I didn't find any cost cutting, this machine is bang on bucks! Enjoying it every single day and I don't brag that i own a Triumph. It's a beautiful machine and yes you seemed biased towards X440.
Exactly I 100% agree, I meant someone I found speaking my voice. I took test ride of both the bikes and simply felt either go for x440, it seemed clean and clear to me if I need that bike, and if lot futuristic and advance needed then directly ktm duke this time is overwhelmingly overhauled and in sub 4L is also practical with 183mm ground clearance and so many mechanical and electronical features.
Writing this post test riding both the Speed 400 and Harley X440. I don't know, why no one is talking about an important point i.e the ROAD PRESENCE. No Doubt the machine is well built and drives like thunder. However the machine feels a bit tiny, which makes it agile and knimble, but a commoner with no knowledge of bikes considers it a normal commuter bike (already happened with me) and it sounds shrill like every other bike on the road. On the other hand HD X440 has a massive road presence, it's a bit heavy but easily manageble, drives good, but oh my god, the exhaust note is a symphony. To better understand, it's louder and thumpier than Speed 400 but much softer than the RE Dug Dug which you hear on the streets. HDX440 seat is just too comfortable, every reviewer has failed to mentioned that. One more point, every one said the fit and finish of the Speed 400 is top notch, yeah it was really good. But Harley too is a well built machine and it's fit and finish is good too. It is all metal, while S400 uses fibre in some of the critical areas. The reason why fit and finish of Speed 400 looks much better is because of the design, they have nailed it with the design element, it's less cluttery and clean. So don't confuse the fit and finish with build quality. Reviewer had used them synonymously and created a misconception in minds of buyers like us. To sum up, if you want crazy pickup, and want to drive fast with max agility on the streets, cris crossing and overtaking every vehicle of the road. Than Speed 400 is the bike for you. On the other hand, Go for HD X440, if you want good road presence and you don't aim to have a racing machine. Better to say Speed 400 should be compared with Duke 390 and RTR 310, it's kinda a retro classic racer And X440 should be compared with a RE, HD X440 is a sophisticated modern RE. Better to say, you should test drive both of these, to have a first hand experience, and then only make your judgement, coz taste and preferences differs. Both the speed 400 and HDX440 are incredible machines. No hate to any of them, Buying decision purely depends upon your personal preferences.
@@yourdad4903 I have finally got my X440, It's been a week and it's just amazing. Loving it to the core and everyone who saw or rode it, were impressed. Coming to your question, it can take on rough patches of road very easily, light off roading can be done, it has ample ground clearance, but don't expect hardcore off roading. It is not meant for that. Hope that helps.
The only potentially major issue that you've pointed out in the sump guard. Rest all are points which felt like you're trying hard to find faults with the bike just to stand out with a contrarian opinion. I've seen reservoir screws rust on new Hondas, yamahas etc, it's just a by product of our conditions. It's quite simple actually. Is you want a relaxed cruiser with strong bottom end and a heavy planted feel, get the x440. Its faster than the RE products and handles much better. Sounds great as well. The speed 400 is any day a better single garage bike in most of the parameters that actually matter in the longer run and has wider capabilities. Things like the speedo console, exhaust covers(much better than thr cylinder on x440), mirrors are insignificant compared to the way it excels at the fundamentals.
God has given brains to everyone good you using it... Everybody use in there own way... As I always say do what you like buy what you like.. What is small for you can be big for someone else and vice versa... I am not saying buy this bike but tiger 1200 or hero splendour choice is yours not mine

Potential buyers should go and check out all the bikes on their radar rather than basing your decision on such an opinion piece. Do make sure to test ride at slower as well as higher speeds. The bikes with strong initial torque make a great impression during the short test rides but tend to fall flat at highway cruising speeds.
It seemed like you were trying hard to find flaws in this bike but couldn't really find any! I have bookings for both the bikes but now I am thinking of going with the Himalayan 450. Harley will loose many customers for their delay in deliveries.
I am feeling vibrations when rev high on right side.. under seat tank side i have put some foam which has helped reduce vibration but leg ride side and tank has vibrations. What to do?

To their credit, Triumph was able to launch and start deliveries almost immediately(within weeks), whereas Harley X440 was launched(1st week of July ) few days before Triumph but deliveries will start in October (that's a long gap)!! So Triumph has a headstart!
Yes, even if Harley deliveries were to start in October, the 25000++ bookings that they claim to have is equivalent to at least 1 year output (assuming 2000/mth, even this is on the higher side)............won't be surprised if many X440 buyers cancel their bookings and look elsewhere.....

I have made full payment for the bike. Done that after looking the bike in flesh and after a test ride. Your this review is totally biased. It seems you are trying to find the faults which are not actually there. The quality of the product is really superior than its rivals. Triumph has some problems with their dealers and the attitude of the showroom staffs but product wise speed 400 is really don’t deserve the nitpicking done by you.
Your observation is top class - they will compromise somewhere for the price. And what you found was, they compromised on a 1 rs nut. 😂 This bike is the best bike in its class by some margin.
look those are test bikes and these nuts get rusted very easily if they are in the water for loner time ... I was one in the first five people in the country to book this but I cancelled it for two reasons A. It just felt small for whatever reason I didn't feel like riding a 400 cc by proportions and B . When I sat on the bike the dashboard look that you get while riding looked like it was missing and somehow didn't connect

There is everyone's pov.. but your pov is not correct.. Speed 400 power delivery is nothing like Duke 390 which is fully top-end focused and not smooth below 5k RPM.. Speed 400 just goes from the word go with a very smooth motor at low to mid RPM's.. and regarding fit & finish issues you have mentioned if you are not satisfied with this then you wouldn't be even satisfied with the bigger Triumph bikes (read best-in-class). Too much focus on the negatives of a bike which doesn't have that much..

in day to day life this bike is fuel consuming since 400cc and traffic engines heat up and for touring its average below Bajaj Avenger 220 since triumph have lot enging vibrations can be notice also on mirror , They should had made better into touring segment like tiger 400c would been sold more better , cause market is on wards to RE Himalayan , java copied , KTM is for high budge adventure . moral of the story Old Carburettor fitted motorcycle were better as bs4 based like Hero Honda Karizma R and Bajaj 220 F and Bullet had the feel in it
I have finally purchased a speed 400 bike. Although it does have some flaws, this bike has successfully served its purpose for city riding.

Both the tyre models have same performance. So don't worry if you got MRF or Apollo. Both are equal.

in day to day life this bike is fuel consuming since 400cc and traffic engines heat up and for touring its average below Bajaj Avenger 220 since triumph have lot enging vibrations can be notice also on mirror , They should had made better into touring segment like tiger 400c would been sold more better , cause market is on wards to RE Himalayan , java copied , KTM is for high budge adventure . moral of the story Old Carburettor fitted motorcycle were better as bs4 based like Hero Honda Karizma R and Bajaj 220 F and Bullet had the feel in it
