On the Beauty( within the suck)

💙 4/4/08 was the day my yummy 14yr old boy arrived earthside…he was my EIGHTH pregnancy and despite a rocky start growing in my uterus he was truly a delight after he was born (until about age 2.5, when he became a big brother ;)))
🧿it was apropos that my morning drive led me to an episode of @goodlifeproject with @susancainauthor discussing “bittersweet[ness]” in life (and I apologize as I mangle some of her quotes but the ideology is there!) -what resonated most in her discussion was the notion that while we may WISH we didn’t need to weather any life storms-the facts are that they exist for ALL of humanity and that it is the contrast and duality with “good” that highlights our emotions etC (well that was MY take away at least!)
💙she references the Talmud (I’m all about listening to religious scholarly sayings when they can be extrapolated without bias to the masses;) about “[s]he who saves one life saves the world”-implying that when your sorrow can affect and improve the life of even ONE person it will be worth it…
💙my interpretation is NOT a saccharin-sweet rose colored glasses MISINTERPRETATION of untoward events, I’ll NEVER say (and if I do PLEASE CALL ME OUT!) “things happen for a reason” or “what’s mean to be” or “look at the bright side” BUT I am a realist within my “dreamy” ways and the facts are the facts. So I view it like this: shite is GONNA HAPPEN-to EVERY single human on this earth regardless of age, SES, color, gender, sexuality, nationality-and acceptance of that fact seems crucial in Helping us NOT bemoan the shite with “whoa is me/why me’s” but rather with: “well here it is. It happened. “It” was not in my control, or maybe “it” was, but now that “it’s” done-how can I SUCK the beauty from it and make it worthy of me?”
🧿those humans who amble down this road most nimbly are the ones I want to be with, to learn from, to stand by-bc THEY get that “it” is just it-we can and NEED to cry AND laugh AND accept AND hate AND learn from “it” if we want to live through this world for the better--and if we teach ONE person along the way then the impact will be of value…
💙so today, I’m wishing a happy day to my beautiful 8th pregnancy….
