A song that touched my life in 1973 and still lingers in my heart. I fell in love with a wonderful man and now 38 years later he is in a nursing home, unable to walk or feed himself and I still love him. He wore all white for our Wedding in 1979, my Knight in White Satin. The Moody Blues told my story and in the end "I still love him."
Ahhh such a touching story I can feel tears of joy but sad to know that he is not as well . First time I heard this were in the 80s it blew my mind how great this song is it’s everything for me . Spring summer aurtum winter the beginning the middle and on
Sorry for your love, don't give up the lord is watching and this is the hours before the dawn. Peace love all will come in the end. Tribulations lead to consolation of angels.
That's Justin Hayward and believe me, he's been the heart-throb of so many ladies for 40 plus years, including myself. Yes, he is beauty itself physically and spiritually and so very talented as well. Even at 65 he's a cutie!
I am a huge Queen fan, I love Freddy Mercury. I love their music, I love his voice. But, whenever anyone asks me what my favorite song is, I say Nights in White Satin. No other song I have ever heard, can compare to how hauntingly beautiful this song is!
I love this raw performance-wild long hair flowing, Justin singing his soul out. Graeme's drum beating is amazing. Just a classic video from that era. Wish I could have been there. I would have been screaming too. Justin you are awesome
i cry when they play the flute, very beautiful sad song which remind me of my childhood and my present age. all the best to the moody blues........time wait for no one.
Was there, 1/2 million people went quite, as there music flowed out over the island. The sound was surprisingly good! At the end of this video, the guy says "you can't buy what you've give us today" then the crowd starts to erupt and the vid finishes, let me memory fill you in on what happened next, 1/2 million people went wild with joy! I was one of them!
It's meaning defies time... when it was first heard, many moons ago, it spoke my heart... young, passionate, and in love... so too, to this very day....
44 years have passed since the M.B. performed this.Yet It still remains a very strong and emotional piece and one of the greatest thanks to Justin Hayward who wrote and performed it with the rest of the band.
Touches me everytime I hear it - this takes me back to 1967 when I first heard this. Have never tired of this group, and of that voice of Justins! Thanks for this.
I've been playing this song on my guitar since I was ten years old. I'm 50 now and I play it better than ever! I saw them with the Virginia Symphony. 5stars!!
Breaking out after decades of people hiding their feelings, that was the revolution of the 70's. People finally telling that they have feelings and the best way ever is music. Most musicians now care for the numbers of records they sale and how many magazine covers they'll have.
One of the most beautiful songs of 20th century, as "A Whiter Shade of Pale", "Yesterday", "Lady Jane", "California Dreamin'". "Bridge Over Troubled water" and many others
Wow these musicians were mostly in their 20’s the beginning of so many long amazing careers with so much music that made a mark on the world. I miss the 70’s. Best music ever.
Yes all the band members were in their 20's at this concert. The oldest were Ray Thomas and Mike Pinder at 28 and 27. Justin was only 23 at this concert.
I went to visit my Auntie on the isle of Wight and I had to get the ferry and noticed the huge number of people going there. When I got to my aunties home she told me there was a music festival. I went along to have a look and got sucked into the event. Saw the Moodies from the hill top. was already a moodies fan and still am. I was 17 years old.
THE CLASSIC MOODIES LINEUP. Mike Pinder was indeed the heart and soul of their sound! One of the finest in rock and roll! And a pioneer of the sound. Without Mike, we may not have had Strawberry FIelds Forever!
amazing...... a wonderful moment in history, those concerts from 66 to 74 ,...... although great rock was produced after, there is nothing like the melodies of this period and the feeling in the audience back then much warmer then today.
My dad was there in 1970. I am so jealous it's unbelievable. Although he was probably too high to actually see anything of the musicians, but he says he remembers Hendrix and The Who.
@RamblinHusky Couldn't agree more. I saw them live in concert 3 weeks ago and they still sound as good as they did 40+ years ago, especially Justin! Love the MBs!
Lovely performance. Thank you for posting! Love these guys. Sweet Justin only gets sexier. I guess I'm giving away my age. This is my favorite song from back in the days in the summer before 8th grade when there was nothing to do on a Friday night but sit in the dark and listen to this kind of stuff. If you were really lucky you were with some friends who had a joint to pass around. No more weed for me now, but I can see them in concert. I really miss Ray on tour, now.
Love this tune and deeply affects me in a sad but positive way. They gave all they had till their breath run out. Yeah man you just don't see stuff like this anymore! 60's and 70's Yeah. Peace.
Nineteen seventy One I was at the Coliseum in Denver, Colorado. Sitting in 10 row from the stage. Needless to say, The Moody Blues blew my mind. No other group. Could take you on a journey with Their music
honey: I love your posts..you say it all..one day that mist will lift and people will realize the consciousness that the Moodies brought to us. We felt as one in the late '60s and they were great representatives of the vibes that were moving thru our land and the world. We were one with the universe/they took us to cosmic places in our mind never to be forgotten. Here we are 38 yrs. later and their music touches our soul still. They will stay forever because their music and beauty is forever.
Absoulutely adore this song. My dad loves this and always used to sing it to me when I was a baby, so it holds very special memories :) Can never hear this enough!

somewhere out there in that crowded darkness was a young hippie who is now a 63 year old hippie with a B.A. I still LOVE the 60's music
shemanic1 but do you love Tool.I'm 62 and I rock to all kinds of music. Try a few 70's progressive rock, Camel, Nektar, so where that takes you!!!!

Cheers mate...50 years this summer...we'd been travelling in a VW van since May...Amsterdam in time for the riots then the Isle of Wight...
I fucking love you😍
That's Justin Hayward and believe me, he's been the heart-throb of so many ladies for 40 plus years, including myself. Yes, he is beauty itself physically and spiritually and so very talented as well. Even at 65 he's a cutie!

He's 77 now!
Still good looking!
R.I.P. Ray Thomas, The Moody Blues' founder, flautist and vocalist. I will miss you
One of the most profound songs of all time.
One of the best performances of Nights...what passion! Love this song, love Justin and the Moodies forever.
"Oh, how I love you".
What a beautiful song!
Written and sung by the most beatiful man.
Justin Hayward in his hey day has to be the most beautiful man in rock/pop. This song has to be one of the most beautiful too.
9you can say that again.
Agreed. And, he still is.
Shirley Daratany -He beats anyone I’ve ever seen! Very loyal and devoted husband!
anything from the 70's is good and anything from the Moody Blues is even better. I love this group!
One of the best songs ever. There's something so otherworldly about it. Best progressive rock band ever!!
They're not really prog
I am a huge Queen fan, I love Freddy Mercury. I love their music, I love his voice. But, whenever anyone asks me what my favorite song is, I say Nights in White Satin. No other song I have ever heard, can compare to how hauntingly beautiful this song is!

Absolutely gorgeous wasn't he? And what a performance he gave here of Nights. I could feel it in my bones.
Such beauty, sincerity, depth of emotion, passionate intensity. I can never have enough of this.
i cry when they play the flute, very beautiful sad song which remind me of my childhood and my present age. all the best to the moody blues........time wait for no one.
What awesome, humbling words at the end. I wish the world was a little more like that today.
....this song still fascinates me....even 40 years later...!!!
One of my very favorite bands. When I first heard them, I thought it was the music of the future.
This has to be the BEST song written so far.
Wow. I'm 19, and I've been a fan of the Moody's since... ever. Wow. Beautiful song.
How old are you now? Did you figure it out
Was there, 1/2 million people went quite, as there music flowed out over the island.
The sound was surprisingly good!
At the end of this video, the guy says
"you can't buy what you've give us today"
then the crowd starts to erupt and the vid finishes, let me memory fill you in on what happened next, 1/2 million people went wild with joy!
I was one of them!
This has to be the best live performance of Nights in White Satin ever recorded.
One of the Greatest Ballads of all Times !!!
It's meaning defies time... when it was first heard, many moons ago, it spoke my heart... young, passionate, and in love... so too, to this very day....
God... that Isle of Wight Festival 1970 sure had some talent on display!
44 years have passed since the M.B. performed this.Yet It still remains a very strong and emotional piece and one of the greatest thanks to Justin Hayward who wrote and performed it with the rest of the band.
m2mot justin can still belt out this song at 74 years old
Justin is only 72
You can't pay for what they shared :) ....absolutely magnificent...
Why can't they make music like this anymore?! This is brilliant.
The Moody's touched the world with this song.
What you want to be, you will be in the end. So true. I love this part.
I love this part too, Sandor!
Shame that what he's saying is that "just what you want to be, you'll be in the end" is just a thought they cannot defend
OMG he is as beautiful as the song. Unbelievable !!!!!
He still IS gorgeous, and he's in his 70's. Been in love with this guy since I was 10.
Gorgeous love story, that will live forever, like this song.............x x x
Such a beautiful, beautiful song.... Performed with so much emotion. Bring this back
Touches me everytime I hear it - this takes me back to 1967 when I first heard this. Have never tired of this group, and of that voice of Justins! Thanks for this.
I’m 67 years old and still have a crush on Justin. I’ve loved the Moodys since my teens. Such sweet memories.

I was there for this and 69, a different time and world. Hendrix played last in 70 and the Doors played Saturday...I was very, very stoned
Wow these musicians were mostly in their 20’s the beginning of so many long amazing careers with so much music that made a mark on the world. I miss the 70’s. Best music ever.

Justin's voice is soft and lovely. He is very hot!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥.... He still is...🥀🥀🥀🥀.... 2022...
this was so beautiful.
The Who and Hendrix probably overshadowed everyone else's set publicitywise, but the Moodies performance at the Isle of Wight 1970 was sensational.
Wonderful song, remind me of my youth.
This song was my favorite in 1972; if I'd heard this particular performance of it I'd have loved it even more...
Wow!!!! a piece of history!!!
I was 11 years old at the time....
What's a pity that I was too young to go there and at Woodstock too !
What power! What beauty!
"You have to have perfect ears for the Moody Blues & I am glad that my ears are perfect!"
I grew up listening to these guys. We smoked and listened to the music. These were the guys who introduced us to Astral Projection.
Woa. Best Festival.
And a beautiful song. It give me chills! Yeah.
My dad was there in 1970. I am so jealous it's unbelievable. Although he was probably too high to actually see anything of the musicians, but he says he remembers Hendrix and The Who.

The 70's .... great memories!
@RamblinHusky
Couldn't agree more. I saw them live in concert 3 weeks ago and they still sound as good as they did 40+ years ago, especially Justin!

Nineteen seventy One
I was at the Coliseum in Denver, Colorado. Sitting in 10 row from the stage. Needless to say, The Moody Blues blew my mind. No other group. Could take you on a journey with Their music
I envy those people who were there. Such a beautiful moment.
My favorite Moody Blues song. Thanks for uploading this.
