What you do is teach and show the difficulty’s of what can happen when resin starts to setup, if your new to resin you wouldn’t know that and panic. I love all your little tips and pointers. You give beginners hope that they can do beautiful art for less. Kudos to you and please don’t fast forward love your helpful comments while you work.
    Thank you 💕

Well, if you wait for the resin to get a little tacky, it won't spread as much. You can control it more. You play with resin long enough, and you learn it behavior.
I do love your work. You are good.

Hey Tammy, I came across a young lady that had a problem with a broken stone that means a lot to her and I thought it could be fixed with resin but I know nothing about it really, I just watch you and I paint. Anywho I recommended that she reach out to you on your UA-cam channel to see if you have a moment to give he a bit of advice on how to go about it. I told her about you and your work hoping she would take a look and reach out 😌 I hope you don't mind my recommendation and that all is well with you and yours. Thanks for the awesome videos. You inspired me to start painting btw. 👍

    Ideas for creating geode rocks/stones:
    1) crushed clear glass and spray paint of your choice.
    2) fish tank rocks and spray paint. After spray paint dries, spread your rocks on a baking sheet until you have an even layer then spray with adhesive and sprinkle glitters of your choice to enhance the color of the rocks. Mix around and allow them to dry but be careful not to let them sit too long or they will become stuck to the pan.
    3) grab a handful of dry leaves and place them in a box. Crush them up into varying sizes. Then spray paint them in gold or silver to create flakes.
    4) garden rocks/pebbles painted in colors of your choice. These are found at a hardware store.
    5) glass beads in assorted Colors
6)dollar tree sea glass sold in small sacks. These can also be crushed and painted into a variety of colors.

I realize this video is a few months old so you may not see this but in the paint section of Walmart or Home Depot or Lowe's, they have mixing cups with measurements on them. At Walmart, they're about $1. You can add the resin and the hardener right into the same cup using the measurements on the side of the cup. Then, mix it right in that cup. Once finished, just let the resin in the cup dry completely upside down and it pulls right out in one piece and the cup is ready to be used again. Just a tip that I hope helps for us poor starving artists!

Love this!!! Just another suggestion (it may already be in comments but I haven't read them all! Lol) to add to Dixie cup measuring for larger jobs, I use various paper coffee cups (8, 12, 16 oz sizes) I buy at a small food supply warehouse, cheap! They come in 50 cup sleeves, so I have them 4 ever, but very useful!

Thank you mona. You have to just try it. Dont ty to make anything big. Start off with a small 8x10 and make it simple
Only a few colors and some stones or eggshells. I think what makes people nervous is the time limit while working with resin but the good thing with making this kind of art is you can make a little at a time. I was the same way and then one day I said screw it and went for it. It came out like shit but what it did was taught me what I did wrong so the next time I knew not to do that again . Ty for your kind words. I needed them today. 🤗😘❤

Can you do a layer of acrylic, resin it. Then use a thicker acrylic layer on that layer to make it appear slightly 3D then resin again? Making the unpainted area just receive resin to be level with where I have made the thicker layer that is in the center most layer? Im painting a lion for my son. I'm trying to figure out how I can make it appear that the lion is coming out of the painting. I was just gonna layer the thicker acrylic paint. Then Ive been watching you and other artist use resin. I dont want to ruin it. Lana

I don’t understand where the spray paint came from to
Put in the first paint mixture, did you spray it from a can like you did the gold spray paint?

Does it matter what kind of canvas you use? They're traditional canvas and canvas boards, etc.

Beautiful Work! I was wondering what kind and color of spray paint you used? I can't believe how much you were able to get into a cup and I am assuming from spraying it in the cup?

can you use regular tecky gule??

    • @tammyandersonart
      @tammyandersonart  5 років тому

Yes you can but you have to wait for it to dry first. So glue down the eggshells with tacky glue then wait a few hours till they are dry. That will be easier and I prefer that way but for the video I needed to use something that dried quickly. It truly was a pain with the hot glue🙃🤗❤😘

The only place I buy art resin is at my local hobby lobby with 40 percent off coupon so it ends up costing roughly 30 bucks for 32 ounces so that's still expensive. Sadly the better stuff is more money and it's not fair. We shouldn't have to pay to be safe but companies dont care about that. Thanks for watching😘❤🤗

I live in the Philippines, so things are not available as they are in the States, I go to the States once a year and last time I brought resin back, but not glass to decorate so seeing the egg shells, was a great idea for the geode and brought so many ideas to mind like painting them like stones in the bottom of a stream. thanks for the inspiration. Sometimes I get so frustrated not being able to get supplies here, I don't live near a big city so no arts and craft stores. I get by on my once a year to the States, I have to plan my supply list., great job on this. One thing that works like glass is the hard resin on the bottom of the cups, I break or cut it up, clear or colored or transparent, it works great. Also one question, can I use bathroom paper cups to pour resin, I don't know if they have wax on them it does not say on the box.

Ty so very much 😘🤗❤ I LOVE using eggshells and your idea is amazing. Using the cup resin after its cured. Wow awesome. I know it sucks that so many people dont have access to simple art supplies. Not fair at all. Yes I use bathroom cups all the time. You can use the paper or plastic ones. I did use ones that had wax in them once and as long as I didn't scrape the side of the cup to hard the wax didn't come off. One time however I did scrape too hard and the wax came off but you couldn't see it in the resin because it was a dark color. You can tell if they have wax by feeling them. If they are paper but feel slippery inside then it has wax.
