- I'm going to be logging in on Righteous Fire Chieftain for Path of Exile's 3.24 Necropolis league launch. I'll be playing HCSSF to begin with, and I may switch over to trade later on in the league. This video covers my starter build and my thoughts behind it.

🚨ONE (1) SINGULAR DAY UNTIL NECROPOLIS LAUNCH🚨
I love how people completely shat on the ascendency changes Chieftain got awhile back and now it's near the top of the league especially at league start.
Day 1 affliction, it’s at the bottom
I definitely underrated Hinekora(at the time we didn't know the aoe) and Ramako, now Chieftain's become my favourite ascendancy
People didn't realize hinakora was actually good. 5% doesn't sound good enough to be worth. And the melee nodes and the jewel node are not great. It's kinda like raider only opposite side if the tree
@@dreamcore_gg It is a bit if the old Trickster issue, where it's a ton of QoL that you can get in other places. They really hit the numbers spot on though as until the uber end, Chief just there.
@@xXVintersorgXxHonestly even the melee nodes wouldn't be that bad if they would just slightly buff Tawhoa, or make Tukohama a 2pointer.
I'll test the new Incinerate for RF Chieftain, the guaranteed ignite and high ailment dmg on the new Incinerate might actually make it a decent Fire Trap replacement. Just waiting for PoB to update so I can run the numbers, if my math isn't wrong it might actually be more dmg.
Nice, I'd love to hear how you get on with that
I tried Pohx's version mid league last league and this easily turned favorite for me. Almost got to his adorned level at the end. By far the most comfy map blaster for me, comes online early and its tons of fun just shield charging while every thing explodes.
Will try the new incinerate and tornado of elements once I get my hands on those to swap/suppliment fire traps.
Looking forward to following your progress, Dreamcore!
I also love your videos!!!❤
It's such a comfy league starter I just can't resist it! Let me know how you get on with incinerate/new tornado, I'll be trying scorching ray a bit to see how it feels, but the new incinerate might pair really well
I finished setting up my SR Totem idea, and then came to your channel to see if you had an update. The fact that you took a minute to mention Milky and give us a direction is super nice, thank you so much :)
Let me know how you get on if you start it! Milky's Hiero setup looked decent to me, I can't really play it in HC but the damage is kinda insane at the top end, I think it could reach DoT cap. The Chieftain version might work but I just wanted to go with the tried and true for league launch
Haha love the confession thumbnail! :)
Ty man, good luck on the leaguestart ❤
You too! I look forward to seeing how you progress
@@dreamcore_gg gonna take a while since RL is a thing, but i wanna push it to a point where it's "finished". Then maybe go into flamewood totems for ubers again which is another broken, relatively cheap one
hell yeah man. good luck in ssfhc! think I'm gonna mess around on standard a couple weeks before trying league tbh
based and chieftain RF pilled, im gonna do RF + bodyswap chieftain and cant wait for start tomorrow
I ran this with Scorching ray last league and really enjoyed it. Is nice to mix it up from the usual fire trap. Hope you have a good league start.
Appreciate that, you too!
I think ill mess around with bodyswap/searing after im geared. Tested both recently and quite fun.
ive league starter rf chieftain 2 times now and its so comfy when u get ignite prolif mod on gloves and near 100% global ignite chance.
It's just such a nice leaguestarter overall, great comfy build for progressing atlas the first time
Last league, I ran an RF DD MF Chieftain, and I rarely died clearing any juiced map content, deep delving, heist and afk full run of simulacrum. Single target was not fast, but got the job done on map bosses and guardians. I would just afk. Even naturally leveled to an easy 100. The SRS guardian took care of the rest of the higher content.
Can you share a PoB of RF DD CF for 3.24?
Have you tested if for example a scorching ray totem by itself will trigger the Ramako, Sun's Light effect? Or does it have to be the player?
The character must be stationary
Yeah, i was thinking I'm the only one chieftain lover , so happy to see I'm not alone 😂. Even before the rework was my favorite, also was my first ever character who get to lvl 100 by himself without any issues , anyway after the rework chieftain got more people to loke at the class. When you mentioned about scorching ray totem in the podcast I was like 👍 nice dreamcore is cooking something 😂 , and started to check all viable options to league start it too 😂😂
Chieftain was also my first level 100 character, back in Heist league
Been using this with fire trap the damage is fine the map speed is good what it lacks is Physical defense. You may have to get the endurance charge passives till you get really good armour. but acts 1-10 is a breeze. Follow Phox guide for the most part.
However it does give alot of movement which is important to get out of the way for those Nastier attacks.
Weird question: I notice you (and Jungroan) have a different font on you item drops. Any idea why that is?
You can change the in-game font if you wish, some prefer it to make it more visible: ua-cam.com/video/NuJc95wGsZg/v-deo.html
I've got a random question for you. Do you think that Herald of Ash is underrated for RF chief? It kinda helps your prolif early on, when you don't have ignite chance and alone scales fire trap dmg almost as good as skitterbots. Just looking for more justification to see those beautiful MTX explosions 😁
If you can fit it in early on, I don't see too much of a problem. The issue is actually fitting it in really
I'm starting as a templar but looking forward to working on a mana forged arrow hirophant as my end game goal
Gonna be a whole lot of mana stacking Hierophants this league!
Did something change with Bodyswap? that build looked really fun.
Nope, it's still good, I just prefer shield charge gameplay pretty much
I know it's been 2 weeks but I was wondering did u ever make a video on your opinion of flame wood totems? I'm thinking of trying ssf and flame wood totems seems like a good build for bossing that can map with explosions and I saw u made a video on doing it in hcssf so it must be viable for ssf while being relevatively tanky?
Flamewood is a decent ssf starter build yes, but it's a bit clunky.
The ignite version of the build is typically better for mapping, while the hit version using Black Zenith is a very strong budget bosser. Occasionally you'll come across monsters or map bosses that won't interact much or at all with the totems(they don't hit it, so flamewood doesn't proc) - this is one of those things that can become quite frustrating with the build.
I've played it twice at league start(in 3.22 and 3.23) and I probably wouldn't choose it again as a starter as I feel the standard RF chieftain is better in almost every aspect.
@@dreamcore_gg appreciate the response. Personally rf's single target is so abymal that I could never play it again due to its lack of diversity of content that it can tackle. Have you ever tried using penance mark for flame wood totems?
Else would you know any good hcssf builds that are tanky with the ability to boss and map? (and maybe even do sanctum?), I know I might be asking for a build that just doesn't exist lol but I'm currently searching for something that I can play in ssf and use that knowledge for trade leagues in the future
I will also ask was there a reason why you league started it again after 3.22 if the build was this clunky? Is it just because in 3.22 when u leaguestarted it, the skill was bugged so u felt like you should give it another go?
@@mas0ny149 Yeah exactly, it was bugged in 3.22 so I felt like I didn't give it a fair shake and I also didn't have time to prep for 3.22's launch so going with something I knew already made sense. Penance Mark is gone from the game sadly, but yes in 3.23 this was a nice addition to the build. RF's damage(especially chieftain RF) is pretty poor, it's basically a pure mapping build.
I can recommend EA ballista champion(Ziz has a great guide that he keeps updated for every league). This league and presumably in future leagues you'll be able to play Archmage with any decent ability and this is going to be good in HCSSF(right now you can use Ice Nova of Frostbolts, Chain DD etc. just needs to be a skill with good damage effectiveness for value with Archmage), plenty of guides up for those builds already. If you prefer something more facetank style, Dual Strike of Amidexterity Juggernaut is quite strong right now, can scale extremely well with specific loot(Frostbreath, Paradoxica etc.)
@@dreamcore_gg thanks for the response. I actually played ea champ in crucible and it felt pretty miserable from a dps standpoint (and delayed damage also felt awful haha) but I might then try ea elementalist instead since I heard it has a lot more of a damage ceiling. I try to avoid using transfigured gems so regarding archmage are u familiar with any variants of it that don't use transfigured gems? Same goes for dual strike of am as it's a trans gem so I probably won't bother with it haha.
Again Im sure u are really busy so I really appreciate you taking ur time to answer my questions :)
@@mas0ny149 EA elementalist is unfortunately very squishy, but yes it deals far more damage than champion. Archmage is great with standard ball lightning. Jugg can use boneshatter just fine through progression and farm for the trans dual strike to switch later on
Is the bodyswap rf build a no go?
It's fine actually, I just found I preferred the playstyle of shield charge over bodyswap. I don't think bodyswap being zdps really matters since any secondary skill you choose (bodyswap/fire trap/SR) is going to be somewhat similar. I think fire trap is still the superior damage choice though unless bodyswap explodes a high life spectre corpse
Doing generic mana stacker to start. Have never done it before.
I am not sold on the league, but will make an attempt. I actually like the challenge rewards, unfortunately. Otherwise, I'd be more likely to just do some casual standard, because the atlas/uber boss changes are what interest me most.
Normally I play SSF, but definitely just SC trade for me this time. I've played so much PoE these last few leagues, idk how long I'll last. Other games are so surprisingly enticing right now too.
I think I will also try a mana stacker later in the league, new archmage looks awesome. I hope the league surprises you and you enjoy it!
well, i most likely go for pohx rf aswell, but i am also interessted in coc dd because i always wanted to play dd but 2 button playstyle is to annoying for me nowadays (5 flasks pre orbs, 2 active spells, movement skill, utility/curses pre trigger wep) adds up rather quick if you have to press that much for a few days with few hours per day
Rue's CoC DD Inquis will be a great starter for sure, that build looks great
pohx approved
“Tanky” in 3.24 is nearly immortal. Everything is turned up to 11 on the damage front. It’s almost tiring
Funny that you and sirgog, the two best creators for experienced players, are both starting the same build!
You love to see it!
zzz
:p jk gl dude! Looking forward to the stream with Tri.
What is your opinion on Phoxs POB compared to your bodyswap version from last league? I have been looking at both and pohx just seems rather squishy in the non adorned version with not that much more damage to show for it compared to the bodyswap version you posted last league. (not looking to start any arguments just curious)
The adorned version is obviously very strong, and likely the best version of rf on chieftain and with the high budget that comes with it too. I think bodyswap can be fine, it's a bit clunky and I found that I preferred shield charge in the end, but bodyswap has a pretty big advantage over fire trap in that it can explode corpses and will sometimes do much higher damage in the right circumstances. My version was made with HC in mind, while I believe Pohx typically plays SCSSF so a bit less defense is totally fine. Overall I'd just say that they each have their advantages, bodyswap will sometimes deal considerably more damage, but fire trap is more consistent damage.
@@dreamcore_gg Thanks for replying I guess I will try the bodyswap out since I have play firetrap before and switch if necessary the builds are similar enough...
I was also looking at bodyswap of sacrifice either with an autocast stone golem or stone golem of hordes to get better dmg consitency compared to corpses but it seems like overcoming the 50% less dmg with ailments is basically impossible and the numbers are to low overall even with signifcant minion health.
@@chidori0117 We'll have to wait and see which spectres are available from Necropolis(I believe they said there are new spectres) if any are like the Dark marionettes from Affliction, then Bodyswap of Sacrifice will be a great build again
Bro, i remember playing RF like in the last League, and i was good Sustained damage, Good pool of life, good armour, good resis 90% all capped. Huge damage. Good Times. But they killed the damage input by waaay to much. Dps going from 1million, to literally 200k. Same gear, nerfed gem. I want to try it again in this new league, but idk, seems way weak to me.
Tatiantel2 has scorching ray totem guide too and he is the totem king so you can trust if he says it's already a viable build :)
Tati is great, but I don't see a scorching ray build on either of his spreadsheets?
@@dreamcore_gg oh shit you are right maybe he didn't feel like it's good enough for a guide, he showed his scorching ray char from like one or two leagues ago the other day and said it's actually a really good skill but losing the cast speed helm enchantment and the change to the base gem quality made it a bit weaker and he hasn't tried the trans gem yet
It's not for league start but what about stealing the besetker rage node and using the new helmet to boost the scorching ray and make you immortal via berserk?
Maybe even with incinerate or firestorm.
Sounds spicy, I can't wait to see some of the builds people come up with with that helmet
immortal? Why?
@@gregorioricouz6612 90% all res, high health Regen, mind over matter, probably some phys conversation, berserk, infused channeling, avg+ armor and more
Love ur content dude, help me out with my starter idea, thank you🥰 (PD: would love a good filter for early game for this build, even tho gearing is generic)
I can fully recommend Pohx's filters, both should be updated by launch: www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/Pohx/item-filters
Ya soon as I seen Pohx playing this I have been as well and I just started well been playing off an on for year but I been playing HC SSF know an let me tell ya Im in love. Im going try what you doing with that flam beem see whats up
My heart broke a little after they announced that the warcry stuff was a "bug". Was determined and insane enough to start meele slam but oh well rage cleave it is then ^^
Yeah, I was just disappointed really, the whole change to that gem and removal of CTA keystone kinda just leaves melee at a loss
Is it good at campaign? Thanks.
Like he said in the video the build is very easy to get going during the campaign. It might not be the fastest but it's very smooth and easy to play.
Yes, very smooth campaign progression
Thanks guys
Omg i always mis-read the sun light ascendency as - 20% res. Not is -20% that made it a lot better. Still trash against end game boss thou😂
I love the rework of the chief, also the rework of the trickster... both had the unsuspecting people crying... both are now my favorite classes and very popular in the whole community... just another beat against cry baby and lets newbies know that GGG know what they are doing.
How does your up not drop to 1
RF is x amount of fire damage per second, if you resist most of that and have enough health regen you out pace the damage.
I'm starting Slayer shockwave cyclone for memes in SSF
Solid starter!
Sad no Slam builds with Chief. :(
So Call to Arms won't use all of the linked warcries at the same time but instead will use them in sequence? (sorry for the bother, just can't seem to find the "nerf" info)
Bodyswap chief?
It works, I just found I preferred the playstyle of shield charge over bodyswap. I don't think bodyswap being zdps really matters since any secondary skill you choose (bodyswap/fire trap/SR) is going to be somewhat similar. I think fire trap is still the superior damage choice though unless bodyswap explodes a high life spectre corpse
Funny to see people trying SR totems after I did it last league because I was bored. Doesn't really work. It's funny... but not very effective. Went to level98 on a heiro.
Chieftain SSF enjoyers LOGIN
Hell yeah lets goooooooooooo!
i really wanted to do something stupid like a fire trap comfy chieftain or whatever......but spell and trap nodes are soooo far away i just cant get started on how to even travel there XD@@dreamcore_gg
Still trying to make a body swap chieftain viable
RF/Bodyswap Chieftain is fine, I just found that I preferred the playstyle of shield charge
I let the spinner chose what CHIEFTAIN build i would go, BZ/Flamewood totem won =D~~
Still i wanna try mana stacker even if 50% of people will play this. I got no problem with making money and crafting gear. Only weak player will suffer by playing mana stacker i cant wait to see Mjölner for 30 div.
Mana stacker league it will be!
No way that many people play it. Mana stacker has been the best build for over four leagues in a row, and wasn't that popular. Mjölner isn't even the strongest version.
Dont tell lance xdd
Thumbnail was just for Lance 🤣
Can't get away from using elementalist with RF, still a good tanky node it can give you, TONS of area and the best damage of any class.
