Thank you so much for this helpful video! I recently got interested in the Easy Peasy curriculum, and a quick search for more information led me right to your channel! I hadn't come across Good and Beautiful before, but it looks like they offer some amazing resources as well. I’ve just subscribed and look forward to more of your content. Wishing you peace and blessings!
My oldest is also in 6th grade 🎉😂😊 woo-hoo for Middle school 🤪 It looks like your son will have an amazing year!! I have wanted to do that missionary curriculum from "Not Consumed"...but haven't yet. So, I look forward to hearing how it goes ❤ My picks for my sixth grader: Bible: she has family Bible with us and her own personal Bible reading. She uses a Bible Journaling book from "Not Consumed". She is currently reading in 1 Samuel Language Arts: She is in our local Classical Conversations Essentials program Handwriting & Spelling: She picks what she writes usually but she does copy work Reading: Easy Peasy's Reading Level 5 and some other non-fiction books that she and I have put together Math: Math Lesson for a Living Education level 5 History: Interest-led (so far, Marie Antoinette and Ancient Persia) Science: she picked "Earth Science" from Journey Homeschool Academy Piano: Hoffman Academy Drawing: books from Library and UA-cam videos Languages E.P. Spanish 6th grade and Biblical Hebrew (whole family is doing this one together) Lots and lots and lots of books!
My kids stop handwriting about grade 5ish!!! We are doing church history and holy land studies with my older kids this year!!! My older kids do C.S Lewis on Hillsdale online and I think one of the 2 courses cover Narnia!!!
Aside from co-op days, do u just cover all the core subjects on the other 4 days? What is your opinion on doubling up lessons? My 6th grader is doing level 4 EP LA & Math. Fighting the urge to want to push ahead faster.
I personally wouldn't push ahead nor faster, it seems to backfire most of the time, and/or it may be to overwhelming for the child, but I do doubling up. For instance, my 7th grader does ALL 7th grade work, but also doubled up and does some 6th grade subjects. Just to ensure she understands and gets it. ALL my children have doubled up courses. Both the grade their in, a grade behind (IF needed), and/or a grade ahead. ALL depending on the child, and their individual needs, level and strengths and weaknesses, etc.. We use EP and some other things I incorporated. Hope this helps you love ❤
Hi! Yes, that is pretty much how we do it the rest of the days🙂 We just started back into our rhythm, but as of right now we do science and history curriculum 3x a week, handwriting 3x a week, L.A./Spelling/Reading 3-4x a week, Math 4x a week. Health, Music and Art are 1x a week. And those are just the strict books/workbooks. I would say if your lessons are quick and easy, add another one in if you want. It also depends on your child. I have one that can manage a heavier load than another one 😊 Or I will shorten another lesson and condense two days of lessons into one day. I do that often with EP, depending on the length of the lesson. I hope that helps!!🙂
