- We shot this for Zakk 's band Pride & Glory in the swamps of Louisiana and in the city of New Orleans. In some scenes they were plugged in. We had a blast.

That brings back memories! A buddy and I ran a mobile DJ business in the early 1990s. We went to the NAMM Summer Session in Nashville in 1993. Zakk was in town for NAMM and played a show at a club. We went there and saw the show. It was killer! Zakk was backed by a band called the Nationals. They were quite good! Zakk and the harmonica player had a duel. It was amazing! The crowd went nuts! The next day we were headed back home and saw Zakk at the airport. He took a ride clear out to the end of the terminal on one of those golf carts. He read his ticket wrong and showed up very early. When he came back we ended up hitching a ride with him. We sat at a bar with him for over an hour. My buddy asked him what supermodel he married and he cracked up and showed us a picture of him and his wife. He ran some lyrics by us for a song called Heaven's Bartender or something like that. He pulled out a harmonica and played some licks for a song he was writing. It may have been from Heaven's Bartender but I can't remember for sure. He bought us beers and we bought him beers. He was very nice. I have a picture of him and my buddy sitting in the bar. Great memories!
I met him in a bar many years ago when he did the book of shadows. I had a completely different experience but I was a star struck music nerd that was annoying. He blew is off after I got his autograph. I still love the guys music and have been to a few of his shows over the years. He is a great musician.

@@honkingdonk3981 I completely get that because it would be hard to control myself and just play it cool..and I would be upset if I got the same reaction but when you look at it from his perspective I understand and probably would have been the same way..just I could see how it would turn him off..idk that just gave me an epiphany..we don't always see ourselves through other people's eye..and communications were off balance

@@honkingdonk3981 I have a friend and her brother was a big MLB closer, he won a World Series and played on the all star team. She said he loved the fans but all the attention at times was a bit much. We knew him as just another local but he had made the big time. I am sure things get old and people also have off days and things on their minds like everyone else.

The more and more I listen to this, I realize how ahead of its time this song was. This really belongs in the late 90's early 00's, maybe late 00's.

@@korgeth I don't know. BLS does not make many special stuff. Maybe it's easy money. And a lot of merch. He's a killer guitarist but he does not seem to care about great music anymore. Sorry to say but it's such low quality. Maybe one okay song per album. Too bad.

Arkansas here. Ain't nothin' like the south. The culture, the food, the people, THE MUSIC. Eyehategod, Acid Bath, Crowbar, Goatwhore, Down (and those are just NOLA bands)...do yourself a favor and look up some bands from Arkansas - Rwake, Deadbird, Story of the Eye (that's myself and two members of Deadbird). Plus other southern bands like Third Degree Burnout (from Tennessee), Hog Mountin (from Alabama), Molehill (from Mississippi)...I could go on. All the same, come visit sometime. You won't regret it.
@@graybug-lh3cw yeah, I know some of them. Really like this atmosphere of bayous, swamps and old wooden houses (thanks to Noisey and their "Nola" documentary) . Often imagine myself "rolling on the river" and playing CCR up there, lol. As far as I know local dialect is quite difficult to understand so it's still kind a border for me as for not naitive speaker but less than it used to be.

Same here... was in a farm house in the middle of nowhere the first time i heard this! my best friends dad's Southern rock band had a huge kick Ass Beer Soaked 2000 watt P.A. System the mixing board was signed by many southern rock bands who the band had opened for over the years including Skynyrd. we suddenly had the brilliant idea to throw all the Windows open and play the Pride and Glory CD on it as it was hooked up in the house for rehearsals! Amazing fun times...

what's crazy is this video looks like it could have come out like last year. this came out in the 90's, and it looks incredible. also it's so crazy to hear his vocal on this. man he had some serious chops back in the day. don't get me wrong, zakk still kills it, but man, this was somethin else.

I was fortunate to see them live at Donnington in '94 during the band's short life. Great album, I wish it had worked out better and lasted a few albums, they were a great team, musically at least.
