PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!
In this video I take you through the programming of a virginized/ reset/blanked Peugeot 307 BSI.
This same procedure applies to other models and variants of Peugeot and Citroën cars.
This is also the same procedure for a new BSI, even if supplied by Peugeot or Citroën.
In this case the BSI was second hand, which I have reset/virginized or whatever you want to call it.
Below is the link that will take you to the video where I demonstrate how to reset/virginize one of this BSI.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
1. This car is the car I have cloned the BSI on a video that I have made some time ago...
Clone did not worked, so they brought it back and I have then reset/virginized the BSI.
The car then ended up on my drive way because they did not new (or did not have the equipment), to reprogram/recode the BSI.
So yes, is the same BSI on the video from the above link.
2. I never mention on this video, but best is to programme the same keys with the same transponders... Otherwise you will lose the remote function.
That is due to the remotes being linked to the original transponders.
I used 2 new transponders, they start the engine but they didn't had the remote set, so no remote can be synchronised.
In the end, when I got the other key, I went through the key learning procedure again and programmed 3 keys... the two I show on the video, and the one that was not in my possession at the time.
After that the remote from this last key synchronised with no problem.
3. I was doing this at the time of the recording and with no instructions...
So not always I went straight to the right button.
I have although, ensure I would explain all the steps I made through the entire process, even when was not recording...
So if you watch the entire video, will be no reason why you shouldn't be able to do this on you own without any problems...

Thanks to LM for his excellent videos. I am using a Planet 2000 that comes with a recent Diagbox and I had to do things differently to get the BSI working. I tried to configuring the BSI through the "ecu configuration and Services". I configured the VIN all the ECUs present on the 307 but couldn't get past entering the PIN code to do the key programming. Planet said the BSI was blank and should be programmed. After some searching I followed a suggestion on another site to select "replacement Parts" rather than "ecu configuration and Services" and choose the option to configure a replacement BSI. It remembered the VIN I had previously entered and I had to overtype a few of the characters so it could be saved and it then asked for the PIN which it also saved away. After that, the BSI it was unblanked and it all worked like clockwork.
I have same problem and I did as you write here but still no luck

Hi my peugeot 508 have volt reading of 12.7 while engine is running would this need a bsi reset it drink bit more fuel when the volt reading goes frim 14.5 to 12.7 while driving any help please

I get "Key Programming Faulty" when I try to program new transponder chip... I'm using the correct transponder... all 32 bytes are 0 and ID 33... Peugeot 406 Coupe 1998 D8
Any ideas?
Did the high frequency remote work on the second key? At 20.23 minutes into the video the screen shows 1 HF remote learnt. My understanding HF remote is also learnt when the key is programmed. Synchronisation is a second step, which only synchronises the remote’s coded signal with the car.

Hi there very informative .I have a question. i have 2008 citroen berlingo 1.6 hdi ,a few weeks ago the rear nearside light cluster stopped working ,everything else in fine apart from the front nearside indicator is flashing erratically .Now have done a bsi reset by unplugging battery ,window down ,side light on and lock button key procedure ,Which worked a treat at first but was fine for a week then started playing up again.Have reset three times which temporarily worked but has now stopped altogether.Its just the rear lights on nearside .I take it that one of the chips has pack up ,can this be fixed and what would i need to do.

Also, perhaps remove and open the BSI, to look for anything that visually looks not ok...

Good evening, ive done this prcedure today but i get 2 msgs from pp2000. One is '' The tool is not supplied to the mains socket. This could prejudice the correct progress of download operation. It is imperative that this is plugged in'' and after went it starts to program the bsi a warning comes up ''wincad caused a general protection fault in module WIN87EM.DLL'' and everything stops there. Any idea?
Sounds like a corrupted pp2000.... which windows are you using?

Hi there, i want to upgrade a Peugeot 206 sw 2.0 petrol with a 206 180 engine. Both cars are multiplex so the looms are compatible. My question is the following:
1) if I use the bsi from the 180, is it possible to reprogram it to allow for 4 windows and doors, rear tailgate glass opening etc?

2) is it possible to reprogram the 180 ECU to work with the original 2.0 bsi and transponders?

You should be able to code the BSI to 4 doors, rear glass etc...
The transponders can't be reprogrammed... the the other option is your best one...

Hello, really nice videos! I just have question regardimg my Peugeot 406 Coupe. After battery was disconected all the lights on the dash board are blinking and wipers moving on their own. I think I have now faulty BSI. BSI is reading error: Communication with the column height ECU...What do you think? Do i need new one or this one can be virginized?

Difficult to say just based on that...
Get it scanned and see how the BSI is... you can easily see under live data, and configurations if the data has been corrupted...

Hi got a non start peugeot 207 I'm trying to program a second hand keyto the CAR in diagbox. I have put the key in the ignition run diagbox go to learning and program new keys I put keycode in .It accepts it tell me to turn ignition off .I do this and tells me to turn back on with in 15 second I do this I take it to the main ignition lights. And it fail I get a message saying no +apc voltage what does this mean please
I have a new, unused BSI, purchased from the store days ago. I plan to install it on a peugeot 3008 which is currently running, but with some flaws due to the problem in the current BSI. Since the vehicle already has 2 keys recorded, I would like to know if even then, after installing the new BSi I will have to present new keys or if I can use the existing keys, since I will not make any changes to the PIN code.

Nice video, very helpfull. So i'm wondering, Is it also possible to access a peugeot 4008 2012 BSI for editing settings? I just installed an android aftermarket head unit. and want to be able to controll some if not most/ all car functions via the unit through BSI. Without using OBD2 adapter.

Perhaps with one of those Bluetooth adapters connected to the OBD... and then accessed via head unit...

Hello, very important question as I can't find the answer anywhere, lets say you've lost a key and you cut a new key and you bought a new transponder, when you're programming new keys you have to do all keys at once otherwise the old one won't work, can you reuse the old transponder during the programming or you have to put a new transponder in every key every time you program the keys? In my opinion you can reuse the transponder but just wanted to confirm.
I also have a question about the BSI, when you order your code it is assigned to the vehicle, what happens if someone else changed the BSI all together with the ECU and the keys and you want to program the keys? I would imagine you need the code from the car the BSI was taken from?
What happens with the code when you virginise the BSI? Is the BSI completely blank then and the first time you enter the code you're basically telling the BSI that this is the code?

Ok, first, yes, when adding a new key, you need to do all keys, and at this point you can just use the old transponders...
If you change the BSI, you need new transponders and remotes... the BSI needs to be virginized first, in order to accept the code from the car... the code of the car where the BSI came from, is not required..
I have answered that question a few times....

What is the deal with those transponders anyway, why if you're adding new keys you're allowed to use old transponders but when you're programming new BSI you can't do this any more (or maybe you can and we just misunderstood each other?), why BSI wouldn't accept old remotes either? I thought you can synchronise old remotes with the car (and new BSI) using the procedure that was on the screen?
So basically to my understanding when the BSI is virginised you're sort of teaching the car the code and then this code is expected every time you want to program new keys in the future?

The original BSI will accept the old transponders because they were previously already programmed to it...
When you replace the BSI, this will no longer be the case...
The remote is also part of the BSI, so you can synchronise the remotes to the original BSI only... after that only new remotes... was a discussion on how to use second hand remotes on the DK forum...
And last, yes... once you program a blank BSI with the code of the car, that will be the code required every time you need to program keys...

If the ecu was new, then just get it programmed... you need do the car pin.
If was used, you need to blank the ecu first, then program it, once again you need the car pin... just Google it... too much to explain here...

Loving and learning alot. I have read all the comments. However I am having trouble with 2 things.
1)The pin code. If I don't know it, I need to get it from the ecu I think. How do I read it from the ecu, a scan tool, and if so what scan tool? Or do I phone Citroen and get them the vin.
2)if it is a new bsi, I need a new transponder for the key and remote for locking and unlocking. It that because the new bsi can't use used transponders and remotes??

Or, go to the dealer and they will supply you with the code, once you prove you are the owner of the car...
At least, is how it works here in the UK.

Hi man! I have changed my 208's final drive ratio and now ECU can't see 2nd gear, and thinks 3rd is 2nd, 4th is 3rd and so on. Is it possible to recalibrate this in Peugeot Planet? Hi loving your video's. We have a Citroen c4 1.6 hdi with the same symptoms wipers and lights on all the time car won't crank. We got a blank bsi still got to program yet but as soon as we connect the battery the wipers and lights still go nuts. Should that still happen with a virgin bsi or will it stop when it's programmed?

There is a certain order to initialize and code the pin and the vin number... if you don't follow the correct order, the procedure will fail...
I kinda go through when I am actually doing it... but from the top of my head I can't recall correctly...
But I think first you write the vin number, then you initialize the BSI and then you code the pin... and then you learn the keys...
But I might be wrong on the steps....

When BSI virgm leaves, do I need to present new transponters or can I reuse the old ones? I did the procedure and does not recognize the keys I have. I believe that these keys were recorded in another car and it is not possible to record again. Does it make sense or is it always possible to use any transpond just by presenting?

A good suggestion is X-prog... but I advise you to research, as there is many others out there...
what a quick replay. You are amazing man. You deserve respect for that work. I don't have any experience with the programmers, in the video for reading the BSI you used Carprog, which can be used for other jobs also, like airbag reset, instrument cluster etc.
Is it better buying Xprog or Carprog. In my tool collection also will be K-Tag and Kess.

X-prog does a bit more MCUs than carprog...

Hi..I have one Citroen Berlingo..I take the Pin from the ECU because the Eeprom of the BSI is corupt, fill all with F on the eeprom and solder it on second hand BSI..I conect the BSI do all the procedures ,the car start but i have no milage on the dash..And there is No comunication with the BSI on the dash faulth codes..Can you help me with this

If there is something wrong with the eeprom itself, you have just transferred the problem across...
Try it using another eeprom...

Once the BSI is replaced, the remotes will no longer work... they cannot be programmed again...
So, get another key fob and get it programmed.
As for the AC, probably just needs to be configured...

I would like to ask you a question. I had to change the BSI of my Peugeot 508. It was a used one so the electrician virginised it and reprogrammed it. Now he is saying we might need to order the new keys. It's push button start so key is a fob. He said it can't be reprogrammed to the new BSI. Can you please advise on this. Can my old car keys be synced to this new(used) BSI? Thanks
Possible not...
It might be that there is a tool out there capable of doing it, that I am not aware of...
But I think you need a new key...
The only other option would be copying the MCU Rom from the old BSI...

@@LMAutoRepairs Thanks for your quick reply. Electrician blew the old BSI so I had to get a new BSI from crashed car. It came out of a car with normal key. But my car has keyless entry n push button start. Now my Electrician says we might need new keys from main dealer because these keys are not working.

You would need a programmer to read directly from the chip...
I am not sure about keyless and normal transponder compatibility between BSI...
Not without checking diagrams and stuff...
Either way, you would need new remotes... as the old ones would no longer work...
So I think your best option right now is getting a new key...
Why would i need to buy the full chip version of lexia diagbox please.

Hi , I'm your big fan. Today I need change BSI on Peugeot 206 2004. I take the PIN after that I make it virgin. But when I enter Access code show message " the build -in interface is blank" and I have only one option - to turn back. Can you tell me what is the problem?
I believe you are not following the correct sequence...
I don't recall now from the top of my head, but there is certain steps to be carried out prior to program the pin...

Hi mate, thanks for all your great videos. I like the way you let us go thru your troubleshooting steps as if we were doing it ourselves ! I can see you get to repair a lot of Citroens. I have a DS3 myself and keep running thru engine problems. You inspired me in buying a diagbox and I just got Sedre and Servicebox. I can see a FA58 code about unexpected BSI resets for about 300 events ! The thing is my engine runs like crap but I fixed it doing a Auto Adaptive learning. Three days later it came back to the usual issue; it bumps my seat every gear shifts as it is unable to accelerate smoothly. I'm under the impression learned values get reset and the engine runs on default crap values. Did you experience that kind of issues already ? Is there a fuse that could be blown and BSI/BSM would not hold those values in memory ? I don't know what to do, usual repair stations don't bother with this kind of stuff and it really gets this car a pain to drive. I would be happy to hear about your thoughts. Thank you. Jeremy

The reset adaptation procedure, should actually somehow make the car to run better, sometimes, straight after the reset, the might run a bit lumpy while learning the adaptations again, but with time should improve and start to run better.
The BSI, does not have a lot to do with engine management, that's is job for the engine ecu.
Do you have any codes on the engine ecu?

LM Auto Repairs Wow that was a quick reply :) ! Yes I'm wondering if it is a simple coincidence given that as you said, those settings should be with the BSM. It is actually quite a new car (36k km). I've done the full learning procedure on Sunday and I could experience some power loss while doing it. After I completed the pedal drop for 8 seconds everything went perfectly and it ran smoother than ever until today. In servicebox I found a note mentioning the procedure shall be repeated as you take battery power out. This is where I believe there is a power loss at some point. The ECU does not show any fault codes but it might be the BSI is the only one recording power outages as well. I just checked the shunt believing it may be on Park position and cut power to some controllers, but it was on User. At this point I'm just concerned about premature wear of mechanical parts due to sudden engine accelerations. The main effect is a lazy engine. As I press the accelerator RPMs does not increase until I press it further and it goes above expected RPMs. And as I engage the 4th gear it keeps cuting fuel (too early compared to the load). If disconnecting the battery resets the ECU I would believe it should get a permanent power, maybe thru a cheesy relay or fuse... I will have to check the drawings tomorrow. Please cary on making these videos; they are very interesting and that's about two weeks I watch them one after the other ^^ !

The pin is different for every car...
You need to read it from one of the module, or ask for the security card at the dealer...

@@@LMAutoRepairs Actually, I saw all your 4 videos :) But still not sure if there is a way to overcome "Blank BSI" (After entering the 4 correct digits of PIN code) when trying to learn the keys (and when checking immobilizer -> blank BSI-yes). Do I have to take the BSI out and flash new BIN file to the EPROM chip as you did in the following video

Also tried to go to "new replacement parts" and then "new BSI" and then F1 ->reconnect and tried again to enter learning the BSI. and got again the same "Blank BSI"
P.S also tried entering the 4 not correct PIN code -> the same message.

Yes, there is a correct procedure and steps to bed followed in a certain order.... but unless I am doing it and looking at the screens, I cant remember now from the top of my head. Sorry...

Hi mate, I have a 2010 citroen dispatch and wanted to programme a second key, however the immobiliser code that wilmoths citroen gave me on the phone is not the correct one, leading me to believe somebody has put a second hand bsi n at some point, what's the cheapest and quickest way of me reading the code from the bsi? Could you dump the eep rom for the code if I send you the bsi?

It is really strange that they gave you the code over the phone... usually they require to see proof of ownership of the veichle...
You can either dump the BSI or the engine ecu...

They do give the code over the phone, the code goes by the vin number, if the bsi has been changed, plug a obd scan tool in and read the vin number off the bsi which will be the vin number of the vehcle the bsi came off off, give that vin number to peugeot/ citroen and they will give u a code for that vin number and this will be the correct code for your bsi, job done!

Well... that will not work here in the UK...
They require proof of ownership...
You can't just rang or pop in with a random VIN number, and ask for the pass code...
They will not give it to you....

I have a problem please in my second hand Peugeot406 D9 petrol , that the Air Conditioning does not work(every thing is ok mechanically) , Also the first speed of the fan does not work , when i went to the technician to diagnose the problem he told me that this problem is due to that "the Engine ECU is open " or " without Code" , means can work with any car !!! , this Engine ECU is second hand , and to solve this problem he needs to install a new software on the ECU, including unifying the code in the key,BSI&engine ECU , How can i solve this problem my self , knowing that i have PP2000 and the diagnostic cable

So the immobiliser has been disabled on the engine ecu.
Codes, which codes do you have air con related?
If the ECU in there was not set to a car with air con, go with pp2000 under settings and see if is possible to enable the air con...
And go from there...

That remote will not work again on that other BSI...only on the original...
Program another key and that's it...

Have you checked that all the other inputs and outputs are the same?
I never did that, so never had to check...
But be careful, it might be more to it than just the injectors...
As for the immobiliser, you will first most likely need to virginize the ecu, to then be ale to program it again...

i have same case. after battery disconnect car dont start and other symptoms of bsi eeprom corrupt. when check live data i see ecu is locked. and i cant comminicate with main engine ecu. this is normal? bsi can block diag line to ecu communication if eeprom is corrupt in bsi?

Yes it can... Certain Peugeots are known for that problem...
You need to pretty much follow this video and you will have the car back on the road.
Remember that you might do not need to follow every step...

The remote needs to be programmed at the same time as the transponder... as they are linked... you can't program the remote separately...

It doesnt give me the option to programme the remote at the same time, after programming the id46 chip, it tells me how to sync the remote and says it can be done at any time and doesn't require the pin code which contradicts what you said

And if you do it like that, follow the synchronisation after the transponder programming, the remote is then programmed...
I have done it many times...
Just be careful, I had many aftermarket keys that the remote fails to program...

No... was the original pin code from the car... it has to be... otherwise you need to virginize or change the pin on the engine ecu as well... as they need to mach...

You need to get a blank remote and transponder and then program it to the car... there is no other way...

Yes, you need the security code from your car.
If you still have all the paperwork, you should have a scratch card that contains the code.
If not, the dealer will give you the code... for a small fee... here in the UK, about £30...
There is other ways of retrieving the code, but will require special tools etc...

Ok, so what I understand from your description, is that you cannot communicate with the engine ecu, is that correct?

Ok... in that case check wiring, fuses etc...
If when you turn the ignition on everything behaves as normal, then it might be just something on them communication lines... otherwise might be a problem with power to ecu etc...
Get hold of some diagrams and check the wires...

I have a Citroen Berlingo b9. I went to make a 2nd car key and he messed with my bsi program it went on SLP mode.
I went to another bloke and he put me another bsi program as he didn't have the correct one for my vehicle.
my question is is it possible to go to the main dealer and make the original bsi program without changing the bsi ?

Hi Imsvvavr, I hi have a Peugeot 206sw quicksilver estate and when I unlock the car the rear wiper activates, this also happens when ive been sitting in the car no key in the ignition so it sort of times out then open the door and the rear wiper goes again can help

Now seriously... check that there is no shorts in the wires... if the signal from the the door open is short with the rear wiper wire it can cause that...
It can be many other things though... check the loom on the boot at the hinge location... do you have any codes?
No codes at the moment, but the boot is temperamental in opening I don't seem to be having any luck with this car
