Thanks very much Jack, losing the video is a touchy subject but glad you liked the stills. Just putting the next section of the track together. Hope you enjoy that
awesome trip, mate ! the track is one of my bucket list, unfortunately only as guided tour possible, .... feels then like beeing a real tourist 😉 can‘t wait to watch part 2
Hey fella, I was out at Oombulgurri in the mid 90’s, drove the track out there from Home Valley. Was working as a mechanic for Main Roads out of Knx and we spent 8 weeks or so out there laying down some bitumen on their roads. We drove a bit of gear in but ending up barging it all out, to rough on the gear. We were there a year or so after the Forrest river came up and badly flooded the joint, the Army had been in and did a heap of work there and got the place up and running, they left some great murals on the fresh water tanks that they built. Cleaned up on Barra there, knock of work and straight down the river..didn’t have to try to hard. Any plane that he had going out was loaded with fillets😁 Always wanted to do the Carson Track. I loved in the Kimberley for 20 odd years with ten of that being in Broome...your name rings a bell some where. Great vid mate👍
This was good to watch Shane, you're a good storyteller. Reminds me of my early years watching still shots with narration before videos came out. That was a rugged trip, you got balls to tackle that terrain in the middle of nowhere, you've got a ripper missus for support. Look forward the next one.
G'day Shane. Great stuff...its brought back lots of memories and you've made me very envious. I worked throughout that area during the early 1980s exploration for diamonds. Beautiful place and was hoping to travel through that area again this year or next year...looking forward to your part 2!
Bloody enjoyed that mate!! Shame about the video footage but i reckon the pics and you talking tell the story just fine...So beautiful up there hope to get there fishing real soon :) p.s Handbags? Crocs? Never heard that before lol
By the time we got home they look like they’ve been through a mince grinder but not one puncher water and sharp rocks sliced the rubber like butter thanks for watching Matt 🤠👍
@@gifted7913 g’day mate welcome to Broome. There is Barred Creek just out of town or Willie Creek that’s good for crab. If you’re chasing good Barra head up the road to Telegraph Pole. It will be on your map it’s about 135k’s heading towards Derby on the left-hand side. You’ve got to open the gate. Get some live bait and you should do alright. There have been some good catches in the last couple of weeks now the river has gone down a bit 🦀🦀🐟🐟🍺👍🤠
Hi Shane, pity about loosing all the video. I am booked to do the tour in May with Jed and Ronny Morgan. If you would like to share your trip notes it would be very much appreciated.
Good stuff Bob you won’t be disappointed I’m sure if you’re going with those guys you won’t need the trip notes they know that country like the back of their hand🇦🇺🤠👍
@@notredame089 I'm sure they do.Hopefully drop in for a wheel bearing service in Broome on my way home. Do you want to share what lures you used for Barra up there or will they grab anything.
Yeah Bob I’ll definitely fit you in get it sorted out B-52s anything gold seem to be the go in the freshwater any smaller under the waterfalls for-sooty grunter
Great photos mate. Shame about the video. Such a rocky place is the Kimberly. Next mission sounds like a great idea. Can you tell me if parts of the drysdale river are now classified green zones? I heard you cannot camp out at Beauty point any more, and that area is now a green zone
Yeah I heard the same thing Trevor don’t know if it’s a green zone just yet as for camping out that way got to seek permission from the TOs before going out that way we know a few people up that way so hopefully we can still camp out there 👍🇦🇺🤠
@@notredame089 Yeah okay cool. Last time I was there we got permits with stickers from Kalumburu office before the long drive out there. Awesome spot to camp and fish.
Good stuff sad about Oombulgurri I know the story .the chap that dose them tours i think his name is Ron an operates from kununurra met him a couple years ago .great photos defiantly my style .

Hey Shane, you can see the mast of a boat at around 16:34. Just thought I’d mention that before you edit your next video 👍
