A lot of the masters plans post castrovalva make sense if you assume the master has an obsession or fetish for role playing, and the evil plans are just a means to that end
I'm one of the nutters who absolutely loves this story. I think it's totally bonkers, but it has a great Master-rocking-up scene, a really bizarre timeless setting and one of the best sad companion endings ever. Plus the guy playing the Captain is terrific.
I totally agree! It's by far the most fun story of Season 19. It's a classic example of a story being hampered by its positioning. Imagine this swapped with Arc of Infinity, with a bit more money spent on it. Then Tegan's return could have been as cabin crew on Concorde, having stayed on Earth for a while with her cousin after the events of Arc of Infinity.
I agree. Despite it's flaws, it's entertaining. Can you really count that as a companion ending though? It didn't really accomplish anything aside from making things easier for Big Finish years later. I'm sure Peter would have loved it if Tegan was gone for good and he got his wish of Nyssa being is only companion.
Hey 👋 guys Ya’s know what Time - Flight ✈️ has some really excellent idea’s I think the story just suffers from end of season budget issues . Always enjoyed watching it though even with all the sharah sharums Kalid comes out with & the cringe 😬 worthy plasmatons it’s all good fun really. Plus I love Nyssa & Tegan & Peter’s Doctor of course. Guess In a season re-watch it’s probably a skipper but I never do & there’s plenty of EPs in new who that I wouldn’t hesitate skipping which says something about poor old Time - Flight ✈️ 🙂

As Matt mentions A Weekend With Waterhouse, I only live round the corner from his old childhood home he visits in the documentary and drive past it everyday on the way to work
My Top 5 were Power of the Daleks, Spearhead from Space, City of Death, Remembrance of the Daleks and Dalek... Earthshock, Blink and World Enough and Time came closest to giving me pause (largely because I was sad I didn't have a Cyberman pick). Incidentally, The Two Doctors is my second favourite Colin Baker story... in spite of the UA-cam handle.
My top 5 stories were: Tomb of the cybermen(as it's an amazing base under siege story and introduces the cyber controller) Green death (because it's now one of my favourite pertwee stories and is a great send off to Jo) Pyramids Of Mars (Mainly due to sutekh as well as Tom and sarahs performances) Earthshock (Because its my favourite cyberman story and introduces David Banks as the cyber leader) Rememberance of the daleks (A perfect conclusion to the dalek civil war plot that started with resurrection plus the special weapons dalek is amazing 😊😊)
I loved sci-fi as a kid. Time-Flight Part 4 was the first Dr Who episode I ever watched, with an episode of Terminus being the second. None of these inspired me to keep watching. I was so glad a friend convinced me to watch Carnival of Monsters about a year or so later. The story captured my imagination and I've been a life-long fan since. These bad stories really do the series a massive injustice. The show would be better trying experimental stage shows if they run out of money rather than putting out this rubbish. As you said, it must have been blatantly obvious this was going to be an epic failure - from script, costumes and sets. Special effects obviously were an afterthought (and that's being generous).
54:07 - Adric would have crashed into the Earth at the end of the Cretaceous, 80 million years after the end of the Jurassic, so not even close time wise!
It's a guilty pleasure of mine and all this has made me do is want to rewatch 😂 It's cheesy and stupid but like a horror film that's so bad it's good. I find it really entertaining and not dull which I can't say for some of the latest episodes we've had. I'd rather watch a 100 of these than something like legend of the sea devils
For the DWM poll I went with: Tomb of the Cybermen; War Games; Genesis; Pyramids; Caves of Androzani. Gutted that I couldn't pick one for Pertwee but I really think Inferno is grossly overrated (the same goes for The Green Death, tbh, besides the perfect farewell between Jo and Pertwee's Doctor). If they'd have put in The Daemons then I would have voted for that in a heartbeat...
My one criticism of this review. You guys mentioned it should be set at a different time than Adric crashing. This is set in mid Jurassic and Adric crashed at the end of the Cretaceous. You might want to look up how big of a time period that is because it makes that argument seem silly. If you want to make the argument that two serials set in Earth's distance past in a row is weird, then fine. But that they're the same? Ehhhh... Brush up on your prehistoric history.
Its a 'meh' story for me.They obviously ran out of money which shows. Nothing wrong with the cast as they are really trying. Far worse stories out there (lets kill hitler, Fear her, kill the moon etc) i wouldn't refer to this as a season finale because they didn't do that then, just a dull last story for an otherwise pretty good season, with good stories like castrovalva, kinda, visitation and of course Earthshock.
I was never fan of this story. First time watched it I hated it. Then second time watching it with my mate because he wanted to watch it, we both disliked it. Honestly it’s a shame the master in the Davidson era gets put in pretty bad stories.

I quite like it too. I think coming directly after Earthshock didn't do it any favours. The cast do a blinding job considering, especially Davison.

The thing with Time-Flight is that if the story was actually properly engaging then people would overlook some of the production deficiencies.
Time-Flight is the first true death rattle of classic DW - the faulty wiring that would lead to the behind-the-scenes inferno that was Season 23.
