It is a swastika, that’s just the name of the symbol. The nazis didn’t invent it, they just used it. It’s an old symbol that was around in many places like here or in scandinavia and india…where it has nothing to do with fascism or nazism.
This video reminds me of when I was in the Merchant Marines. The ship I was on pulled into Arun, Indonesia. As I walked around the villages, all the kids would follow me and want to practice their English with me. Amiable people and culture.
Great video. It's obvious the children only see a few other young visitors. You're right, Linh. Emma looked like a rock star. That was really cute. It seems like you have learned the trick to stay out of the no-seums (sp).
Me too Emma, I really enjoy the colours, there design nd of curse the meanings and just the way the wind makes them fly, thanks Basik crew, great vlog, hugs for Compass 🤗 The boys like Emma, oh dear, Lihn,Teal ur little girl is growing up.
Emma, is a Star and she didn’t know it, but her arrival brought out many fans. Keep up with your amazing learning skills, they will serve you well in the future. God bless all crew members
You bring up a good point Linh. You should load a seperate phone with all your cruising and logistic Apps in case you lose or drop your phone overboard.
You guys are always a highlight of our week, especially now that my family has COVID, just goes to show not to let your guard down, we won't be going back to Vegas anytime soon! Thank the gods we got our vaccinations and a round of Paxlovid. COVID is nothing to fool with! Sorry for the rant but just want people to know it's still out there and not to be complacent! ❤❤❤❤ Love You Guys!
I saw thumbnail and Emma's picture. I was ready to launch rescue mission to deliver food. Ha ha. The SV Basik crew must have supplies. Like Teals attention to detail giving Dist. Avg. speed for legs, keep metrics coming.
Here is a blurb regarding FYLFOT One of the oldest and most complex of symbols, evidence of the fylfot (Norse for “numerous feet”) has been found in almost every ancient culture with the exception of parts of Africa and Sumeria. It should be noted that in the symbol depicted here the “feet” face counter clockwise, whereas in the more widely known swastika (Sanskrit for “well-being”) the feet point in a clockwise direction. In India the counter clockwise or left-handed symbol is known as a swavastika, and there is some evidence to suggest that in many cultures this was deemed to be the feminine version of the symbol. These symbols are also known as grammadions because they approximate four of the Greek letter gamma joined together at their base. Considered by most archaeologists as having originated as a diagrammatic representation of the sun’s course in the heavens, the fylfot became an ancient symbol of revival and prosperity. In virtually all cultures it symbolised good luck, but often also represented blessings, longevity, happiness and fertility. It frequently appeared in early Christian catacombs as a symbol signifying Christ as the power of the world, and it was used in mediaeval times to symbolise Christ as the cornerstone and the four evangelists. Due to its unambiguously positive connotations, the fylfot was often featured in Classical Revival interiors prior to 1920, and this explains its use in the entry to the Customs House building. (This is on a plaque in Customs House Sydney where the marbled floor includes 'fylfots')
You need to take the tension out of your fishing rods when they are not in use. Just snug the hook up in the bottom islet will be plenty enough to hold it secure.
In Kuna tradition it symbolizes the octopus that created the world, its tentacles pointing to the four cardinal points. It is also used by many Hindu cultures, it just took one idiot to turn a symbol of peace and harmony, it the instrument of terror and murder. I am so glad to see Teal up and fussing about. And Emma is going to be a great Captain. Question, she is getting close in age, will she be going for her Captain's license? And I will never say anything bad about Linh and her cooking, still think she needs to put out a cruiser's cookbook.....just sayin...give Capt. Compass a smooch for me and the crew. Can't wait to see what you get up to next.
The swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism. In Hinduism, the right-facing swastika symbolizes the sun, prosperity, and good luck. In Buddhism, it represents the Buddha's footprints. People need to forget the Nazis Germany use, it means good.
Its an ancient sun symbol... In the old world its legs rotate one way for light. The Nazis flipped it round ... In the Celtic world It takes a three legged form and in the UK it survives in the three legged form of the Three legs of the Isle of Man. Its found throughout Neolithic Europe. I think those boys spy an exotic Princess. Your hight alone would make you a subject of great interest Ema.😂 Remember in Guna society the land is traditionally passed through the female line.. 😎😉 they are money poor but culturally rich and live and work as collective/co operatives. Deeply curious and inquisitive but very independent.. There are larger settlements on the main islands and land as they were given Territory in the face of the threats to their 🏝️ territories.. and their independence struggles.
A quote from The Panama Cruising Guide: "The Gunas are accepting of visitors, they are peaceful, non-aggressive and crime of any form is extremely rare."

While you were walking around, it was like you had you’re own entourage.

I am in Santa Marta, headed your way. Hope to meet you guy, long time watcher.

I typically do. That reel failed and free spools, so I had to put a wrap on the handle to stow it. It's time for a new rig.
Once again, I am being irresponsible and staying up late to watch my fav sailing show instead of getting sleep before golf. Wish me luck tomorrow!!!
I hope it was worth it!
Seeing a woman as tall as Emma can't be a common thing. Not to mention she's truly beautiful too.
Nice video
Thanks!
