Actually, the Father never posted the video online. The girl herself showed the video to her friends and one of her friends downloaded the video onto her phone and posted it online.

she was bullied. he broke her guitar and burned her clothes. made her go to school in boys clothes after butchering her hair. he made her drop out of running for president, which is a really positive thing and further more he asked the administrators to inform everyone that she was no longer running for president and they complied. so many things that are special to an individual, especially a teenager, were taken away. she was shamed over a photo of her in leggings and a sports bra and shamed into believing she would never live it down by her father. this was not about just fucking hair. I do believe her father had a very large impact on her decision. I realize she wrote 8 letters and one was to her father and she did convey love but most kids who are severely abused still love their parents, at least when their kids, and she was such a sweet girl. truly. probably the only person who has ever been on UA-cam and had ONLY nice things to say. in the video she wasn't angry, she wasn't screaming or crying. I don't think her calm, scared, empty behavior was a direct result of what he did. she was a sweet girl and her father not only shamed her but did something horrible to a teenage girl and took away so much that was special. she was a beautiful, smart, sweet girl who deserved better. a year later, I'm still heart broken and I never even knew her. I wish it didn't happen, it's shocking but she just had too much and was young and didn't ever see escape so she bolted out of a car and jumped off a bridge.

Christopher Wells this was overkill. every teenage girl is gonna do some shit. you really think this was appropriate? a 13-year-old's self esteem is already the most fragile thing on the freaking planet and he pushed it over the edge. this wasn't her fault, he's just a shitty parent.

13 year old girls go through hell in and out of school with studying friends bullies they should'nt be scared to go home or talk to their parents but I'm some cases it is just to heart bteaking. the only thing some people care about is the money and attention not the poor children. I say if you can't treat your child any better keep your darn legs closed and men use protection.

My friends mom cut her hair completely bald in 5th grade because the teacher told her mom that she wouldn't stop playing with it in class. I think if she was a little bit older she definitely would have killed herself. She cried everyday at school, her eyes were always red and she always looked so depressed. That same teacher felt so bad for her she allowed her to wear a hat for the whole year. I don't understand why parents do such petty and ignorant things. Public shaming is disgusting especially of a parent doing it to a child.

The irony that I find in all of this is, in the video you hear the father say "was it worth it??" Now that all of this has happened and his daughter committed suicide, I now want to ask him "was it worth it?" My thing is it wasn't just the loss of her hair it was the fact that her father posted it online to further embarrass her after cutting her hair which lead to bullying in school. If her father never made that video and if father getting her hair cut that girl found other alternatives to style her hair until it grew back then maybe she would not have committed suicide. Well that's just my take on things. I hope you understand my point of view. Again love your videos @lovelyti!!

+FaZe Cat realest comment ever i always felt like my mom or grandma or anyone as an legal guardian in my family understands me yet they say they dont like when i hide things from them and that i should open up to them...but how can i open up if u dont even know half the shit that goes through my head that u wont understand for sure ? plus i have trust issues with opening up to them about things i just do, because i know my mom and judgement comes in a lot ik for a fact shes gonna make a bad comment about it.... is it bad i have trust issues with them ?

    • @fazecat2620
      @fazecat2620 8 років тому +18

Nina Edwards I can't say if it's bad or good to have trust issues with your parents, but you're not the only one. I too have trust issues with my parents because if I ever get bullied or something they're always on the others side, never on my side, they always blame me, I'm always the brat in my family tree. I always hide things from my family and my mom gets really pissed at me if I don't open up, but i know she's not on my side anyways, so why open up? When I look sad and don't tell my parents what's happening, my dad would REALLY get pissed at me and hit me... I live in a very stereotypical family about girls, always have to look happy has to have a clear face, has to stand up straight to " show the body" I mean, the what fuck mom, I'm not a lamborghini, I'm not perfect, and I have to skinny with long hair, but I'm the exact opposite, I'm chubby and I don't really care cause my weight isn't THAT bad, I've always wanted short short hair, I'm kinda hunched back, my forehead has acne and my face expression is always depressed... I just can't escape my family now. But I know they still love me.

THAT'S ABUSE!! i get there's emotional abuse too but i'm sorry when i hear abuse i think of beat down children not shamed kids. anyway i do get what you're saying this stuff rarely works people are just ridiculous

While I do hope she rests in peace, I am kind of glad that this has gained media attention to show parents what this type of punishment really does to their kids. Public shaming to me is never the answer. We've heard stories of children killing their parents, children getting bullied/killed because of a video of them being disciplined, parents and guardians going to jail for beating their kids on camera, and now the worst that could possibly happen, the children are killing themselves. My only question is all for what? To prove some sick point, there has been no positive outcomes of this type of punishment and it could end very tragic as we have all seen many times. Is your child getting bad grades in school really worth tearing a family apart just for online validation and media attention? I think folks need to wake up and realize that just because this may work for some people, it 9 times out of 10 won't work for you. There are many ways to discipline children, this shouldn't be one of them. #PutTheCameraDown

The video of him cutting her hair was hard to watch, it wasn't funny. It seemed like he was showing off for the camera. This story really hit a soft spot with me. She was so beautiful, and had her whole life ahead of her. You're right Ti, her parents were probably just punishing her for misbehaving instead of really looking into WHY she was misbehaving. Now that father/stepfather is going to have to live with that for the rest of his life. I can only imagine how the grandmother feels having witnessed that. May this beautiful girl rest in peace.

My mom would take us to the salon and we'd get the perm and then we'd get our hair tight curled, so our hair would look like Sophia Pettrilo's from Golden Girls. I'd play with my hair, try and undo the curls and just play with my hair because that's what little girls do.
So that would piss my mom off.
I think the other time was that they spent too much time and money dealing with our hair, perming it, braiding it, washing it, etc . So they shaved it all off.

people need to learn the word EMPATHY. empathy is far more important than sympathy. empathy helps people to learn how to get over themselves, and helps people understand you are never the only one that has suffered and makes mistakes. if people used more EMPATHY than sympathy things like this would never happen. look up the difference, and apply it to your lives, everyone will appreciate it. thank you.

Yeah ..and kids starve in africa..and have no parents and live on their own and have to live with abusive aunts and uncles ,who sometimes sexually or mentally or physically abuse them..bit do they kill them selves ..noo..it's cause they are not weak little brats ..broke is better..it seems to me poor people or poorer people have better quality of life and happiness because they are not weak and they know what real life is ..and they don't make huge deals over stupid things. .and yes ik.Alot what it's like to be picked on..but that's just part of life and you can't ever change that.bullying is a part of life and you just deal with it..then move on to bigger and better things..I don't believe in bullying ..I just thinks it's the way of life and it's inevitable. .and it's foolish to think one can stop bullying 100%cause it will always happen no matter where u go..just deal with it..and if it's to severe or over the top then I guess it Needs to stop but being made fun of is part of life.

You guys realize that back in medieval times they used this type of public humiliation to shame criminals. CRIMINALS! The fact that this father did the same thing to his daughter that they once did to criminals is disgusting and saddening. I bet the father is sitting there with egg on his face now since he is forced to bury his child. He is going to have to look at her without her hair and be forced to remember what he did to her. I think this is one of the saddest stories you've done this year Ti.

When we got home, she hit me and dragged me across the floor. This was a while ago. This story seriously brought tears to my eyes. This is incredibly sad. Some "parents" are taking this punishment and social media thing too far as they seemingly forget that what you put on the internet is forever. Punishing a child is one thing, but one should never upload it to the internet to prove a point. I don't care who you are, that is extremely poor parenting if you feel like you have to do that.

But I know to a lot of people their hair means a lot to them. It takes a long time to grow long and you spend a lot of time styling it. Your hair says a lot about your personality for some. Its apart of you.

Its not that the shaming they be doing, its the fact they think they can record the shaming and get away with it. Parents always think, "Oh, let me record this maybe they will learn their lesson." NO this is not a way of kids learning the lesson. Parents don't understand that kids have a wider set in their mind and it can lead to a terrible doing in later life. Some kids still hold on to the terrible memories and more people can help lead them to a path of suicide, depression, disorders, and more. Parents don't watch over their kids like they are suppose to.

This is why I am in complete disagreement of parents shaming or humiliating their children online through social media. Of course it may not always lead to this but shaming and humiliating is not the answer. When I was growing up, if a parent wanted to discipline you, then they did it behind closed doors, not around people nor did they record it.
