"Batman of Route 29" dies in car crash

- Lenny Robinson, better known as the "Route 29 Batman," was struck by a car and killed on Sunday. Robinson was known for visiting Maryland hospitals dressed as batman to cheer up sick children. CBS News correspondent Don Dahler reports.

My youngest son just finished his 4 year battle with cancer. Along the way we met many wonderful people who’s mission was to put a smile on very sick kids faces. These are very special human beings for sure. RIP kind Sir!
We knew his parents & were utterly shocked hearing the news of his death. He had stopped at the side of the road to aid a broken down motorist, then he was struck by another car. He died doing what he loved.
He saved many lifes helping with a smile, an advice... these are the true heroes and man that we need in our days... Rest in Peace... "Forever Batman".
I just for the first time seen that video of him getting pulled over like two days ago..now I found out today he died awhile back..my condolences to him and his family..glad he got to affect so many ppl positively while he was here..world needs more ppl of his type character 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

A community BATMAN cheers up so many , and gives sick kids something to fight for ,,there does need to be more of this kind of thing ,, weather it be Batman ,,,Ironman , NinjaTurtle , Spiderman ,or even RoboCop ,,heck Johnny Depp did this at a couple hospitals in full Captain Jack Sparrow outfit and completely in character ,,,so yes we need Community BATMANs or Spidermans or whatever have you to bring smiles and hope back to our areas ,,,👍

You are still remembered Lenny. You did a service to sick kids and were and inspiration to many others in ways that will never be replicated. You inspire me to be a better person and if there is life after this you are most deserving of a beautiful, painless one. 🌼

They need to make a movie about him. A real life super hero that lifted children. If I was a director I would pick Javier Barden as Leonard and use "At last, sunrise" by Maree Docia as the theme soundtrack. Enough of fictional hero's Hollywood. Make one of a actual real one please!

I tell ya what...life just isn't fair. Period. Look at this guy, excellent human being, touching the lives of children and making a difference. And then his life gets cut short. It makes my heart hurt eternally. R.I.P. Batman. I remember seeing this video of him being pulled over a few years back but I never knew he had passed. So unfair.

I once saw him on route 29, not far from white oak. Those that live in Silver Spring, MD probably saw him at some point. He was wearing his batman uniform and driving his lambo. It was really cool to see.

Sometimes we are so special that God let’s us into Heaven early. I think that’s what happened to him. Those of us left behind can’t see the bigger picture and we mourn. When I think of my loved ones I say to myself “why can’t you just be happy for them?”. God bless this man and his family. I hope they are healing.
