I’m enjoying them now & I’m catching up👍👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Justin and the lads for some of the very best music and lyrics ever recorded!
91 rap singers didn’t liked the video. Who cares best era best music ever Greetings from mexico
Stop hating
i've loved justin since I was 12 and this is my favorite of all songs...he truly is a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician...no wonder the band plays on....

Best live version ever. The sound of that ES-335 has this very clean sound I love that
Always wondered what this song sounded like without the full orchestra. And now I know. Thanks for posting, as even The Moodys couldn't cover ALL the bases. Still sounds pretty good for a live version, though.
How fantastic were they and we were SO lucky! thank you!
There is no denying...THEY ARE THE BEST!

I thought that Visa Debit commercial was The Ruby Suns, it's pretty clear to see that Moody Blues was a major influence on them.
Ahhh...one of the few Moodies achive video where they are REALLY live...and they sound pretty damn good for 1970 technology!

Hi
Thanks for the comment. The song is indeed from the album you say, but the DVD that this live performance is taken from is as labelled.
Thanks
James
It's just so beautiful.
I was at this, and really enjoyed the whole thing of course. the group seem to have a lot of american fans too, judging by comments
Fantastic Moody Blues live and at their very best!
@PoolsOfBlueGlass I'm 60 odd now seen them a few times at the Belfry in the late sixties -70s only a small place so atmosphere was great , Mike Pinder on meletron Ray Thomas playing flute and Obo live in Brum so have seen them regularly. but 60's was best time to be young.. and enjoyed every bit of it.
