    Originally from the UK, I've lived in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since 1994 and have been using the cheb rig for many years!....I have caught many trout and whitefish from the Bow river and pike and walleye from some of the large southern Alberta lakes. I think this rig is successful because it does give the lure a "free-er" presentation and is not seen by the fish every day!

    First off, I hope all is well with your daughter and family. You're used to being on the road and not sleeping at home every night so I can only imagine how your wife is adjusting to being away from home. Hopefully all goes as planned and prescribed. Prayers sent for her a quick healing and recovery as well as peace and comfort for all 3 as well as the Drs treating her.
    Fishing seems so small and insignificant compared to kids health, but on a side note I do appreciate the heads up on this finesse "wobble head" rig. I got some ordered and en route. Looking forward to seeing how they work. Pretty sure I will be the only one here with them.

      @@SonarFishing I hope so too, but if not that's fine also, I just enjoy being on the water and washing lures!! Man we sent prayers for your family, daughter and her care team especially! I can't say I know what or how you and your wife are feeling but I didn't sleep well last night thinking about her. No child sure ever have to endure a battle and large hurdles especially at such a young age! I say that bc I've been through similar situations with dad, mom, then coming home from Iraq and being told I feel terrible bc it's non small cell lung in-situ. My world changed, how you look at things change, how you treat people change and all of a sudden things that used to fire you up seem so insignificant. So just know that you're not alone, videos are being seen, they mean something and they matter-even if one person doesn't watch them! Which is a farce bc there's always thousands of views and I'm behind as usual. Apologies for the long message, be blessed and tight lines

    I pour my own lead chebs for perch and pike. With my two moulds I can pour from ~1/16 oz up to 1 oz (that's equivalent to a pinch of salt to 1 tablespoon I think). Use the smaller ones fineness rigging for picky perch and the larger 3/4 oz+ for pike with shads in deep river cuts. Pouring your own lets you adjust your wire size to avoid opening them up on larger 15+ lb fish.

    I use the "cheb heads" or "link heads" a TON for my perch fishing here in Sweden. I have tens and tens of smaller plastics prerigged on ewg hooks, and then heads in all different sizes, and then you just combine the plastic you want to fish with a weight suitable for the water depth etc. No need to have each type of plastic rigged on several hooks each with a different fixed weight.

      Howdy from America! Pretty cool rig for sure. Im excited to experiment with them. My mom’s side of the family is 100% Swedish so hope that one day I can come over and fish for some perch where you are. Tack for att du tittade!

    It's a very popular technique in the BFS world. It does give you almost endless rigging options. Some brands have better wire clips than others. Thanks for the video. Sharing and learning is what this You Tube thing is all about.

    On the smaller cheb weights its very difficult to push the clip in place inside the weight. Best to run the line through the slot in the weight, tie the line to the loose clip, clip on the hook, then snug the clip inside the slot in the weight by pulling the line back through.

    Ive been using this rig for a year now. Those clips are notorious for coming loose and require a harder hook set when this happens. Great video, thanks!

    May blow your mind but I use Zman texas eye finesse jigheads that you can buy down to 1/15 oz with a 1/0 hook. No easy way to use a different hook like with that cheb rig, but I like that hook for the elaztech plastics. Hope they start selling that ewg hook with that little keeper on it.

    • @SonarFishing
      @SonarFishing  6 місяців тому +2

      That’s a good Jighead, and it is a swing head design too, so thanks for mentioning it. The thing I like most about the Cheb is the ball style head and the choice of hooks.

  • @MarcusSpjut
    @MarcusSpjut 6 місяців тому +2

    That you did't use this blown my mind. I use them from 2.5g up to 20+ g both in diffrent shapes for perch and pike here in sweden. It's just gives you so many options in hooks and presentation and perfect for the use of perch/pike-flys to fish them on a spinning rod but need to get down to the fish, and you can also use two small like 2.5g link them together for a 5g wieght that make some more comotion.
    Kinda suprised I don't see more spinning flys used to catch bass are there any reasons or are they just "forgotten"? :)

      I think any pike/musky fly would do the trick, I think you know what siez/color better then me. :) But I would like to promote "SnaggedBro" here on YT and there Jig fly.
      Got me a few a while back and just tried it out and man, it's tasty. Both with a stright retrive or if you jig it. @@SonarFishing

    Thanks!! Now (deep winter) and summer that super small offering could be awesome. Super small ewg hook. Awesome idea. (The rest of the entire planet uses metric system, but “they” are the odd ones out. Lol. We are the country where a competitor tried to beat McDonalds 1/4 pounder with a 1/3 pounder. It failed miserably. 4 is bigger than 3, so Americans thought the 1/3 pounder was smaller. Not a joke - as BK.)

    What do you think about using the lighter weight size connected to a weedless wacky hook with a senko?? Seems like it could be deadly when you want to get a little deeper in grass but still have the wacky presentation. 👀

    Grams are actually a unit of an ounce. There are 28 grams in an ounce, so 2 grams is 1/14th, so slight heavier than a 1/16th.
