Thank you for the useful video. I’m wondering if you use the latest version of this software to simply do a MKV to .h264-MP4 conversion if there will be any loss of quality if you just use the default settings? I got tired of Handbrake as I always felt that there was a loss in image quality.

I started using Shutter Encoder software today to encode high quality video files down to a smaller size. I find that it produces amazing results as far as the video quality is concerned when I set it to variable bitrate, max quality and two pass. However the audio quality leaves much to be desired no matter what level I set the audio bitrate at. I am thinking that the problem here is that the VBR setting only applies to video and not audio? Is there a way to set the program to encode the audio in VBR as well? I should point out that the the source file's audio is 384 kbps AC3 and I'm trying to compress it down to 120 kbps AAC.
Hi Chris, I appreciate your section on converting VFR to CFR as I've been looking for how to handle this on my project. Just so I understand though (because in your video you trimmed the output file) - if you had left it as is, would the clip duration have changed at all by using this "conform" feature? If so, I'm assuming this would eventually create syncing problems if trying to match it to the audio portion captured separately of a musical performance? Or would it? If so, how quickly would the changed duration start showing that the video is starting to lag (or be ahead of) the audio capture? When I shot my drum footage, I didn't realize my phones would be deviating from 23.976!

If you're already planning to convert to a codec like prores and have the space to manage the file sizes, save yourself a step and shoot in that format. The thing is, unless you're finishing a high-end product that will be broadcast, released in theaters, or go through heavy VFX, there's nothing wrong with shooting in a long gop format.
Does this work the way keepvid and y2mate use to work?
I'm not familiar with those programs, sorry!
Does this work with any Video Editor Software
It’s a standalone application.
Very informative
Thanks so much, bro.
I have a ...RSV video FILE ... and i'm trying to recover my file buy sadly no way to bring it alive... if anyone has an idea i appreciate it.... thanks
anyone firgure out how to make quality Webm videos from this? I use MOV files with Alpha channel and export out of shutter using max quality and it makes the text look jagged and the quality is not great. Doesn't matter what bit rate I throw at it. I tried putting CQ at best. no matter what I do the text always looks pixelated
can it convert youtube films?
Yes it can
I used it to convert a .ts video 574 MB to h.264 mp4 but it become 5.69 GB Why the size becomes very big like this and also takes along of time
Please I am waiting for the answer and solution
Hi Mohamed. The speed of the conversion is entirely dependent on how good of computer you're using. Hardware acceleration can help. As far as file size, you'll need to adjust the video's scaling and bit rate to modify the final file size. See here: ibb.co/WpSK1fB Good luck and thanks for your patience.
Thanks ❤❤
Can this convert UA-cam to mp4?
It can, but this is a better option for that: www.4kdownload.com/products/videodownloader/
Thank you so much!
What's the best free software for encoding and compressing audio separately using variable bitrate?
Seems to be Mediacoder. I've been using it for about a decade and for some reason no other software has ever come close to what it can do.
@@Moker49
Is this only for audio or does it encode video files as well? I would like the option to be able to compress files to a specific size and bitrate like Shutter Encoder offers but in variable bitrate instead of constant bitrate.
@@SK-qu4wo Yes. It can do anything imaginable with audio and video, including variable bitrate.
@@Moker49
Wow thanks a lot man! I going to download it and check it out now.

What setting do you normally put the Denoiser at when compressing video files? I set it to "disabled" because I don't want it removing grain or detail from the video.
just curious ... i currently use handbrake.
what makes this software better than handbrake?
I’m a big fan of Handbrake too, but I like that Shutter can go straight from MKV to Prores. That’s something Handbrake can’t do. It’s also got a laundry list of other features that Handbrake doesn’t.
What are those features? I'm very curious 🥺
@@AhmedThahir2002 I cover a lot of them in the video, so please watch if you haven't. Otherwise here's some documentation from the developer:
www.shutterencoder.com/en/#functions
tried downloading this and windows wouldnt let me run it for risk of virus 🤔
All that means is the developer isn’t registered with Microsoft - a yearly fee for them. You can tell Windows to install anyway via the more info button on that warning. Feel free to scan it with a virus scanner. So long as you download from the shutter encoder website, it’s legit.
Thanks a lot for this valuable video, and never ever record on a big screen again. 😅
IS NOT WORK THIS SOFTWARE FOR ME 14.9
I TRY PRORES H264 DNxHD just error
my gpu gtx 770 w10 pro 20h2
I'm sorry to hear that! It may be your source media or your system. There's a lot of variables there. Reach out to the developer as he might be able to better assist.
Will this software work with .vob files?
Not sure, maybe? Check out the website or just download and give it a shot!
Recommend a lightweight video format conversion software: Aicoosoft video converter
I don't recommend. Only allows 1/3 video conversion before $$.
@@banshee107 I bought a one-year plan, it is quite convenient to use, and Windows and Mac versions can be used.
